Very friendly staff. They always have free programs that are now online.
Love the library just cant stand that them old hags swear its a funeral home. My daughters and I were told to stop laughing or we had to leave!! I could understand if we were comedy club laughing but the giggles from a teenager n two young girls...REALLY??!! Havent been back since.
Nice environment, Friendly staff, Lots of good books too as well.
This Library has been a Godsend for me since my retirement. All the employees are always helpful and friendly.
It took me to the old work force ya need to update the correct address my friend from Grand prairie told me they move it over there by the library and it's inside of Bank of America on 5th floor...
Rude customer service especially the Asian girl who works there. She talks rudely to parents and as well as me!! Kids playing and not run around and she came over to tell them to stop playing!! What are the section for the kids for?? Just to sit around duh!! Not sure what s her problem but she have a crazy attitude and I will have to look for another library
A great place to study plus they are open on the weekends. There are lots of desks and even some study rooms.
The library is nice, but is too loud. Kids are playing and yelling at the top of their lungs. I came hear to study, and the noise is making it hard. Is the library not s quiet area anymore? The area for kids should be closed off so they re not disturbing others. I can t believe their parents are letting them run around and disturb others.
It has been a nightmare. Unattended special needs people making noises while other people such as myself are trying to do homework or take a test. It's annoying and if any of the other libraries were closer i would go to one of them. And finally the sign on the door says no food or drinks allowed yet every-time without fail there's someone eating or have a drink sitting at the computers.
Beautiful clean library. Customer service is excellent. A lot of activities for the little ones to enjoy. A designated area for teens as well as for adults. I just love this library.
Today was my second time going to visit this library. First time I had no problems getting a library card, front desk had two people who were very nice, and the information desk lady was very nice and helpful when I couldn't find a book (They don't use the dewey decimal system to organize their stacks so imo it can be hard to find what you're looking for)
Second visit, I asked the front desk if I could still check out books (New cards can only check out so much the first month). She was rude and short and started helping someone else through our conversation. Figuring I already knew what I wanted to check out I quickly went to the stacks with my baby in tow and went about looking for the next books I needed. They weren't where they were supposed to be and according to the computer they were available. Heading to the information desk I asked where they were. She pointed to the paperback section and went back to browsing the internet. ALL of the paperbacks in this library are separate and not organized in any way shape or form. You have to search through 200+ books and pray that you find what you're looking for because they won't help you. I found 1 book after 10 minutes of searching and gave up on the other 3 i was planning on checking out.
My advice is if you already have a library card put the books you want on hold and make them look for them. I'm going to read what I checked out then just drive to the library in Bedford. It's better organized and the people there are more polite.
Normally this library is pretty enjoyable. It's newly renovated and they offer some nice services. My only complaint is is that there's a room in the center of the library where kids are frequently playing video games. That's fine, but there's no ceiling on this room, and several times the kids in there have been quite loud. You would think a librarian would step in and ask them to quite down since, well, it's a library. I've yet to see this happen and it gets annoying pretty quickly to be in a loud library.
Quiet place to read and study. Dedicated kid's section with computers for them to play with.
Clean and we'll managed library every one that works there is very helpful and attentive of your needs.
Great library, lots of computers and staff is strict and some I try to avoid because they can be rude about things.
It's great, i really appreciate this place lol i wish i had money to give back to this library!
The librarian Ana is magnificent, she receives you with a magnificent attitude and she also knows how to guide you in various topics, excellent bibiolteca
Kid's section is clean and bright with an activity center and lots of space to play, a row of computers they can play on as well and plenty of seats for parents. Staff has always been helpful to me. Lots of activities for the family.
Wonderful environment, serene and peaceful setting. They also gave a beautiful area for children to learn and grow.
Avoid after school hours! This isn't a library anymore, seems more of a daycare/ after school program for toddlers & young teens who run from one end of the library to the other, SHOELESS... yell & laugh out loud- some using fowl language, eating disregarding signs stating NO FOOD ALLOWED, use rolling chairs not to just sit on but roll around with their "buddies", Computers are all taken by children playing games extending their times over & over making it impossible for a jobseeker or college student to do what they need. There is NO PEACE nor QUIET. Grown ups stare left to right wondering where these kids parents are!!! It's RIDICULOUS!!
