Good smaller airport however the price of parking is outrageous. With flight cancellations to return I was an extra 2 days before getting back to Hamilton. No parking coupons are available for this airport & therefore my bill was $170. Totally unexceptable.

This airport is worth the drive. Its is always a stress free departure and arrival. One door in one door out, right near the highway and easy to get to. The only thing that's missing is a decent hotel close by. Not sure why no one got a jump in that.

I loved my experiences at this airport, both departing from, and arriving to. It is a bit off the beaten path (no major directional signage or highway to get you there), but your mobile phone GPS will get you there without a problem. Parking is a reasonable $65CDN per week, but be aware (at this time, anyway) there are no budget-minded Park And Fly outfits adjacent to the airport. There s an on-site Tim Hortons and, once you re thru security, a bit of a cafe serving sandwiches, hot dogs, coffee, and bottled soft drinks, beer, and wine. The seating at the gate area is spacious and much more relaxing than a typical airport. The airport is built at ground level, so there are no jetways. You walk out on the tarmac and up the stairs, just like the old days. I flew to Cancun and back from there. The customs staff at the airport moved people through very quickly. I did not check a bag, so I cannot comment on how long it takes for checked luggage to be off-loaded. I had no problem paying for parking on my way out of the airport (sort of a walk-up vending machine thing) and then exiting the lot by submitting my *paid* parking card at the electronic gate. I didn t experience the line of cars at the exit gate that some mention. Prior to this trip (April 2019), I d always flown out of Pearson, but from now on, I ll always look into Hamilton first. Everything about my experience here was excellent.

PS: I know some reviewers seem to be using this space to review Swoop Airlines (my experience with them was great, btw), but I tried to focus my review strictly on the airport facility, it s staffing, and its amenities. I was impressed by all of it.

Why have the rates to fly using Hamilton airport skyrocketed? I used to use this airport when possible but now it's too expensive. To fly from Montreal to Toronto roundtrip costs under $300 at the worst of times. Montreal to Hamilton for the same dates were shown at$2350. How can they justify this? It's an hour flight and cost more than flying to Europe. Better off to book a limo and fly into Toronto!

Parking is easy, right outside the terminal. Checking in with Swoop for our flight to Orlando was also a simple process, with minimal wait.

There are washrooms and a Tim Horton s on both sides of the security area.

Additional food options are available after security.

Passengers flying to the States do not go through customs here (unlike Pearson).

Terminal is large and bright. Be prepared to walk outdoors in order to board your flight!

There is a duty free shop after the security check point, as well.

Close parking, 1 terminal, EASY TO GET TO, way less of a headache compared to Person. Little to no stress, friendly staff at West Jet. For those who disagree keep going to the nightmare that is Person that's perfect for ya!

I don't mean to be mean, but I didn't think I was in Canada when I got off the airplane. The people are great, thus 2 stars instead of one.

Take a cue from Gatwick at London, and get serious about a new terminal. Become the secondary airport for Southern Ontario. Hamilton is a great city, and deserves far better than this joke.

Too high of fares to fly out of this airport which is unfortunate because they could have so much more passenger business if they lowered the fare a bit. Feels like it's more of a cargo/commercial airport than a passenger airport.

Great airport, fast service, no traffic, great long term parking and no lineups!! Taking off is a breeze, no runway waits and from check-in to takeoff is fast. Will definitely travel through here instead of Pearson. Looking forward to more destinations...

Great airport! Parking for a week is 60$ with a small walk to the doors. Security is quick n efficient. Large waiting room. Duty free store is small and extremely over priced, no need to up the cost of a bag chips or gum by 200%. Bring you own snacks n empty bottle, there is a water fountain past security. The restaurant is also over priced. There is a Tim's on both sides but I believe the one before security offers more items from the menu. This is typical at any airport.
But it's a great airport, fast and convenient. Even vacations packages are cheaper than from Toronto. I try to book departing from this airport as much as possible.

Nice small airport. Everything is easy. Not busy. Easy parking close to terminal (found it a bit overpriced though). Check in and security were both a breeze. A bit of a pain if the weather's bad since there are no jetways and you need to walk out on the tarmac and walk up the stairs/ramp.

This airport is pretty small but nice and in the middle of a rural area. The people that work in there are very polite (even the security) and they really try to help you. I have been there twice. In my first time, it made sense to drive from Toronto to Hamilton. They had cheap flights and cheap parking. Now, however, both have increased its prices like crazy!!! In my first time, I parked my car for 30 days at $145, now it is $380. Now flying from Pearson will cost me around $50 cheaper. I heard that this airport wants to attract more people but is getting harder with this prices.

