I had a decent experience with Group Health Co-op. The customer service representatives were average and the website was okay. The coverage and pricing were satisfactory. There are better options available, but it gets the job done.

Group Health Co-op is an average company. The customer service is decent and the website is easy to navigate. However, the prices are a bit high and the coverage could be better. Overall, it gets the job done but there is definitely room for improvement.

If I could give negative stars it would still be to generous for this group of bungling incompetence! Let's start with being sent home from hip surgery with Zero pain control due to them informing me about 2 hours after surgery in Minnesota at an approved provider that the prescription could NOT be filled!! The Surgeon litteraly jumped through hoops to get me the pain management I needed due to Group health failure to communicate effectively! Or better yet having there employee contact me telling me I was approved for SSDI after my hearing when this was not correct!! All that had been done is a notation was made of when I applied and when I was denied. Now after getting bounced from Dr to Dr due to issues surrounding a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and the lack of adequate care in this area. I again am in Minnesota in Rochester after struggling to get propped care and no the special glasses I require to see and possibly help with light sensitivity are now on hold again after I sent a copy off the prescription to Group health and was told you are "good to go" only to find out I am NOT good to go!! I don't drive so I set up a ride get to the local approved eye Dr and am told by them we need a prior auth or you have to pay?? Not so good to go!
I sent the prescription to Group health with the Dr's notes in bold "tint medical nessecary due to conncusion syndrome" this insurance is bottom of the barrel at best. I didn't work my entire life and pay into a system that stinks this bad! Don't get hurt at work and be unable to work or you might end up like me!

I have had issues with a couple clinics my daughter has had to go to, so in result, have had to call and inquire with them many times regarding insurance approval on different things. I can not express how wonderful the staff is that they have working there! They are always so incredibly helpful and nice, it is never ever a bad phone call. Wish I could give them ten stars! Absolutely wonderful.

My brother was just diagnosed with stage 4 cancer ...

My brother was just diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and only have a limited of time to live. His cancer doctor wants to give him the top chemo treatment since the other type of chemo will put him in a lot pain that will shorten his life even more. My brother is only 37 and his youngest child is only three. He will not have the chance to watch his three year old grow up or ever get to walk her down the aisle on her wedding day. His cancer doctor wants to try his best to keep my brother alive for as long as possible so he can spend a little more time with his kids. On the other hand, Group health denied the treatments the doctor recommended. Seriously, my brother is stress about dying already and now they will not pay for his treatments. My brother even tried to appeal with group health since it s medically necessary for his treatments but they still denied it. Really? I guess this is how Group health runs their show. Whoever that is looking into health insurance, please reconsider before choosing this health plan.