I loved going here before because it was a place where u could sit and read peacefully, but after the remodeling finished all i saw were kids running around playing and their moms just sitting there. All in all it was like a daycare then to make things worse, the staff was rude when i asked a simple question about the book i was looking for.... I no longer want to come here...I will go to Betty Warmack instead.
The staff are very helpful. They also have a large variety of books. one negative is that they are strict but you have to expect that from a library. (didn't let me borrow stapler..)
Comfortable study area . My kids love the play section, the new set-up inspires kids to read more. So much fun!
Always have been treated kindly here! They have wonderful books, finally getting my husband to read too!
Now that they opened the librarie ... Internet is slow, it would disconnected by its self also.. It wasn't only happening to me! .. The staff is okay, the place is nice and a lot sitting
Good set up, they have desk to work and private rooms but very dirty. Tables are not cleaned and chairs not clean. People here do not know the meaning of a library, they let kids scream and talk loud. Even adults get on their phone and talk laud. Not to mention Internet is off and on, gets really annoying when trying to study. If I come, I come with books when Internet is down and hope to find a private room (it's rare, most of the time they are occupied unless you get here right when they open) only because of this I come and it's 2 min from my house other wise not good. Bring sanitizer and wipes if you want a clean area.
Huge and great selection of books they just renovated the place so it looks way cooler than it used to lots of computers for public use and everybody there is super nice. Definitely a place to go read if you're looking for a quiet spot.
I hate that I live in Grand Prairie and I m stuck with this library, they treat people like if they were making us a favor, after all we are paying for this service with our taxes. I ve used 4 different libraries from cities around Texas (plus the 3 libraries in the universities I ve attended and worked at) and Grand Prairie library is for far the worst and the only one in which I have a horrible experience each time I visit.
Except for one young lady who is very talkative and enthusiastic and the ILL loan coordinator who is very accommodating (they re the only reason I m giving 2 stars), all the other staff I ve encountered is incompetent and rude, specially another young woman and a Spanish-speaking lady, they re never willing to help and I d say they lack of costumer service experience.
Today I had it with this library. I m a high risk pregnant woman so I can t stand up for too long, I dropped by the library to pick up a movie I had on hold and put myself in line for a minute noticing no one was there (front desk was empty) so I thought ok, then I m going to the self check-out machine and tried to check out my movie but it gave an error message, the lady came out to the front desk so, while I was walking there to ask her for help, two individuals that were together and carrying more than 10 books each, arrived faster in front of me (I walk slow because of my special-needs condition) I was like oh, man! and asked the lady to help me out first, it would only take her a minute it was one single movie, she said she had to help them first, I was like I was actually in line before them but I went to the machines because no one was here , but she insisted they were there first. I think is a matter of logic and costumer service manners, she could just ask them is it ok with you if I help her first? She s pregnant , I m sure they would say yes. So I had to leave the movie there being unable to wait standing up for too long. I m so sad that I have to keep going to this library until they re-open the Betty Warmack one (which is the closest to my home but it s currently under remodelation). In general the GP library system is bad, since I was using the Betty Warmack library I noticed that:
1) The personnel wasn t as friendly as other libraries.
2) There s a bit of disorganization for example, no librarians in the front desk or nothing to mark where attendees should start the line (so people just piles up at the front desk and librarians ask who s next).
3) They lack of good materials like high culture books and art movies (I m not even talking about underground movies but regular Cannes or Sundance awarded movies).
4) They re very harsh on due dates and library fees, other libraries give a few grace period days after your materials are due but GP only gives you like one day.
I m not a user of the community programs so I can t talk from that point of view, the installations are nice but oh god, what terrible service!
Now that I have to make a long drive to get to the main library I m always in a hurry just to pick up my holds and not catch too much traffic so I would appreciate a little more of comprehension and better treatment. I m even thinking about just driving to the Irving Library and paying the annual fee, that was my library before and they have a great system, selection, an area to eat and staff always willing to help you out with a smile.
