I'm 100% Italian. I went there last night with my friend who is African-American. We walked in the door and the girl yelled at us that she would be right with us and then proceeded to take care of her employees with non emergencies and the reason I know they are non emergencies is because I work in the restaurant industry for 30 years. They completely ignored us and it was so blatantly obvious and rude. My family grew up in this neighborhood and I will never return again shame shame shame shame shame on you. You humiliated my friend which in turn humiliated me I'm embarrassed to say that I'm Italian

A fantastic place that gives NYC Little Italy a run for its money. We had a late lunch on the covered patio. The service was great. We were treated us as regulars even though it was obvious we were newbies. Our server was informative, honest, and if we could have had her join us we would have. The cocktails were delicious and not all sugar with the appropriate bite. I had a Gin cocktail with lemoncello... delicious. The food. We thoroughly enjoyed appetizers-- scallops and the prosciutto with green olives. The olives were so perfectly salty and smooth. The scallops had a great coating that added so much flavor and texture..could have been a meal. We all ordered classic dishes. All were delicious. Chicken Parm, chicken piccata and spaghetti and meatballs. They did not disappoint. The servings are big and easily split (share for sure). The best however was the lasagna from a very old recipe. The ricotta cheese filling was like velvet and the proportion of meat, pasta, sauce was perfect. The environment was as though you were having lunch at your aunts. The garden boasted a beautiful flowering vine brought from Sicily. If you are in Cleavland make sure you stop by this treasure for a great meal, a great, time, and to feel welcomed.

Went there for a late Valentine's day. The food was great, atmosphere was nice, and even had live music. Our waitress Meagan was fantastic. She was very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The place was packed but we had a reservation and were seated immediately.

Disgrace to Italian restaurants all over the world...

Disgrace to Italian restaurants all over the world. Before I even got to the door I hated the place. Me and a co-worker stopped in for a quick lunch. A old drunk guy sitting out in front of it (who I assume is the owner) gets in my face with attitude asking me "where do you think you're going you can't park in my parking lot unless you're a customer here" yea no s@#% like if I can't read all the signs that say parking for customers only. Walked in sat at the little bar, not much of a bar only 4 beers to pick from. Now I've been to a lot of hole in the wall/ corner bars/family owned/ mom and pop restaurants before so looks and style don't matter to me but this place was disgusting. I smelled the black mold when I first walked in and could see a huge old water stain going from the ceiling down the wall. Almost choked on my drink when I saw the prices for their meals. I don't mind paying extra for good tasting food. But I also shouldn't have to wait 45 mins for a small plate of angel hair pasta. There was only 8 people there. Biggest upset was when the waiter brought over the plate of bread. It's tradition and I know Italian restaurants are always known for their bread. But we got grocery store slices of bread. Not home made frash baked oh no. We got 3 slices of white bread from Wal-Mart. I thought it was a joke. I was actually waiting for them to put a toaster out in front of me just so I can toast it or maybe even deli meats so I can make a sandwich. The pasta was nothing special at all. No flavor or anything to it and very small portion. The sauce taste like it came out of a can they could have least put some meat into it for what they where charging for it. I would rather eat at McDonald's before I ever go here again and I hate fast food.

I should have just laughed in that old drunk guys face walk down the street get 2 slices of pizza (or i could have gotten a whole pizza with extra toppings with what I spent here) while he calls a tow truck to take my van away. It's gonna take that tow truck 30 mins to get there. I'd be back in my van and gone by then.

Such a cool little place in Little Italy. We have been twice now. The servers are super nice, the outdoor seating in the back is probably my fav outdoor seating in Cleveland...it is private yet full of greenery and flowers and trees...love the history of the place and the best part, of course, is THE FOOD! So so delicious and the espresso drinks are the bomb!

Wonderful little Italian place with great authentic food. Try the lasagna - they've used the same recipe for 50 years and it rocks. If you can get out of work a little early they have great Happy Hour prices for drinks and food.

The food was good. However the service by server was horrible. She really made us feel we were a bother to her. Never offered dessert or coffee. Threw bill on the table and walked away. But hey she still got tipped so she didn't care.Tip was automatically added to the bill. Which she really didn't deserve that amount. Wonder if management does it because of poor serve by the servers.
Oh well lesson learned....

This restruant is very romantic and intimate. Our server was great and a lot of fun. My group went on a Saturday night after Valentine's day and at that time a reservation was definitely required. Major plus- the restruant has its own parking lot right outside for no extra fee so you dont need to fight for parking. I am told there is a nice patio out back when the weather is nice.

Guarino's is our absolute favorite restaurant in Cleveland. The traditional Italian food is very good, the service is exceptional, and the owner Scott Phillips understands his customers and welcomes them every evening.

