Can't believe what they charge for run down painted cinderblock rooms. Common area amenities and dining are nice.

These buildings were cool 40 years ago. Now they're old, oppressive student slums. Tiny rooms, porthole windows that don't open and probably tons of asbestos throughout.
Time to knock these depressing public housing projects down and build something on a human scale.

Very surprised to find out a few weeks before check in that my son needs his own $100,000 personal liability policy in order to move in.

Megan and Allison are the best ever! Sincere people who absolutely have the students best interest at heart. My son Cameron had a great year, aided by the wonderful people who helped him along the way. Traditionally dorm rooms are all similar, Granville is a cut above. They may have normal dorm issues but the food the quality of staff and the constant updates and upgrades remind me of how wonderful they truly can be . We have decided to stay Granville all four years because of the stability, security and the accompaniments and amenities that they offer . The food is abov average.Always available and want to make you feel special, David and Diana. Go Heels!

"The place to be at UNC." Granville is close to Franklin street, classes, and has many great amenities. Delicious food, fun people, a workout room, a pool, and a 24-hour assistance desk.

The location is absolutely perfect. We are positioned right by the best Target with a Starbucks and CVS, Franklin Street, and Campus. The Carolina Inn is also the most hospitable neighbor for cozy studying that feels like home. Classes are super close since we are a 5 minute walk from campus. Bus routes come right by and through our own community. The new green space we share with Carolina Square is gorgeous, fun for playing with neighbor's dogs or setting up for some studying or relaxation on a sunny day. The amenities in Granville itself are always a great plus. No need for expensive meal plans with tight time frames; the Agora is right in our buildings and there is always a great selection. No need to walk 15 minutes to the nearest gym, its right here too and then you can shower in your own room! Granville is a great community to live in as a UNC Student!

Franklin room layout perfect for a music major! Were able to fit a full size keyboard and arrange room perfectly. Move in assistance was 5 star. Can't beat the location for East Tower near everything.
DO NOT LIVE IN GRANVILLE.
DO NOT LIVE IN GRANVILLE.
Do not trust the reviews on their website--many are written by employees.
I am currently a resident here, and I am counting down the days until I am able to leave. Please don't make the mistake of being lured in by the location--it is simply not worth it.
The management is consistently rude and unwilling to help. I have noticed that the staff acts bubbly and charming when giving tours to potential residents, yet the interactions with current residents are dismal at best.
The central fuse in my room (which also controls the adjoining room) has blown at least a dozen times, leaving both me and my suitemate without power. When I went to the front desk to ask for assistance, they refused to call maintenance, saying that it was not important enough to warrant intervention. The individual I spoke with told me that "unless water was flooding my room, he would not call maintenance" and proceeded to laugh. (The process of calling maintenance involves speaking into a walkie talkie for about 10 seconds--an apparently insurmountable obstacle for this individual).
The heating/AC system is seasonal, which means that there are two settings: heating and cooling. Only one is active at a time. For days at a time, my room has stayed at 80 degrees or above, despite opening my window and shelling out money for a fan. I have approached the management on several occasions with concerns about habitability and medication storage, and they were incredibly short and told me that there was nothing they could (or would) do. I spent numerous nights with friends because it was so incredibly hot.
TL;DR:
The buildings are outdated and unkempt. Despite resident dissatisfaction and habitability concerns, the management refuses to update the HVAC and electrical systems.
This review is just the tip of the iceberg.
Granville may appear to be a good option for freshmen looking to live on Franklin--but trust me, it is a dangerous illusion. Stay away

Granville Towers is the place to be at UNC. It's situated between campus and Franklin Street, so everything is in walking distance. The Agora is convenient for food, and the mantenance staff do a great job of being timely and efficient.

My overall experience over the course of a year spent living at Granville Towers was a positive one. However, there were mold infestations which went undiscovered until the spring, meaning that we [the residents] had been breathing toxic mold for months without the issue being detected by GT management. This being said, Granville Towers is a perfectly enjoyable dorm for freshman year at UNC.
