Hotel is nice. However 50% of staff not wearing face masks, especially off putting when been served food and drink in the bar. No social distancing being followed. A group of 5 in the bar in their 50's clearly not eating dinner but just drinking ( doing a round of shots with every drink) shouting and using vulgar language you f'ing C word every 2 miniuts that were clearly disturbing all other guests however the bar staff said nothing to them even though they were clearly upsetting all guests around my table. Also they were walking in and out a fire door to smoke and leaving the door open. We had to get up several times to close door ourselfs. If it was a bunch of 18 year olds they would have been asked to leave. Very disappointed.
Beautiful hotel
only problem only 1lift
Described as 4* but not anywhere near this standard. Room was dowdy and hardly any lamps working. No lights at all in the bat(h)room! Shower broken, taps broken, sink plug wrong size! No TV remote.
Food very disapointing. Fixed price E30 menu. Restaurant closes at 8pm! Wine served warm. Not exactly the gourmet dining that the owners promise on their website.
You can get so much better quality and value elsewhere.
Absolutely Amazing Hotel. Staff were so helpful and friendly Leisure centre was brilliant and the food was excellent. Walk out the side gate of the hotel and your on the walkway around Rougey. Right beside the beach. Will be returning again very soon.
professional service, very clean environment. staff are very friendly and helpful, highly recommended to all out there
Family friendly, great food, great facilities ( decent gym for those who are interested ) and the surrounding landscape and natural beauty is worth the effort!
Brilliant hotel. Staff are helpful. Have stayed a few times here
Overall a good hotel. Room and hotel decor are a bit of a throw back, but in a pleasant way. Lots of families, so not a quiet retreat. Excellent views, but a bit of a walk to get down town. Finner was good, just a long wait.
Brilliant. It's like a little peace of history, love the old feel of the building. Happy friendly staff. Hotel is clean and inviting. Food was good.
Good hotel but decor could do with an update, great hospitality, great location
Staff very rude especially in dining room, bar staff practically ignore you
Elegant rooms and a entertaining pub. All I require for a great stay. Will be returning!
Lovely stay; staff were pleasant and friendly, the bar food was good. Just one thing- they say they gave 'fresh fish' on the breakfast menu but they didn't have any on the 3 days I was there. If you don't have it, don't advertise it.
best location
nice service
poor and cold breakfast toast the best
rooms great
4 o clock check-in in awful late, seems restaurant is catered for people with package dinners - menus is all inclusive - no prices, offers in room don't exist in restaurant. Bar food was nice, eating dinner in part isn't much of an option, ok for lunch but that it. 13for a chicken burger without chips ect included is a bit much, coffee expensive and not good. Not a bad hotel - few little things they could do to improve.
Lunch service forgot my order and was bland scrappy when it did appear
Location is spectacular, rooms are comfortable and food was enjoyable.
Having a brilliant time in Donegal with our Tea Dance Group
Had a great time in the great northern hotel Bundoran hotel was very busy and very friendly staff
Rooms cud do with dusting bed covers with stains on them. Didn't get room cleaned or clean towels cause we where still in room at 10am. They never came back to clean when I requested clean towels I had to ask twice as they where delivered to another room. Restaurant was very good quick service. Disappointed with no music in bar.
Leisure Club membership doesn't give you parking in the Leisure Club "members only" car park, that's taken by the kitchen staff who feel you should walk from the town instead.
Beautiful venue for a wedding! Gorge food & great bar. Quick service!
First night here not impressed, no loo roll in ladies toilet , glasses not been cleared from tables .tell you more tomorrow
Comfortable rooms , quick bar service, great breakfast
My two sistersand myself had a fantastic weekend here a few weeks ago.Our room was outstanding and very friendly and helpful staff, especially receptionist Amanda.I would highly recommend this place and we hope to go back again in the near future.I forgot to mention the gorgeous scenery.
Fantastic location for a hotel and golf course with views across Donegal bay and a great scenic walk along the cliff tops
Quiet off season break with good food and peaceful surroundings
Very enjoyable stay , staff very friendly , breakfast could be improved with more variety e.g potato bread, soda bread, mushrooms . Would not keep me from returning , looking forward to our next break there.
The luck of the irish was not with us on this one! Looks like they have some amazing rooms online but we did not get a chance to experience them. A broken shower door, some missing sheets, a tiny TV, and a shower head growing something green and funky took away from the nice people and location of the great northern.
Best staff in the world but the food is very very poor. I like Brian mcEnniff so won't leave a bad review. The setting is beautiful and hotel is class. If you take away the staff it's a one star. They are the spirit of Tir Chonnail.
It is a lovely hotel with good service. It is outdated luxury but this adds to the atmosphere. Views are beautiful.
Very nice at the seaside. A catch, there is no air conditioning
Certainly I wouldn't give this a four star rating ...it doesn't live up to it by any means..My room and the smell of cigarette smoke ,the net curtains that dressed the window smelt ,had cigarette burns and black marks... Mini Shower ... door I could hardly open ..rubber kept sticking to the bottom ,thought is was going to come off the hinges...
4 ft.6 " bed...though I was the only occupant it was by all intensive purposes a double room ... tea service for two people...toilet products also for two..heavy,heavy duvet mid summer...Really disappointing as it has all the hall marks for an amazing hotel....if only!!!! Staff were friendly
