You tell me, I may be generous on stars but I really like this place.
Set upon what once was a lake during the 1905 worlds fair in Portland, these guys are hidden from the pretentious Pearl.
It's kinda crazy how much there is to choose from including specials everyday. The menu is huge with breakfast and lunch from which your bound to find what you like.
Breakfast: Great big omelets, pancakes, real hashbrowns, name it. Portions are generous. If you want quick, skip the McDumps down Yeon and come here for the Super Muffin.

Lunch: They roast their own beef, make their own pastries, cookies and soups. I've had pretty much all their soups and usually always winners. The Southwest Turkey San. is grilled and great and the spinach salad with raspberry vinaigrette may not necessarily be the most innovative salad compared to trendy food PDX but it's delicious.
Beverage: All the sodas, including Izzys, Caffe Darte coffee (give Starchucks on the corner a rest already) and good beers (!) on tap.
Brian (the owner) is simply put a super friendly and interesting guy and his crew works hard to keep you full and highly satisfied.
If your lost, dazed by Esco's fumes and hungry in industrial Northwest take a break and stop here. Or if your just hungry it could be worth the trip.
I work next door so I'll see you there.

Wonderful homemade soups, tasty and hearty sandwiches (the Ultimate French Dip and the Reubens are particularly good), and one of the most delicious spinach salads you will ever eat. Add a decent collection of specialty bottled sodas, and some sumptuous brownies and you have a hit. Good, simple food, prepared fresh and served up in generous portions. Atmosphere is typical cafeteria...I don't mind. It's clean, and great food with fast, courteous service and very reasonable prices. Overall, it's one of my favorite places in Portland.

Guild's Lake is a Good, Clean place to eat. My office is close so for convenience I eat there a few times a month. It's nothing spectacular to look at but the food is consistently good and the service is always fast. The soups and salads are the superstars of the menu though I've never had a sandwich there that wasn't above average. Some of my staff rave about the hamburgers and breakfasts so they must be great. Being close by I can attest to the fact that this place is always full and there are many repeat customers - that's the best sign of a good restaurant.

Guy in the Glasses is VERY RUDE. We pre ordered 25 minutes In advance and when we get there and are patiently waiting he comes out of nowhere telling us we need to give a days notice for 6 people! We met some co-workers there and were a complete seperate order we were told 25 minutes then we show up and get an ear full about how small his grill is which is not something customers worry about when attending a 70 person occupancy restaurant and there's only 12 total people there. Not to mention 3 of the guys so far are feeling sick to their stomachs. NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN. Then he has the nerve to tell me he hopes one day I'm not as grumpy as he is when i get older while I was paying for 6 people, not sure if that was the worst sorry that's ever been expressed to me or if this guy is just a big Richard Head. Lost me and 5 others as customers and will now let everyone know not to go there. Almost brought my wife and kids last week, glad I didnt.
