Nice ambiance, cramp patio and expensive. Good food

Let s start with the good. The decor is nice. Good atmosphere. The food is pretty good. Now the not so good. The wait is a bit long even after ordering. And it s a bit pricey for what you get.

Worst brunch ever. The scrambled eggs for my son were greasy and tasteless; worse than a deli. My husband s dish (whatever he ordered) was a mush of sausage and grits??! Dish didn t make sense. I ordered soup and it really feft like left-over yuck (rabbit sausage, white bean, and something else); didn t finish it. Service was fine; we sat in the bar area. But we won t be going back too many times and too many bad experiences. I don t think it was always like that.

I stop by the bar here often after work on the way to the train. Great cocktails, speedy service, the bartenders are funny and good with the banter. The Drunken Palmer cocktail is dangerously good and easy to drink, and the burger or the meatballs always hit the spot.

Harlan social is probably my favorite spot in HP. My husband loves it too! The food and service are amazing! We love the servers and bartenders. Feels like cheers when we walk in!!!

My lobster dish had the shell still on when it was not supposed to. When I told the waitress she was so casual about it and said she'll talk to the chef. Came back with no response. Took my knife away and didn't bring a new one to replace it. They were out of hot chocolate on their dessert menu. Overall pretty lame experience. Not worth it.

Burgers are good, but at the price point Dolce Cubano is a much better value and the food is fantastic.

I have tried Harlan and few times and have come to the conclusion the place is just poorly run. They offer a very limited over priced menu. The salad was drenched in a thick, gooey pungent tasting dressing. On one occasion, I went in for lunch and the hostess said they were now on dinner service and refused to sit us in the dining room at 2pm! I have gone here out of convenience but no more. Service is very poor. If you go in for lunch expect to be there for 1.5 hours or more.

Service was average, the burger was well though I ordered medium. It was fairly tasty but a bit over priced and the beer was overpriced.

Perfect gin and tonic. Delicious baby spinach salad with candied walnuts and strawberry vinegret. Amazing salmon piccata. Fixed menu for restaurant week but great choices for an excellent value. Also had tiramisu for dessert which was wonderful but not part of the fixed menu. Crowded but very friendly wait staff and everything served in a timely manor.

Ordered takeout from here and it was a bit of a nightmare. The hostess took the order but gave it to the bartender. She said 20 minutes- I showed up in 20 minutes and waited another 30 minutes for the food to be ready. After I picked up the food I realized some items weren t there. Turns out she didn t write down one of the dishes and didn t add chicken to another. They were also out of one of their salads which was strange.

Two of the soups were sour and we had to go back yet again to return them. Half our food was cold, it was an all over mess. I have been here to dine in and the experience was much better. I wouldn t do takeout again.

I'm always excited to try the burgers at a new place and was disappointed to see they only have one burger on the menu. But they got it right. A "must try" for sure.

Pros: Pastry basket was incredible - must have a dedicated pastry chef back there. Spicy chicken and waffles was life changing.

Cons: Service was slow on one occasion I went on a Saturday early afternoon - nowhere near capacity. Let down by banana hazelnut french toast - flavors were an odd match and bread was very chewy (surprising, given the awesome basket earlier). Definitely pricey.

Would definitely give other items a try given two great items we had. Could see it being hit or miss. Would still come back for the hits.

After, what I thought was bad service. Turned out to be a misunderstanding, I am thankful for the way management handled the situation. Before getting upset, talk to a manager. I received a full refund, which was very thoughtful of them.

I hoped to like this more than I did! It was just okay. For the price I would definitely recommend taking an Uber or the free trolley three minutes down the road and stopping at any of the great restaurants in downtown Stamford. The drink menu is fine, nothing exciting or unique. The dinner was disappointing- I had the veggie gnocchi, which sadly required a lot of salt and pepper. It looked delicious but was lacking sauce and flavor.

This restaurant is great! The service is a mix of fine dinning with casual. The ancient grain and Quinoa bowl is a must have on the menu. For the quality, you're going to have to pay, prices are much higher than the area average and it's very much directed at the business lunch crowd. That being said it serves that niche well.

Love the menu, the bartenders, and the wait staff! Great atmosphere no matter what the night.

With a widely varied menu ranging from a mozzarella bar to small plates to full plates and sides, Harlan Social delivers great food. The service is attentive, knowledgeable and engaging. The wine list is broad and there is a full bar. This was a very good experience. This was our second visit and we're happy it's close to home.

