Great museum. Th building itself is a piece of art too. God own collection and great temporary exhibitions.

If you like modern, you are very intrigued. Unfortunately I found the old museum more fun in terms of the exhibited collection. I miss a lot.

The Rolling Stones exhibition 'Unzipped' is very worthwhile. A must for the Stones fan, but just as interesting for any other culture / music lover.

Not exactly the most impressive museum, but its alright. 15 euro entrance fee, had fun in the dark room. What else you gonna do in Groningen?

I was there in April 2004 for the exhibition on Russian landscape painters. I had left Amsterdam very early for it and was the very first visitor. And ... I was therefore the only visitor for at least fifteen minutes and had the masterpieces of Levitan, Shishkin and Vasilyev etc. completely to myself. It was an overwhelming experience!

Beautiful building, a lot of interesting art inside this museum

In the Groninger Museum you can see work by glass artist Dale Chihuly. It is fairytale beautiful. Once you have seen the exhibition, you can see a film about the life and work of Chihuly in the spacious cinema (the same floor as the cloakroom). Fantastic to see how he is working with his equally creative team :-)

Top exhibition! Come to Groningen and cheap parking at Parkbee next to station with Parkmobile.

Abominable building that totally does not fit in with the surroundings. We also enjoyed the exhibition.

Had thought it would be more interactive and exciting for children. It was a short visit.

Wonderful museum. Beautiful creation by architect Mendini. The building has been around for 25 years now. Nice mix of modern art, regional art and 16th / 17th century portraits.

For someone who can not do anything with art, the museum is boring.

Wow! The architecture knocks you out from the outside as well as from the inside! The exhibitions are great too! If you want to see everything, it is relatively expensive, but definitely worth it !!

I loved it. The "presence" of Daan Roosegaarde was impressive, interactive and created an exuberant exuberance with my family. The Pronkjewails exhibition is also very beautiful, especially considering the story that goes with it. Fixed parts as usual in a museum, fun and beautiful. Lots of variation in themes and eras.

When you enter there is a store and restaurant.

To reach the exhibitions you have to go down a staircase or elevator.

There you can drop off your coat and bag at the wardrobe for free.

Daan Roosegard's light installations are more than worth seeing in addition to the classic art of paintings and paintings with the light installations. These were created especially for the Groninger Museum. Here the visitor can touch and design the art objects. Awesome astonishment translates into active influence and action. The visitors have influence. Well suited for families with children from 3 years! Children are clearly at ease with this art. The entrance fee for the adult is quite high at 15 Euro, but until the age of 18 the admission is free.

Anyway beautiful architecture and interesting collection. Handy audio tour, although it is often very unclear which route you are supposed to walk. That can easily be improved. If you are in Groningen, you should definitely visit.

The exhibition Unzipped on the Rolling Stones is unparalleled not only for an old rocker!

The world famous American artist Dale Chihuly (1941). A spectacle of glass, light and color for the whole family. The exhibition has been put together especially for the museum in collaboration with Chihuly Studio. It is the largest Chihuly museum exhibition in Europe in the last 20 years. Constructed from 16 installations, both inside and outside the museum, it offers a complete overview of all the highlights from the artist's oeuvre.
For the exhibition, an audio tour with four music themes that have a link with Seattle has been developed.

About Dale Chihuly

Dale Chihuly (1941, Tacoma, Washington) is known for his pioneering influence on studio glass art and the enhancement of the glass experience. During his 50-year career he became famous with iconic glass sculptures, a medium that appeals to him because it is one of the few light-transmitting materials. Because it is solid but at the same time fragile and fragile, the artist has always found the material to be challenging and he is constantly looking for limits in terms of shape and size. Glass, however, is not the only material the artist uses to realize his vision: he also draws and paints and has made large installations with, for example, neon, ice and Polivitro - a plastic with visual properties comparable to glass.

Installations outside

Works are not only exhibited inside, but also around the Groninger Museum building. Two installations are built outside: Red Reeds (2010), consisting of a collection of culms up to three meters high made of red glass blown in Finland and Neon 206 (2017), glass tubes in angular shapes filled with neon and argon gas and of provide power.

Nice collection. Something for everyone. Nice centrally located museum. Easily accessible and can be combined with the city.

Even the kids were happy. We also did something in the studio, the exhibitions were varied and the building interesting!

Surprising and very well cared for overview of the history of women's suffrage. There was a great deal of social support to the corners of the Netherlands. And many men supported the initiative. I also visited the own collection of paintings. The Vismarkt is a beautiful picture with a row of tall trees on either side and at the end that beautiful A-church.

What a fantastic museum and the exhibition CHIHULY is showpiece. Various spelse form the design and the colors are brilliant artist. You have to see it...

Wonderful museum in Groningen. Always beautiful exhibitions with modern art. The building of, among others, Mendini itself is already a sight. Directly at central station. With shop and restaurant.

Parking very difficult, places nearby only for 1std, near the train station, staff very friendly / helpful, installation very interesting

The Groninger museum is very beautiful. Don't travel all over the country for it like I once did, but don't miss it when you're in the North. A diverse collection of art and design in the beautiful complex designed by Philippe Starck in his heyday. The pieces from the Italian Memphis group are quite inspiring as a designer. More fun than mudflat walking!

Nice building, nice exhibition but at the start it is a bit unclear with the tickets

It can be good, but make sure you go during an exhibition or you might find some empty walls when it is already a smaller museum. But it is free for students and worth checking out if you are one.
