Nurses are great. Doctors are nice. But need more staff to speed things up.
I had two good experiences at this outlet before when I visited with grandchildren.
However, when I went in with a very painful wrist that turned out to be broken in three places, I was made waiting 2 1/2 hours, looking at many other patients being served who came after me. I was wondering whether they had me wait because I complained about the pain while seeing others getting in ahead of me; staff told me they were acute whereas I wasn t.
The doctor referred me to Peterborough. Except the Peterborough hospital told me 3 days later when I called, that they never got my referral.
When I telephoned to make sure that my referral was sent finally, I got a flippant things get lost answer, I was never told that they will try harder next.
Very disappointing experience. It also thought me that perhaps the best attitude to not say anything, don t call staff s attention, so that they won t be tempted to abuse their power.
Now I wonder if anyone will read this review and perhaps respond.
I was up at my cottage and took my toddler in because she had had a fever for 2 days. When we arrived at the hospital she was being a little difficult but she was a sick toddler its ecpected. The nurses were great trying to be patient and dealing with her. When the dr came in he never asked me what was wrong just looked in her ears and told me she was fine that it would go away on its own. The next day her symptoms worsened so I went home and took her to the hospital by my house because she was starting to get dehydrated. After seeing the dr it turned out she had a throat infection. So my daughter spent a whole day getting worse because the dr in thins emergency room didnt feel like fully examining her. I will never be back. Id rather drive to another town.
Waited over 4 hrs only two other people in waiting room and staff was not friendly. Dr barely looked at me said I had to wait 6 wks before I had to come back. Said I'd go elsewhere Dr immediately said they don't practice correctly there ! Before knowing where I'm heading. Will never return here will make the drive south anytime over coming here
They get the job done! It gets super busy in the summer, but the staff still does an awesome job. They work really hard to maintain their equipment too. They ve always been great to me!
It's like night and day here. Went first around noon on a Friday in considerable pain - doc suggested I tough it out 2 more days (this was my fourth day) despite the pain. Had to go back the same night because issue was still getting worse. Evening staff (particularly both nurses) were fantastic, and it was obvious that they cared, but then the followup:
Evening doc: we can't do CT scan here. Closest will be in Lindsay (80 min away) I'll send requisition so they can see you first thing in morning. Fair enough. I leave and await call in morning with appointment time.
Next morning, I call Lindsay hospital - they have req but it was filled out incorrectly, so won't see me until Monday. I call Haliburton hospital to ask them to resend it correctly, but instead, I just get "no, we can't do that. You need to come back and see today's doc". I explained the absurdity of the situation to the person on the phone - not an ounce of compassion, just "sorry, come back and we'll do it all over again" and at this point, with even the smallest detail that could go wrong and slow things down, I absolutely don't want to go back.
Finally get a call about 3 hours later from someone at Haliburton hospital: "are you coming back here for new req? We realize we made a mistake" (yet still nobody offers to just call last night's doc to confirm correction).
In a nutshell, they screw up, then it's up to you to come back in person, and go though everything again. Never mind the fact that you might still be in incredible pain. Unacceptable!
Caring, generous and compassionate professionals. I can't say enough.
I saw doctor K July 10 the 2020 he is a down to earth doctor he tell you the thuth he is number one the best thank you and your nurses
My husband injured his hand on a power saw, a very serious injury. We rushed to Haliburton hospital emergence. While there were others there in the waiting room, they took care of my husband immediately. He received excellent care, and we both found the nurses and technicians to be extremely helpful. We now live in the area, and its such a good feeling to know we have such caring and professional supportive.
Thank you haliburton hospital. You have the sweetest non judging nurse's and doctor who took such wonderful care of my sister. She was having siezers from alcohol and was treated so caring. She was homeless, and depressed. I have been in many hospitals and haliburton is both our favorite. Thank you again, you have made a wonderful memory and really helped my sister. She said they really cared about me.
Can't say enough good things about the professional, compassionate staff. We are very fortunate to have such a high quality facility in our community.
Horrible wait times staff a friendly when you see them but short handed under prepared expensive if your dying drive the hour to Peterborough it's your better bet