Harlan Social was great, just had our private/wedding event this past August and I cannot rave enough about the staff and food. The food was amazing and all of our guests are still complimenting the venue. A HUGE thank you to the staff for making our night great, they were attentive and responsive to anything and everything that we needed.

One of the best in Stamford, great food friendly staff great atmosphere all around. Highly recommended. I'll go there again for sure!

Good quality food. High priced, though standard business dinner type of restaurant. I always know what to expect there. Not disappointed.

Food took forever. Took forever for our waiter to even come to the table. We had to ask for the manager and request our waiter. Staff was nice enough but didnt move with urgency or really acknowledge us. Food was sub par and a bit oily. But the fries and decor were ok. Ruined the end to an otherwise amazing birthday weekend celebration.

I normally would not bother to review. However I can't give this restaurant a low enough review to do it justice. Bartenders that night were the worst! Not a smile, word, or thank you in sight. I was hoping for something upscale! Instead I have food that is overcooked and fish that was so tough it wasn't worth anything I paid for it. Honestly what made me mad enough to write this review was my $12 dollar jack and coke that had no jack in it! Don't waste your time, effort, money, brain cells on this place! Just go to NYC!

Food and service were great. Will definitely go back again. Try the Harlan Burger. You won't be disappointed...

Great atmosphere! The food was good--basic bar/gastropub vibe to the menu. I had the mac & cheese and the cheese burger they were both up to par with the look of the place, but it was pretty pricey for what you got.

Best burger in the state. Proper bread to meat ratio and excellent tri-combo of meats.

The food is always very good, if not a little pricey. The burger is really good and a solid choice if you are stumped. The staff is nice the restaurant is nicely decorated.

Wide variety on the menu. Food is good, drinks are great. Casual enough to bring family, but nice enough for dinner out with you significant other.

Went here for dinner. Pricey but excellent. Three of us had the New York Strip steak and one the salmon. All cooked beautifully. We eat at Harlan when we visit Stamford. It's easy to get to, has a nice vibe, and a wide range of interesting and delicious items. Service is always pleasant and prompt. Excellent food & service from appetizers to. dessert. The food was great, service was great, not overbearing, priced very fairly.

Nice looking location. We went on a tuesday evening, not a big crowd there but still the service was very slow. We had the cod special, it was bland, not a lot of flavor. Still we woud give it another shot.

Excellent experience. Food was tasty and presentations was very good. Service was prompt and solicitious.

Our experience was with a private party/wedding reception mid August 2014. Two words, they rocked! Do not try the crab cakes if you like crab and have addiction problems. The food was amazing, Chef runs a precision operation and I was somewhat cut off by the ASM mid conversation because "he had to go help his staff". Wait, you are interrupting my complements to go help you waiter staff clear tables, AMAZING! Cat - special events manager - was great all night and went with the flow as the night went on/late. I would not hesitate to go back for a meal and might make a trip out of it, they were that good.

Gastro pub meets sports bar, this neighborhood joint have a pretty good new American line up, with a decent selection of cocktails and drinks. The menu seems a bit stale (can't recall much change for the 2 years that I've lived nearby), but the items taste delicious.

I thoroughly enjoyed this place. I came down for a weekend to the states and this was the first restaurant we went to for a special occasion. The set up of the restaurant was very clean, spacious and welcoming. The food was very good and the portions were huge ! I couldn't finish my meals. Very nice for big gatherings.

This restaurant is a must visit if you re interested in delicious food at an affordable value. The portions and offerings for their Pixe Fixed Lunch was way more than I expected. I also ordered their shrimp and cheese charcuterie. The humus was kick your fingers good and the warm pita was the best I ve had in a long time. I don t like vegetables but I ate all the Brussels Sprouts. Dessert was very good. Their cheesecake was moist and tasted freshly made. The staff is attentive and fun to interact with. I will be driving up to Stamford to eat here again. Worth my time and money.

Wonderful vibe, great food! Hubby and I came here .The receptionist, Eve, was such a great host... kia, our waitress was very professional. This restaurant is Hospitality at it's best .I recommend this!

Have enjoyed 2 really nice lunches on the weekend. Food is delicious and service great. I was a bit surprised by $4.00 cup of coffee. I am not looking for inexpensive, I know where to find that spot. Just was a bit put off by that price.

my first time at Harlan Social Stamford, last night with a friend.
we ate dinner at the bar, although there was plenty of seating options inside or outside.
our bartender Aisha, was incredibly friendly and professional.
We started with Appetizers: Home-made Ricotta Cheese with Prosciutto on the side, Chicken & Foie Gras Meatballs, Baja Fish Tacos, Red Beet Hummus.
after a short break we then shared the NY Strip Steak, with fingerling potatoes. a fun evening. with good service, very good wine & beer choices. We will be going back !

