Breathtaking views !!! Must visit !!! Elevator was broke which made it difficult for my Father to make it to the Swinging Bridge, but he made it. Elevator was being worked on when we were leaving. Park admission was a bit high per person but worth it. We'll be back for more hiking and spectacular views!! Be advised you must make a reservation bc of Covid-19 or they will not let you in.

they blow this place up online even the people that review it on Google and Yelp say wonderful things about how awesome this place is. If you have been anywhere else in the United States or otherwise to view mountains and drive up to high elevations you will they think this place is nonsense. plus to get up on grandfather mountain you have to pay per person not per car per person. In Colorado you can go up fourteen thousand feet on the top of Mount Evans and not pay a dime. And it's three or four times 5 times as Grand and as scenic as this

About Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation

Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation: Preserving Nature's Beauty

Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to preserve the natural beauty of Grandfather Mountain, located in Linville, North Carolina. The foundation was established in 2009 and has since then been working tirelessly to protect the mountain's unique ecosystem and promote environmental education.

The Grandfather Mountain is a popular tourist destination that attracts thousands of visitors every year. It is home to diverse wildlife habitats, including black bears, cougars, otters, eagles, and elk. The Mile-High Swinging Bridge is one of the most iconic attractions on the mountain. It offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and provides an unforgettable experience for visitors.

Apart from its natural beauty, Grandfather Mountain also has a rich cultural history. The Cherokee Indians considered it a sacred place and believed that it was home to powerful spirits. European settlers later discovered the mountain and named it after its distinctive profile that resembles an old man's face.

The Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation recognizes the importance of preserving this unique heritage for future generations. They have implemented various conservation programs aimed at protecting endangered species such as peregrine falcons and hellbender salamanders.

One such program is Habitat Restoration Project which focuses on restoring degraded habitats on Grandfather Mountain by removing invasive species like Japanese knotweed or privet hedge while planting native plants like rhododendron or dogwood trees which provide food sources for wildlife.

Another program called Wildlife Habitats Improvement Program aims at improving habitat conditions for wildlife by creating nesting sites or providing food sources during winter months when natural food sources are scarce.

In addition to conservation efforts, the foundation also promotes environmental education through their Nature Museum & Animal Habitats located at 2050 Blowing Rock Highway in Linville NC where visitors can learn about local flora/fauna as well as participate in interactive exhibits designed to teach them about ecology/conservation practices used by GMSF staff members who work hard every day ensuring our environment remains healthy!

Visitors can also take part in guided hikes led by knowledgeable staff members who share their expertise on topics such as geology or botany while exploring trails throughout this beautiful area!

The foundation relies heavily on donations from individuals who share their passion for preserving nature's beauty. By supporting GMSF financially you are helping ensure that future generations will be able to enjoy all that Grandfather Mountain has to offer while promoting sustainable practices within our community!

In conclusion, if you're looking for an unforgettable experience surrounded by nature's beauty then look no further than Grandfather Mountain! With its diverse wildlife habitats, iconic Mile-High Swinging Bridge & educational programs offered through GMSF there truly something here everyone can enjoy!
