Super course!! It s not particularly long, but it is fun, pretty, and all about the golf experience. There are some difficult tee shots with risk/reward play. Has a handful of narrow greens, some w hazards just in front/sides, and a few sloping away, so some golf shots required. I was hugely surprised because the 3.8 rating is RIDICULOUSLY LOW. I did play at 2pm and was able to finish so I got the twilight price and I can only think some people may complain to pay $75 or public course can play slow, but if you get in the right time/price and just don t worry about pace and have fun... you will love it. Also, I went in mid Winter so the foliage wasn t especially lush , but I can imagine spring/summer/fall are gorgeous. Definitely coming back SOON!!

The course is always in good shape. However, trying to work with management is the most painful thing I've ever done. I've been trying to get a partial membership refund processed for over 3 months and now they have just started completely ignoring me. I will be cancelling my membership and giving my money to a club that respects it's members.

BEWARE: Beyond disappointed with this course but primarily by the greens. Clearly there s been a fungus and no mention of it in the reviews, from the club house or the starter. If and when you choose to golf here in 2019 be prepared to spend your day frustrated by the 80-90% sand greens with no difference in green fees.

It pains me to leave poor reviews, but this one simply cannot be avoided. Played the course this morning with a few of my buddies. We never saw a bev-cart while we were on the course. Called in on 13 and were told someone would come out, but that didn't happen. Finish the round and go into the pro-shop to simply let them know that there was no bev-cart during the round which seems pretty strange for a Saturday and am met with an employee telling me that it's not his department and if I have a complaint I can go speak with food and beverage. I've worked in customer service, sales, and now customer success for just about my entire life and have worked at several golf courses, including Grey Rock. Last time I checked everyone at the course in a customer facing role has reason to care if guests are dissatisfied during their experience. Moreover, I was just trying to give the guy a heads up so that they could handle it. Instead he dismisses me to the food and beverage department which I'll admit, irritated me from a lacking in empathy standpoint, so I asked him if he simply did not care that there was a problem occurring. It was at this point that a tall, older gentleman who I'm assuming is the head pro jumped into the conversation exclaiming that he didn't need customers coming into his pro-shop mouthing off to his staff about issues that are not their concern. I'm not really sure what else there is to say. We spent over 4 hours at your establishment and never saw a bev-cart, I wanted to let you know. It's extremely hot out and it would have been nice to buy a drink while we were on the course. All the guy had to say was, "hey man I'm sorry about that, we'll make sure we let someone know so that this can be avoided in the future." Instead not only was my concern dismissed, but I was told not to mouth off to these guys in the future. Still scratching my head over this one.

Do not book a tee time here unless you want them to take your money. They require full payment when you book a tee time and they make cancelling your tee time and getting a refund impossible. I was told to email the manager, Stephanie, to cancel and get a refund. I emailed Stephanie twice telling her I needed to cancel and she never responded, ignoring both of my emails. I still played the course because I couldn t cancel. I will say it was a nice course and with very pretty oaks.

A good place to play a few sets in. Not so sure having a man greet you at every whole is worth the admission. I will say the temperature was great that day, would rather spend my time playin wii sports with jake

Don t play this course for the price. Absolutely ridiculous they are charging near $80 per person per round even in the late afternoon on a Monday. I won t lie it is a beautiful course. But the fact that local college kids can t even get a late afternoon round in for under $50 per person is terrible marketing in my opinion. Who wants to pay $55 to go play a 5PM round of golf in the Texas heat. I ve heard they treat their members great but if you re not a member It s not worth the money. Hopefully Grey Rock sees this and rethinks their prices at least a little bit because lord knows if they brought their prices down a tad I could introduce the course to at least a dozen new players. As long as I ve lived next to Grey Rock they have never been able to realize that their course is overpriced. Maybe spend less on fireworks this year and rethink the prices instead.

The gardens are really nice but that's all. When you play a golf course that has greens that are spray painted green its a tip off that all is not well and thats Grey Rock. The entire course has been getting marginal care and overall it shows. The city of Austin bought the place and its slowly envolving into another Muny. (Think Lions Golf course here) and it shows. They are trying to push as many people through the place as possible and to do so the marshals are extremely rude and push groups even when they aren't playing slow. Our group finished in under 4 hours and we had marshals harassing us for slow play the entire back nine. When we finished the round I emailed the general manager (she wasn't there at the time) that she needed to send all her people to charm school and that my wife and myself would not be returning.

It's a nice family friendly golf course with adjacent tennis courts. There is live music on the weekends that costs $5. The drinks at the bar are made quite strong, which is a good thing.

Great course set up from pro shop / grill to the driving range. Greens are great honest reads and break fast but manageable. Tee boxes and fairways cause for strategic placement. Always a great time!

The course is in beautiful condition, a pleasant surprise for being managed by the city. A challenging track that will surely test your skills off the tee. Greens were rolling true and at a good pace when played 9/28/2019.

First time to play this couse since the city of Austin took it over years ago. The course was in great shape. The greens were a little slow, but it overall it was decent value for $76 on a Sunday morning.

Played here for the first time this past weekend. I very much liked the layout of the course. Everything but the greens was in great shape. They were obviously dealing with some issues on the greens as they were all less than 50% grass. We were putting on sand the majority of the time. No one ever mentioned this to us when booking our tee time or paying for our round. We didn't find out about the poor green conditions until we were on the first one. A major disappointment, especially considering the green fees that they charge. I hope they get it fixed soon. Definitely ask about the green conditions before booking your round. Once the greens are fixed I would like to play here again.

Just played this course yesterday, 4/25/2019. I imagine this was once a top-notch course, but not the case right now. Greens are in complete despair and are simply not playable on at least half of the holes. It s borderline fraud that the clubhouse doesn t inform you of this before you make a tee time or even tee off after deliberately asking about their greens. A little sandy was their reply, as if they just aerated or something. Not even close to reality - which is, these greens need replaced. If you think putting is a meaningful part of the game of golf, don t bother going to this course anytime soon.