Internet is fast despite what Mr. Yang says. I get an average of 1-2 Mbps, I've topped out at 5. It really depends on how many people are using their network at the time.
I love this location! The atmosphere is calm, a modern layout ( most of the libraries I've visited are due for some sort of an upgrade), more study areas. The facility is also maintained well, and the staff are very friendly.
Great job Grand prairie!
Very helpful and sweet the young lady that help me with my copied. She is studying to become a Dotor . Very sweet soul and Beautiful
Nice modern facility, great kid's and teen areas, many places to hang out.
Very nice library and they're taking every precaution for safety.
Very friendly and helpful staff!!!! My baby started to cry and they were very patient about the whole situation.... I will ho back and continue to go to this library
Bad bad experience. Just read there and don't check out books, etc. because in case you lost a book, etc. you have to pay 5x its original price plus $5 processing fee. I couldn't even log on to my kids account, they blocked it for some reason, maybe so we couldn't monitor which books are due for return or so we won't be able to renew it online.
Great library! Lots of sitting areas, comfy chairs, good lighting.
This is my favorite place! I could spend a whole day and not know a minute went by!
The library is quite and the chairs are comfy and great lighting and there's a lot of different books
The library is very nice and modern however the book selection is horrible. Of all the cities I've lived this location has the least amount of adult fiction books.
ASIAN GIRL IS ALWAYS READY TO HELP ANYONE WHO NEEDS IT.... 5 STARS! SHE NEEDS A RAISE...SHES SO SWEET AND SHE IS ALWAYS SMILING EVEN THO SHE IS WEAERING A MASK! GOOD JOB!
Very much improved with recent additions to the main Library. On June 2, 2017, a great attendance for the Summer Reading Program. All parking spots were refilled, repeatedly during the two hours event.
A lovely place
Family friendly
Kids friendly
And a friendly staff really great people
Great place to get away and get lost in a movie book or a CD as well as a fast system
The facilities in this library such as the reading cubicles, seats, A/C and especially the internet connection is 5 star. The reading or seeing lights is rather dull, white light is better for reading compared to what they have now. Some of the people that use this lib needs a lesson in Library etiquette and this is where i find the staff slightly lacking in keeping order. It is so noisy! People converse on their phones loudly, parents do not reign-in their kids, they are left running, screaming, crying (not the kids fault though). The talking on the phone is the most unpleasant aspect of this place followed by people purposely leaving the bathroom untidy and the staff not stepping in to keep the library quiet a la phone people. They do have it really tidy though.
My 1st experience was the most best experience ever. ! THANKS FOR THE THE HELP MS LADY !
Just let from their Dino adoption with my nephews and they are very Covid cautious. Everyone was wearing masks and gloves, they were all so friendly and happy to see the kids.
Wonderful and perfect place ! All staff is friendly and respectful, they also have family activities most of the time. Keep up the good work guys
Very nice library. Great for studying. Clean, spacious, relatively private study areas. Nice children's section. Lots of different places to sit. If the wi-fi was faster and more reliable, I would have given this place 5 stars. You can barely get anything done with the wi-fi here - even when there aren't many people.
What a wonderful library. I will now list some of the book titles they stock. Architecture Now! A Is for Elizabeth (ebook) The Architecture of Sound: Designing Places of Assembly (Hardcover) Zaha Hadid (Paperback) The World Encyclopedia of Contemporary Theatre: Volume 5: Asia/Pacific (Kindle Edition) Wayshowing > Wayfinding: Basic & Interactive (Hardcover)
Beautiful library and so great for the kiddos! But to other parents ... control your chidren please it's still a library
received help in all areas needed.the staff always willing to help and maintaining social distancing and safety as much as possible.
Very nice upscale libray, a swarm of computers with wonderful customer service, thank you and will keep coming back.
A nice, calm library with extremely helpful staff and a beautiful layout.
They took our temperature walking in, everyone was very kind and welcoming. There were very few people there but everywhere had dividers and was very clean.
