The Great Dane, specifically this location, is easily one of our favorite places in the area! The fish fry options are awesome! My cod was amazing. My wife loved her Mayan Chicken Wrap, and our whole family enjoyed the fried cheese curds. The Scotch Ale and IPA are both very good! We will be back!
food was awesome, but need some extra staff! the lady working today on the upper lever was so nice, but im really feeling sad for her because she was doing everything by herself
We visited on a quiet afternoon and expected a lot better food and service than we received. Our poor server had several large tables entirely by herself and it clearly showed in her service. She was great and did the best she could but it was a clear issue of management to allow it, we waited a while for both a greeting, drinks and food and the quick afternoon meal turned out to be longer than we hoped. The wings were extremely hard, dry and almost inedible and the poutine was very bland and came out at room temp as if it was sitting out, again our poor server most likely couldn t grab our food in a timely matter due to the other large tables she was also serving. Kudos to her though because she was great and handled the situation very well! We unfortunately won t be back anytime soon though.
The food here is so bland, and the service is usually bad. I have supported the Great Dane a lot during the pandemic, since I live in the neighborhood, but the food prices for the quality of the food is just out of whack.
I usually order the Mayan Chicken Wrap, which barely has any chicken in it. Today I tried the Mexican Rice Bowl, a new item on the menu. It was so, so flavorless. Nothing tasted fresh. It occurred to me that they use the same exact chicken in the rice bowl as they do in the chicken wrap. The only reason the wrap is palatable is because it has dressing in it.
Ironically, my favorite menu item is the chicken pot pie, which I usually order with the applesauce. Sometimes the applesauce is cooked, sometimes the apples are undercooked and they forget the cinnamon .
The waitstaff has always been really friendly here, but EVERY time I have come in for sit-down service (before the pandemic), it takes FOREVER to get someone to bring you the check. I once waited an hour, staring down the waitress every time she d walk by. She never walked close enough for me to get her attention. Finally I gave up and went up to the bar to ask someone to get out check...
I ve had better experiences at the downtown Great Dane, and I don t hate this one... but I really wish they would focus more on food quality, consistency, and creating a more interesting menu.
On May 15, 2021 we stopped in for what used to be a favorite dinner spot. We were greeted to a 1 yr ago time warp back into the depths of Covid procedures. There were tables pushed up against the bar to prevent anyone from getting a beverage from the masked bartender. Signs stating "no loitering" while we waited for an excessively spaced table. Wheather management or excessive county restrictions, it's not difficult to find much better choices for a night out.
Food was not good. Wait staff asked my partner (the only black man she was waiting on) if he was able to pay for the food before giving it to him. Very unprofessional.
Only time she was nice was at the end when we were leaving.
I live in the area and have enjoyed the food & drinks at your establishment more than 25 times in the past few years. Tonight I paid $43 bucks for two ice cold burgers and soup delivered. Ordered medium rare and both burgers were so burnt we just threw them in the trash. Wow!! I live 4-5 minutes from your location. I really expected better from your restaurant group. I get it, it might be cold do to the delivery driver but why did anyone let this food leave your kitchen burnt to a crisp? As an industry professional, there is obviously no excuse.

Great Dane used to be our #1 choice for eating out but we've noticed a difference in quality and price (increases) that have negatively impacted our experience there. All our favorites are slowly being taken off of the menu as well (smothered and covered chicken and Jamaican Jerk flavored wings).
Today we noticed the Jamaican Jerk wings were in the menu so ordered dinner through Dane. Though told it's the same, unfortunately it's a different recipe and not the original. Dane please change the name of it as it is very misleading. Also had to wait over 20 minutes for curbside pickup even though text said my food was ready.

We had such a great time at the Great Dane! It so nice to have dine in sitting available let again. Greg was our server and was amazing. We also received a lot of help from Samantha on some problem solving and she was super kind and generous! We will be back!