While it is a rather small international airport. It is a very efficient airport and rather quick to get things down including checking in, security and others.... Not much store option though but love arriving at this airport. It is quite easy to drop off and pick up and no much complications with other bigger airports....

There are no flights to necessary locations: Quebec City, Halifax, Victoria, Miami, Los Angeles. The website is a mess since the map is impossibly difficult to figure out which flights are seasonal, etc. Very difficult to get to. There should be a direct connection between the downtown GO centre and this airport. As it stands, an inadequately handled airport. Unbelievable that I live 6 minutes away from it and I fly out of either YYZ or Toronto City Centre instead.

YHM is a small airport, which makes it a breeze to go through. Even though I'm a person who gets anxious about flying, I really liked this airport. Mainly because the walls are painted in calming colors, and the floors are carpet. It makes the place feel more 'homey'. All of the staff are nice!

Love this airport, cheap parking, quick and easy to fly in and out of if flight times permit (which isn't often now that WestJet has changed their flights to red-eyes and early morning). Deducted one star for some of the staff at security who often seem miserable and rude. If you hate your job that much, find another and spare passengers the attitude.

January 8th flight from PVR. Landed and waited on the plane for 40 minutes for the steps to arrive. Finally get inside and waited 2 hours for someone to unload the luggage and get it to the conveyer belt.
We were the only plane there with 140 passengers.
ITS NOT LIKE THE AIRPORT WASN'T EXPECTING OUR FLIGHT!!!!!
Swoop took a lot of complaint for the airports short comings.
5 STARS FOR SWOOP

In most ways, a great airport. It's easier to navigate than Pearson and much quicker to get through. HOWEVER, I was flagged over in the parking lot by the "valet" parking service. It's free! You're car will be waiting right here for you when you get back.... except it wasn't. I go to collect my key and he tells me it's parked in B9. But i was told it would be waiting for me (the fellow next to me confirmed this was what he was told as well). The cheerful response was, "they lied!".
At 1:30 AM I am wandering around the back forty trying to figure out where the heck my car is actually located. If it were any further from the terminal, it would no longer have been on the property. It was really not appreciated.

It is way easier to get to then Toronto airport but they need to be more organized there. Few times i missed a flight just because there not enough people on duty to get you in on time . Make sure that you there min 2 hours before the flight i would say add extra 15 min more to that.

Small airport but which has all the services in limited quantity. Don't expect to have a choice of 4 restaurants. There is a Tim Horton, a convenience store, a duty free, and a few car rental companies. But there is also no traffic or stress to pass the security.

A very small airport but it has a cafeteria, restroom and vending machine. I had to spend one night there and everything was closed. The swoop airline arrives from Cancun for a very cheap price. Little migration staff, no interpreter, fast process

The convenience of location alone deserves this rating. But also the ease of parking, checkin, and security were also fantastic. So much easier than travelling to Toronto or Buffalo. Will make every attempt to fly out of Hamilton more often.

For the most part I've had pretty good experiences flying out of Hamilton airport. Just a dislcaimer; do not fly with Swoop. Their staff are rude, unhelpful and just don't give a damn about you. It's unfortunate that their company and their name taint this airport.

However one time after paying for their parking it took about 30 minutes to exit the parking lot. One exit gate working for 50+ cars. Fun. Efficient. If it's broken just manually open the gate, have a worker there and filter out the cars looking at the tickets. It's not that difficult to rectify solutions quickly.

This is kinda the best kept secret IMO. smaller, quicker, more efficient and so much more painless then going to bigger airports like Toronto. And the people are more friendlier as well. Took a flight to Punta cana from her, and both departing and arriving back were a breeze. Highly recommended.

AVOID- Used to be a good option, now over capacity, can t handle more that 2 flights at one time. Avoid in busy travel season or at least bank on long delays. Better off at Buffalo or Niagara Falls or heaven forbid Pearson.

Very small airport. You have to deplane and board via a ramp outside. Pelting rain last week when I was there. Had to hold folks back til rain subsided a bit. Why don't they buy a dozen golf umbrellas for people to use. Even the workers were soaked. Even tho a small venue price of food horrendous .$7 PLUS tax for a sandwich. Easier to access than toronto Pearson .

Even driving from Toronto is well worth it if you get the flight you need out of Hamilton. Parking is way less than Toronto and the entire airport experience is way better than Toronto. Stress free here even the staff and immigration staff are more laidback.
