I feel safe knowing that the Hanover Sheriff DPT. are stopping people who look suspicious they have to be !! and they are doing a great job . I respect every law enforcement . those who find something wrong with them must be guilty of something .
Extremely grateful for Hanover Sheriffs with their urgency and professionalism when we were in need of their assistance. I cannot imagine what we would have done without them!
Around three (3) weeks ago I was experiencing car problems. I was headed home with my two little granddaughters. It was cold and would be getting dark really soon. I was very anxious that the car would die out and leave us in the road to be hit. I was also concerned about the cold and my precious granddaughters being cold, scared or possibly hurt. When I came into the little town of Montpelier there was a Sheriff's car parked at one of the businesses. I pulled over and asked the deputy if he would consider following me home as my alternator was bad and I had no signal lights, no brake lights etc. He gladly agreed and followed me to my driveway. This nice deputy's name is Deputy B.A. MCINTEE. I am so grateful for the help and the security I felt getting home that day. Please extend my appreciation to this deputy and let him know that I am praying for his and all Hanover Sheriff's Deputy's safety. GOD BLESS!!
Just need to Thank L.T. Norman, during our summer vacation our car broke down and Deputy Norman went up and above to help . He was very compassionate and waited with us until help arrive. Thanks You Deputy Norman, need more officers like you :o)
The worst county in the country to be arrested in. The sheriff's department is corrupt. Stay away. Hanover sentences are excessive.
The Hanover Sheriff's office protects fellow police that commit felonies so there's no difference between them and criminals. They also pump propaganda out by the truckload about how they are so well trained, yet they can't even enforce traffic laws much less obey them. Never trust or believe any police in Virginia because they are all taught to lie and deceive citizens. In Virginia, citizens are never allowed to defend themselves (you'll go to jail guaranteed) but police can shoot you dead even if you are unarmed and innocent. Police are not good decent people in Virginia, best bet to stay far away from all and never be friends because police truly have no friends. They have grudges against society and work everyday to hurt people and cause problems for them

Can't tell the difference between illegal contraband and sugar, because they do not train their officers well enough, they put three individuals through a lot of stress, because they were not intelligent enough to tell that a substance was sugar, but hey, innocent until proven guilty, right? Or does that not apply with this department?
The officer who called me was very rude and did nothing to help the situation and said I raised my voice at him when really I was frustrated about a situation, I rate Hanover county police station a 0 star they have always been nosey and have been really snappy with me, they also do not know the law half the time so they make false arrest whoever wants to petition the police station can join me send a message back and I will respond
Great department, all deputies treat people respectfully to a high standard.
My boyfriend is leaving for the police academy next year and I am hopping that he won't be put with Hanover county police department. Four of them side with liars and criminals then with law abiding people. My step sisters basically told lies and four officers and an animal control officer sided with them. Do not trust Hanover county police department unless they wear a cowboy hat.
Top notch agency. We are proud to have these men and women serving us in Hanover. This is a well funded, well trained and professional group of public servants.
To the reviewer who says it's a bad county to get arrested in, I say good. Getting arrested isn't supposed to be enjoyable. Try flying right and you won't have any issues. Feel free to leave Hanover if you don't like the fact that laws are enforced here.
I was on the phone with the dispatch office, when the deputies called, and said they found my wallet!
My experience with the deputy's was great even under the.bad circumstances. The were respectful, and empathetic and gave me good advise and they made me feel save. I thank you all very much. I needed them more than once and everytime was very good experience.
Today I was pulled from Mechanicsville Turnpike by a Hanover officer who was sitting in a parking lot. I have never even seen a Hanover officer up close before as I have never been in any criminal trouble ever! He followed me around the block and turned his lights on. I pulled into the Wells Fargo parking lot where the officer jumped out of his car, smacked my car and came to my window. I rolled down my window and he stuck his head in and sniffed around. He didn't ask for license or registration. He said that he thought he smelled weed coming from my vehicle. I simply said "I don't smoke." He said "I know, I have to get the person I think it is" as he walked away. He made a u-turn and parked where he was previously parked. Once I called to file a complaint, Officer Tilley said that it's the same as if the officer would have pulled me over if he misread my inspection sticker. This has nothing to do with an inspection sticker. He totally blew off the whole thing and never apologized for wasting my time. The way everything was handled was very unprofessional and inappropriate.
The deputies came to our home during a terrible thunderstorm. We were fine, but they made sure we were OK. Hats off to all the first responders. I don't know we we'd be without them!
