We live in Los Fresnos which has great schools, but they don't offer dual language. Since we own a shop here we thought we'd take advantage of the dual language program because we have a lot of friends from our military days in Alaska whose kids did the program and raved about how awesome it is.

Anyway, it's our second year in the district and it's pretty easy to see that dual language is in no way, shape, or form ANY kind of top priority for the district. My daughter was in pre-k the year before last and kinder last year and after 2 WHOLE YEARS of Spanish instruction, she can barely speak a sentence or two of Spanish...I'm just super disappointed and hope this year will be different. Why go through all the trouble of doing dual language if you're going to half-@$$ it! Anyway, I love that the district offers dual language, but I REALLY hope they step up their game with dual language!!! because the way it is now is basically false advertising.

Literally zero help from staff while attempting to register my daughter for her first year as a student in Texas. We have been sent via phone, email and in person to several different areas....from the registrars office I might add....to departments that continually tell us that we did do what was asked and they dont know why this registrar cant handle the job.
Also....take some time to read about how your students hate your school if you happen to work here.

Picked up my son from Crockett Elementary in Harlingen and the staff that handed me my child was screaming at me in front of my son. He s supposed to go to Zavala. Zavala transfered him over here now I m regretting their decision. I m afraid of the staff I feared the woman was going to hit me because of how enraged she was. I don t feel comfortable knowing these people are around our children.

I went in to renew my username and password as the system had been updated. I was welcomed very warmly and to my satisfaction I found that there was actually quite a bit going on, with what appeared to be a ceremony. I did not have to wait very long and every staff member was accommodating and genial. To me, this embodies the Harlingen and by extension the Valley mentality to treat others as you would have them treat you. Thank you for assisting me and taking the time to answer all of my questions. This was a greatly appreciated and pleasant trip!
