A century-old hotel with elegant interiors and high grounds.
There are trails around the hotel, you can watch the city view, the surging waves, surfing, seabirds, the room is comfortable, only the rolling of the closet door is closed all night, but the closet of my room is good, maybe The building has been in existence for a hundred years, and it is inevitable that there will be some strange sounds.

Awful disappointing. Brown towels in swimming pool ? Pool tiny. Sauna and steam room not warm never mind hot in the height of tourist season. The only reason I picked this hotel is because of the spa facilities. Room adequate but nothing special. Not very big. Supposed to be a 4 hotel, come on , are they serious. Shower door broken and water trickling when turned on. Overpriced and over valued.

Free parking and good WiFi. Only stayed one night. The hotel has live bands playing and being the first floor, it s as if they were in the room. So if you require a quiet place, this wasn t really it. It did go quiet after about 10pm. Breakfast was OK. Poached eggs on the mini Irish breakfast was a bit sad as it was solid in the centre. Other than that it was clean and the receptionists were friendly.

This is the best hotel I've ever been in my life, but there's not much of an option for dinner but it wasn't that bad, but it was great, I've enjoyed it a lot and I hope I come back to this hotel soon

I stayed in The Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran last week, with a group of people who are visually impaired. We were very happy with our stay. The staff in every area of the hotel, were most helpful and friendly, and could not do enough for us. The food was excellent, and the rooms very comfortable. This was our second year staying in The Great Northern and we hope to return next year.

Recently stayed here for a wedding. Check-in was rushed and didn't tell me what time check-out was or that the room was not ready. Food at the wedding was superb. The room was a little dated but comfortable. The bedrooms need better sound insulation as I could hear every step and word from the guests directly above. When checking out, the front desk lady made a call while attending to me and I mentioned that the shower didn't drain.

On our way home from a one night stay here with our 2 year old daughter. Pictures advertised are very misleading as the rooms in the pictures looked modern and that is not what we got. The whole hotel is very rundown. The entrance hall is the first thing you see and it smelt old and musty. Felt like I'd stepped back in time about 50 years. The pool was cold so we couldn't stay too long as our daughter was freezing and the towels provided were old orange coloured with bleach stains and holes in them. The lobby and bar etc were OK but again could do with a little refurbishing. The remote for the TV was grubby I actually had to clean it with a wipe before I could use it, and then there was about 3 channels to watch with very poor signal. Wifi only available in common areas and not in the rooms. The curtains in our room had holes and the room in general was just shabby. This place has so much potential if it was refurbished and modernised. Staff were friendly and welcoming but I'm afraid we won't be making another visit.
Perfect for the older couple but not for young couples/families.

The staff were amazing, very helpful and kind. The main let down for me was breakfast. I don't eat meat of dairy so my choice was limited, which was fine. I asked for some beans but they were served partly cold as if they were just heated in a microwave.

My work colleague got the mini breakfast and he had a similar comment in that it was as if he breakfast had just been reheated.

My daughters were sitting in the hotel waiting for their cousins to come out since they were lost and were kicked out by a lady. They said the lady was writing down stuff as she was asking about them.

Beautiful Hotel! Amanda the lady at the reception was very friendly had a lovely personality and chatted with us about all there was to do in and around the hotel. Nothing was to much for her or the rest of the staff. Room was lovely clean and comfortable with a brilliant view of the gold course.
Food was great and the only small criticism I have would be to chance the Bruno Mars cd in the dinning room, its got the same few songs on repeat :)
Cant wait to come here again VERY soon

Stayed here week or 2 ago after looking on the website I thought lovly rooms lovely place I ll book it rooms not in any way similar to website pictures not as posh and luxurious extremely outdated and needs furnishing , wall paper coming off the walls in my room carpet old and discoloured chairs in the room broken , beds comfy but small I just had a standard double room but not like the pictures at all , food not the nicest but cheap breakfast was good but does take a long time to come out pool is lovly surroundings lovly it s a lovly location but rooms need to be done up and fixed more modern Ino the theme of the hotel but rooms really bad . Also rooms don t have there own heating system so even though it was summer Ireland s cold i froze the second night there . Compared to other hotels 4* it s nice but outdated and althought people say sure ur away u won t be in the room that much when ur in Ireland and it s raining out you d like a big comfy luxurious room to relax in . Tv tiny flat screen not smart tv like other hotels .

My husband and I had a great first stay in the Great Northern Hotel last week . The evening meal each night was excellent in the beautiful restaurant. Staff were lovely friendly efficient and professional even in strange Covid times all so well organised. Bonus was the walk down to the beach from the hotel, the lovely cliff walk and the sea views from room thanks to a lady called Marian in reservations ! Cannot wait to visit Great Northern Hotel we will continuously look out for specials !!

Went here for a spot of lunch. The staff here are very kind and friendly. The service of the food is amazing and the quality of the food is exceptional. This place is great for a spot of lunch but if you order the French fries, expect to get chunky fries.

Like other people mentioned the rooms are dated but large. If you are large, the toilet is going to be difficult. Ample parking, stellar location. Did bed and breakfast, good morning coffee, breakfast was good. ( Android Pay = Yes)

I've stayed here twice before so I knew I like the place. The rooms are cute and the beds are super comfortable! They have a little bar in the restaurant and it's a great little bar as well. You get coffee and breakfast if you choose to have it downstairs. Staff is extremely friendly, I will be back here for sure. Prices are very fair for a very good room.

Bar is open all day, which makes the Great Northern Hotel a nice place for a break after walking Bundoran beach and the Fairy Bridges. Recommendation: Potato wedges/halves are good and so are the scones and the Chocolate muffin (+ ice cream).
We fed the baby in a quiet area and that worked super fine as well.

I visited here today for lunch with my parents who are seniors, and had an upsetting interaction with the bar manager. She was rude and aggressive from the very start, her manner does not suit front of house at all. We paid 40 for lunch and when the food arrived we said that it wasn t what we ordered but were ok to take two of the sandwiches , but would like what we ordered for the third (Toasted sandwiches v plain sandwiches). The manager was snippy and short with my Dad, telling him he was going to have to wait, and reminded me again that I got the order wrong!!! Long story short she sent another bill down to the table with another member of staff for the replacement sandwich . When I queried it, the waiter said he was told to send it down to us. I actually paid it and feel very foolish. I will be contacting the hotel to ask them to donate the money I paid for the sandwich I didn t order to charity. <br/>Poor show today, no need at all for the unprofessional attitude and the upset she caused.
