Love the place. Staff is friendly except for the lady who kept calling me weird for disliking onions. Everything is baked on the premises and very fresh tasting. Illy coffee is ok and the prices are nice; I m glad I stumbled across this place.
It's clean, but pricey for the options. However, I left from there full and satisfied. I was given the meal I wanted promptly and the employer was nice.
By far my favorite bakery in Manhattan. If you have ever had bread at Aria/Terra/Cotenna and thought that it was amazing, it was the filone from Grandaisy. They are truly masters at their craft.
While the majority of their business is clearly fueled by wholesale (they supply bread all over the city and have an absolutely massive kitchen), their retail location is charming with phenomenal coffee (by Illy) and other baked goodies. Make sure to try the flatbread, as all of the locals will fight you for the last piece of potato rosemary pizza.
On top of the delicious food, the staff is always friendly and efficient. I cannot say enough positive things about Grandaisy.
The best. Best staff, and the most delicious baked goods and sandwiches in the area.
Purchased a loaf of seeded bread went back the next day and picked up 6 more loafs the bread is delicious...
Rockstar place! No kidding. I was about to go into the burnt-bean paradise cuz I didn't know of anything else in the neighborhood. I caught this little corner place out of the corner of my eye.
The coffee is superb. Real coffee. Baked goods (apple turnover) this-morning fresh, tasty, and priced right. Gonna take home some bread.
Besides baked goods, they have a great selection of inventive, good sandwiches. Generous portion for the $. The staff is first-rate - super friendly and efficient.
I love the location, too. Tucked slightly off 6th ave in Tribeca with a view of Tribeca Park, nice green and low congestion area. If you're in this neighborhood looking for a place to duck in that's not mobbed with biz and tourist types . . . this is the place!
I go here once a week. I love the bread but recently they ve been over cooking it and one doesn t realize that till you get home. I don t know about you but I can t eat a whole loaf of bread in two days, which is how long the bread lasts before it becomes way too hard to eat. I always end up throwing out half.
Side note, the coffee is garbage.
The three star is for the baked goods. I order from here because it's a woman founder and some of their baked goods are very well made, simple comfort, not overly decorated. For NYC bakery the price is reasonable to be fair rent is high! Now customer service is alright, they do their job but not above and beyond, except for one young dark skin lady <apology I don't know her name, four stars>; possibly works Friday afternoons. She is professional and kind, especially when her colleague was less than. I am glad someone mentioned the Latin gentleman, he might be a manager but he is always so unwelcoming grumpy and once downright rude, thank goodness his colleague jumped in. Almost wasn't planning to return after last year. But I do like some of their baked goods and I recommend you try the apple turnover, their pizza breads, lumcan any new items. After Easter it will be my last visit for personal reasons but I want to give their Easter cake bread a try. They also make special holidays goods and challah on Fridays.
Wonderful!! They are open for pickup, got the zucchini and cauliflower flatbreads, abd the bianca, all were excellent. The staff is helpful and friendly. Thrilled that one of the city's bakeries is up and running.
