Terrible Network. After your PCP puts in a referral it takes months to get in to see a specialist. When you do get in they do not want to spend time with you because you have a cheap HMO insurance. If you are MCMG it takes forever to get a referral to a specialist. If you are Hoag you get in right away. You might get someone nice if you call GNP or you might get someone with an attitude. They are very unhelpful.

I love my PCP Dr Doan. She and her staff really care about my health. Anytime I need to see a specialist I get a referral and an appointment in a timely manner. I ve been with GNP for over 6 years, and I m very happy with them and their doctors. I ve rarely had a copayment. Of course copayments are based on your carrier s benefits. I have SCAN insurance and I am very happy with them also.

I wish I could give a better review but mine is the same as everyone else. No appointments, slow response, nobody cares, no patient compassion. If you have a serious condition you should seek help elsewhere because you will probably die waiting to be acknowledged. If you have HMO insurance it s even worse, because what healthcare doesn t want you to know is that there are multiple layers of administrative non medical groups (like GNP) taking a piece of the medical reimbursement (money) from your visit with the doctor so that the doctor is barely making any money. GNP is an Administrative group that provides Utilization Review and Claims Management on behalf of your health plan. They are incentivized to keep costs down and that includes denying your claims/services they deem unnecessary. There is no incentive to help you as the patient, you are not their customer. The insurance company is their customer and if the insurance company is leasing a doctor network from another entity... then that entity is also their customer. They make deals with sub-networks and those sub-networks take a portion of the money paid for your visit so that your doctor is receiving about half of what they bill. The bottom line is though: YOU ARE NOT GNP S CUSTOMER. So stop kidding yourself to think you will receive any customer service. You are only the commodity from which they trade upon.

This is in regards to changing my last name on the GNP records. I start my written and phone request in 2019, followed up again in 2020. Was informed to contact Mr Barajas (supervisor) at GNP/Memorial care. I had sent all the required documents multiple times via their correct email address and to two supervisors. Off all the 'assurances" that it will be corrected, to date - nothing has been done. They are horrible at follow up. As a result, when I have to schedule appointments with anyone affiliated with GNP.. I have to use my married name and not my legal name. I have waited a long time, and didn't want to write a bad review. BUT GNP is not great on the customer service line.

I need a referral for my daughter for out patient surgery, wants her to go to a surgery center and also won't approve meds she needs for says surgery? YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! As soon as my daughters surgery is done, We are OUT of this medical group and the doctors are just as bad!

Folks - if your loved one has Medicare Part C, be advised that GNP will administer their healthcare and make decisions that is based on profit and not what is best for the patient. I had a family member that went through a medical condition that started out in the ER, was admitted into the hospital for a short stay of a few days. Then they were transferred to a rehabilitation center. After a month, we were advised that the Medicare insurance coverage would be terminated as it was decided by the physicians at GNP that they no longer needed care at the rehab center. Absolutely amazing. So my family member was kicked out unless we were willing to pay over $300.00/day out of pocket to stay at this facility. GNP's initial decision was appealed and was denied. All the healthcare professionals, from the staff Dr. to nurses and physical therapists, everyone could see the situation of this patient and agreed that discharge was not a good option at that time. But in the end, GNP made the decision without actually verifying the patient's current condition. So in the end, GNP will kick your loved ones out of any rehab facility if they made any minuscule progress or if they made no progress, the end result will be the same. So it does appear that profit, money in someone's pocket, is more important than the patient's actual progress and condition. Do not get into a long term medical situation with Medicare Part C especially if it is managed by GNP!!!

Wow, what a horrible medical group now. Many of the doctors cannot get you in to be seen in a resonable timeframe. My child waited 2 weeks to be seen by a GP. Only then to be misdiagnosed twice. He was sick from July-October. He then went to the ER 3 times because the GP did not want to write more than one referral at a time. My child was finally admitted to the hospital for 1-week and finally diagnosed with a life long disease. Still has a pending appointment since September, which hasn't been fulfilled over a month later. Thank god it's not fatal. Once released from the hospital he was told to be seen by a pediatrician within 24 hours. Once again this network didn't have a doctor that could see him. The quickest they can get him in is 4-days. Parents stay away from Greater Newport Physicians. This once good group is now a Joke. Many of the doctors are not properly advocating for there patients due to poor policies, long wait times. Think twice before picking this group, also they probably switched your hospital without your knowledge. Hoag may not be your home hospital anymore. Beware and good luck.

Horrible experience. Takes30 plus minutes to get a live person. After 6 months of visits to my PCP I get a notice my PCP is not in the Humana network. I am paying medicare premiums and have no doctor because Humana says doc is part of the network. After 12 calls over 3 months GNPN still will not work this out with Humana.

I am so disappointed with Greater Newport. Without getting into the details of the situation, we had to call and handle a referral with them, but their customer service rep told us we were just a number and needed to wait in the queue until our number was up. She kept reiterating this and had zero sense of compassion for the reason that we even needed this referral in the first place. No one wants to be treated like they're just a number. This was a terrible experience and their customer service reps could use better training and human decency. At least the one we dealt with needs it.