My wife and I visited Guarino's on a Sunday afternoon to find that we were not alone. Many other events collided in the area causing a huge crowd throughout Little Italy that afternoon. We had a show to get to and almost gave up hope. They seated us so quickly we were amazed. We told our server, Marilou, that we had a show to get to and she said not to worry. We were a bit worried, but, as she promised, our service was superb! The meals were great, (we both had lasagna) and Marilou was wonderful. No matter how rushed things were in the dining room, she was beyond pleasant! Friendly, fun and incredibly efficient! She had several tables, including a party of nine, but we could never tell. Watching the rest of dining room, I could see others were receiving the same great service. Servers were hustling and taking great care of everyone. Wow! I called to talk to the owner Monday morning and pass along the good word. She was as wonderful as everyone else there. You can see where it all comes from! I dine out nearly every day of the week and this is one of the only reviews I have ever written. Well deserved. I can't wait to go back again to enjoy Guarino's again!

Sat at the bar briefly... Had a beer. Heard the bartender tell the server to stop letting people back into the bar area because he needed to save seats for some regulars. Cut to 10 minutes later - the bartender first comes and asks us if we are planning on leaving - No. 5 minutes later tells us our seats are "reserved" and we need to move. Hmmm. Really? Because I heard you speaking with the server about needing to "save some seats" after we already seated. Ridiculous. Place didn't seem clean. Bathroom was borderline disgusting. Decor was "retro" and not in a good way - in a "this place needs Lysol-Ed" way. Subpar at best, not for someone who enjoys finer restaurants.

Great food and hospitality. We had a party of 11 (including 5 kids and a very tired 2-year-old), and they really went above and beyond to make the adults and the kids feel comfortable. On top of all that, the food was incredible-would definitely go again.

Great service; manager/owner was there, asked us twice how everything was. One waitress it seemed for about 5 tables, a little slow. Not too bad.

Entrees I think are priced right but the apps and especially the wine - ~5 oz pour for $9-$12. Never spent nearly that much - maybe I've been going to the right places. When I got the pour I was very disappointed. Desserts were relatively small - thus expensive as well. Food was pretty good; scallop app was cooked right. Chicken picatta was great, IMHO. I rarely have bad service so other than the fact the complementary items to your entree are 20-30% out of line on pricing (it's CLE, not Seattle or SF), pretty good place.

My wife and I have gone here for years and always go on our anniversary. The service is always phenomenal and the food is to die for. The owner always stops by to ask if theres anything he can get for us personally. If there was an option to give Guarinos six stars, I would give them seven.

The Steak was tender, the most important criterion for great brasciole. The filling was tasty. The sauce was obviously the sauce the BRASCIOLE simmered in for hours; It was robust in its flavor. I spooned the voluminous sauce onto my cavatelli even though the marinara sauce was delicious. $19 for this feast of 2 brasciole. If I had been accompanied to dinner, I could have split the meal and gone home happy. Visit Guarino s and I promise you will not be disappointed.

Guarino's is my favorite Italian Restaurant. The food is great, atmosphere very Italian Victorian, if there is such a thing, with small lights hanging above tables along the side walls. There are usually black and white table cloths. The lovely patio in the back offers a peaceful spot with plenty of flowers in the garden. The only dressing offered for the salad is a house dressing, and it is so good, they actually sell it in the restaurant. I wish the bread would be served warm, but it is still good Italian bread. I've had several of the meals, my favorite being the ravioli, and always too full for dessert. I hate to leave, so I always do the "self-tour" upstairs. This restaurant doubles as a bed and breakfast, and offers an interesting decor. A large banquet room upstairs makes for a perfect bridal dinner, while the adjacent private dining room is a great spot to break it to the hubby, that he's about to be a dad. Free parking completes this trip, with valet service also available, even though it's right outside the door. I park my own! Think I've talked myself into dinner there tonight.

Waited for an hour to get our food. The Italian wedding soup had 1 tiny meatball and tasted like it came out of a can. Our server only took our order (which she got wrong) and never came back until I had to hunt her down for the check. The hostess was trying to make sure everyone in the restaurant had refills on water and acted more like a server than a hostess. The food was very average at best. Very disappointed. I will not recommend or return.

Food was great. Service was amazing. I ordered a dish that usually takes a lot of work for the customer to eat ( removing tails from shrimp & pulling mussels out of their shells). At this restaurant, they do all of that for you ! The marinara sauce was amazing all by itself. To top it all off they make almost everything from scratch. The price is worth the experience and delicious food.

Just go here, do yourself a favor. I got the manicotti and it was PERFECT. Staff was wonderful and attentive. Bruschetta was awesome, the house salad was awesome. Atmosphere is very vintage and cool, you sort of feel like you might be on a set from the Godfather. Great place, even better food.

Poor poor quality food. This place serves tinned preserved / frozen food and tries to pass it off as high end food. It's awful, to call it cafeteria food is a compliment and worst of all, charged high end prices. Went here for "special occasion" and was so let down and disappointed.

The food was delicious! It was very nice and classy looking inside, and we were seated on their backyard patio which was much larger than expected and quite adorable. A good amount of options on the food, and while it's not super cheap the prices were not unreasonable for sure.

My all time favorite restaurant in the Cleveland area. Old fashioned, great food, great staff, and the atmosphere is just right. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Italian food and is in the Little Italy area of Cleveland.
