About Greater Wyoming Big Brothers Big Sisters
Greater Wyoming Big Brothers Big Sisters: Building a Better Future for Children
Big Brothers Big Sisters is not your typical organization. We help children realize their potential and build their biggest possible futures. We nurture, guide, and support them to become confident, competent, and caring adults. Our mission is to create positive change in the lives of young people by providing them with one-to-one mentoring relationships that inspire growth and development.
At Greater Wyoming Big Brothers Big Sisters (GWBBBS), we are committed to making a difference in the lives of children in our community. For over 50 years, we have been matching adult volunteers with children who need a positive role model in their lives. Our programs are designed to provide support and guidance to children facing adversity by connecting them with caring mentors who can help them navigate life's challenges.
Our programs are based on research that shows that mentoring relationships can have a profound impact on young people's lives. By providing consistent support and guidance from a trusted adult mentor, children can develop the skills they need to succeed academically, socially, emotionally, and professionally.
We offer several different mentoring programs at GWBBBS:
Community-Based Mentoring: This program matches adult volunteers with children between the ages of 6-18 for one-to-one mentoring relationships that take place outside of school hours.
School-Based Mentoring: This program matches adult volunteers with elementary school students for one hour per week during the school day.
Site-Based Mentoring: This program matches adult volunteers with high school students for one hour per week during the school day at local businesses or organizations.
Mentor2.0: This technology-enhanced program connects high school students with college-educated mentors through an online platform that provides academic support and career guidance.
All of our programs are designed to provide meaningful connections between mentors and mentees while also promoting positive youth development outcomes such as improved academic performance, increased self-esteem, better social skills, reduced risky behaviors like drug use or violence among others.
At GWBBBS we believe every child deserves an opportunity to reach their full potential regardless of their background or circumstances they face daily; therefore we work hard every day towards achieving this goal by providing quality mentorship services free-of-charge thanks largely due generous donations from individuals like you who share our vision for creating brighter futures for all kids!
In conclusion,
