This company sucks big time. Went to one of their e-waste events at the Cummings Center Beverly. All e-waste gets put on the loading dock before being put into their vans. Someone was throwing out a piece of test equipment. I picked it up and asked the guy in charge if I could have it. Note: at this point it hadn't been touched by them - it was sitting in a pile waiting to be sorted. I was told that I couldn't have it and that they didn't allow anyone to take anything that was put out for them. I even offered him money for it - but I wasn't allowed to have it. Either these people are greedy or just idiots. Apart from the fact that the items don't belong to them until they go into their van, you think they could have just said yes - what was one piece of equipment to them out of all the servers they got ? Stay away. I'm going to consult with a lawyer on this. My take is that the stuff doesn't belong to them until it gets into their hands. Also NO MONEY was exchanging hands here - it didn't cost the donors anything to give it away and it didn't cost the company anything to take it away - FREE all round. So they have no legal right to not allow people to take stuff that is sitting there before it goes into their property. It's not like the stuff had been placed in boxes belonging to the company. If I go back next time, I will be armed with a lawyers letter and maybe a letter from the Cummings Center saying it is OK to take stuff. I am very upset about this incident.