I ordered a croq madame. It's basically a really fancy grilled cheese with special sauce, ham, and an egg on top. I've had it at other places and it is very good. If you Google the dish, it looks like a sandwich.

This is what they gave me. A massive amount of cheese, some ham, and soggy bread at the bottom. No sauce to speak of.

I'm all for reinventing things, but the reinvention has to be either better than the original or bring an interesting twist.

This wasn't. It was just objectively bad. Even if I had no idea what I was getting I would be disappointed by this.

As always one of the best places for American food, tried vegetarian this time - simply outstanding...

My wife and I love Harlan. A short walk from harbor pt. Service is great and food is delicious. My only comment is that menu is on the smaller side.

Food is very inconsistent - ranging from poor to excellent. Salmon, for example was excellent; but miso cod was salty & very one dimensional.

Service is spotty - Don, the bartender, is great. But I can't say the same about other servers.

I guess they have a lot to work on.

Have not had a bad meal here or take out yet. Food has always been consistently good. Very expensive but if the food is good, I don't mind the cost.

Food here is wonderful. Staff very polite. Kitchen staff very deligent and hard working. Love the enviroment there even on a busy night. The place has smooth operations written all over it. Recommended for any special event ,lunch, Business brunch meeting. You name it this is thee spot for Stamford new downtown restaurant life!!

The pickings in Stamford are slim, mighty slim. This, however, is actually not a bad place. It's airy, friendly, and the food is really not bad at all.
Mind you, the whole place has a kinda corporate vibe - think "the type of resto you'd find in a hotel". Frankly, given the aforesaid slim pickings in Stamford, I'll take it, and you should too.
The happy hour specials are note bad, they have a decent selection of beers and wines, and the food is perfectly ok.
So yeah, if you have to go somewhere, this isn't a bad place...

Ate at Harlan tonite. Lovely restaurant--ridiculously poor service. Did our wait person have a bad day or is excruitiatingly bad service the norm? After ordering drinks in an almost empty restaurant, a 15 minute wait seemed excessive and then the table next to us was served first.
Lobster bisque minus any decernible lobster was a disappointment. Burata and wedge salad were good. Salmon a tad over done, chicken very good and scallops were excellent.
Waiter never returned for desert order and his unfriendly and unengaging manner tarnished what would otherwise been a pleasant evening.
Support staff far exceeded our server's performance. Wish management had been available as we left---instead our server posted himself at the door making it awkward to ask.

still upset about the terrible dinner last night, steak sent back twice (had to go home and recook it myself), desert came out incorrect, waited 25 min on a Tuesday night with maybe 20 ppl total in the restaurant. Manager did not look like he knew what was going on. Could get a better steak from a McDonalds then the terrible, raw, uncooked steak I had received. WILL NOT BE RETURNING!

Great food; easy to have a meeting and good service!

The Harlan Burger was the best burger Ive ever tasted! Wife and I also loved their decor. Service was great.

The food was very fresh and artfully presented. The restaurant was so crowded when we were there, but we were served right away. Even though it was packed that night, we enjoyed an intimate setting and were able to converse. Our waiter was delightful. I highly recommend this restaurant for an excellent dining experience.

Excellent food & service from appetizers to. dessert. The food was great, service was great, not overbearing, priced very fairly. Harlan Social is a bit noisy and the bar area also has sports TVs in addition to booths and tables. The service is consistently good and attentive. The food is consistently good and fairly priced. On my last visit, I had a cheeseburger with fries. The table started with a large pretzel with mustard - great! The kitchen also split a salad three ways and plated it beautifully. There's a decent wine, beer and cocktail list and I had two cocktails, one of which was good, the other tasted of coconut (the drink I ordered was a sea breeze, which is vodka, grapefruit juice and cranberry juice). It tasted good enough not to send back but wasn't a true sea breeze.

Horrible service and food was really bad. My food was already cold when it arrived.

Very eclectic place - drinks were great as well as the food. Menu is Spanish food - go for the paella. Staff is friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable.

Accommodated a large party for brunch with only a few days notice

Off the hook...AGAIN!!! Brunch at Harlan is EXCEPTIONAL fare in a lighthearted atmosphere. No comps for this place ... they re getting it done in that kitchen!

My friends and family love this place for brunch. I prefer the drinks over the food. The dessert empanadas are pretty amazing. I prefer fresh chorizo vs smoked so am always dissatisfied with smoked which is what they serve. Service is always great and friendly
