Great Dixter House, first view inside. Explanation of how people lived here. First a shed in which was fired and the workers were around it. The family lived on the first floor, who could secretly look down through a hatch. They had enlisted the help of architect Lutyens for renovations. He wanted everything back to its original state. Appears messy now. A gigantic wooden beam for the fireplace is more than 1000 years old. The associated garden should definitely be viewed!

Well worth a visit for garden inspiration of a more varied kind. The house volunteers were very informative and friendly. I would like to go again soon to buy several of their plants, which are outstanding in health (as might be expected) and value.

Great Dixter is just a wonderful place to visit. It is very inspirational for plating ideas as you see combinations that you think that look magnificent but you would not necessarily put them together yourself.

The gardens have totally different areas so something for everyone. I find the pots if you have a small garden you can get ideas for grouping pots.
The nursery is great as really well stocked with a great selection of plants. Staff are polite.

I did speak to one volunteer who unfortunately could do with some lessons in interpersonal skills as she clearly needed some extra training but that was just a small matter. The staff generally are really polite and professional. The house is really worth a visit.

The cafe is fine but the cake was nice but the coffee was ok,
Entrance price was very reasonable but I would strongly encourage people to go the plant fairs as they are excellent.
Really worth a visit.

My wife who went on a Sarah Raven special to this place says that it is better now than when Christopher Lloyd was in charge... which is important.

Under developed for its facilities but that is possibly part of it charm

Wonderful gardens crammed with plants and flowers ...

Wonderful gardens crammed with plants and flowers located on a hillside in Northiam with an excellent and inexpensive plant nursery with many unusual plants for sale. The only issue I have is that the cafe is a little bit basic
