Lovely scenery, entertainment was ok, but EVERYONE...
Lovely scenery, entertainment was ok, but EVERYONE, from conductor to each performer, expected a tip. I'd rather pay a bit more then have everyone's hand out.

Worth it. It has beautiful scenery on the way. The entertainment is fun for kids and adults. Provides old west flair to a Grand Canyon trip.
Great way to get to the Grand Canyon! Cameron was our guide both ways and he may be newer than others but is great about learning new things to make him a better guide.
This train ride was amazingly beautiful country. The train was traveling at a very so pace. Taking that in mind kids aren't recommended. The staff was wonderful and we laughed and joked the whole way. If u get the first class tickets seeing the train car that is 360 view of the forest.
I took my 2 year old for the train ride. We sat in coach and the seats were decently comfortable. We had a giant window to look out of but not all seats are placed directly in front of the window. The bathrooms were clean. They had guides explaining where to go when you were off the train. Animal education and guitar entertainers.
The food at the canyon was decent priced if you didn't go to the expensive restaurants.
Walking around the rim of the canyon had several spots to walk out and take pictures.
On the way back we sat in the observatory which was awesome! We were up high and could see all the Arizona mountains and animals. The host for our train was wonderful and had a great attitude. Towards the end of the trip they provided a champagne/sparkling cider toast.
Did not ride in the train but saw it and it was cool. Says grand canyon on it. Lots of passenger cars.
It's a good way to go to the Grand Canyon without driving, especially if you just want one day at the Canyon. Snacks were great, they had muffins for breakfast, and cheese and crackers for an afternoon snack. The comedic acts were lame. The "Robbery" at the end was their way for asking for tips and it wasn't very obvious. I would have given a dollar if I knew; thought it was another lame comedic act. The musicians were great though. The canyon facts and tips were informative. The comedy was just pretty awful; would have been a lot more fun if they had better comedians.
The stewardess were so fun with facts about the train and about the about the Grand Canyon. Raynee and Noel are excellent.
There is absolutely no comparison taking this trip when riding in the dome car. The scene starts off level and through giant ponderosa pines and eventually within a couple 100 yds of the rim. We had champagne live music one of my top 5 train trips in all of America. I would highly recommend. I also would recommend nowadays making your reservation ahead of time.
The ride was a little long, but pleasant nonetheless. We rode in one of the first class cars, which probably added to the experience. After a long, busy day at the grand canyon, it was nice to be able to hop on the train back to Williams and relax instead having to drive back to Williams.
This place is breathtaking, gorgeous views. We went during the week so there wasn't much of a crowd. A must see on anyone's bucket list.
Great trip i should booked the return trip for a day or two latter
what a nice trip. all the people were friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. would definitely recommend this great family trip.
The steaks and Kabobs were outstanding. Cook time was a little slow, but it had to be to develop those great flavors.
This was an awesome experience! The crew was great and humorous adding to our trip from Williams to the Grand Canyon Village and a very smooth train ride. We paid for first class, so we had complimentary snacks, sodas, and bar. They have a musician strolling through the cars both ways to & from Grand Canyon, and a Wild West show at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel before the early morning ride & after the later ride home. If you can do one of their packages that includes hotel accommodations before riding the next day I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! Conveniently located & no worries about your luggage transfers! (Big Tip - if you can, stay the night after coming back too! It makes it so much easier to transfer luggage from the train right into your reserved room! Think Disney's magical express, Grand Canyon version!) Also on the way home from GC, they do a cute cowboy train robbery right before you get back to town! Awesome time!
The Grand Canyon Railway offers a unique experience as you enjoy the great beauty of Arizona.
We took the Pullman car, with 3 kids 2, 7, and 12, the entertainment was nice but I suggest bringing something to entertain kids during down time. Also we turned one of the seats backwards to all face each other and had to interlock our knees. There was no ac but it never got to hot with the widows open. The musicians played songs for each of our kids and are very engaging. Our attendant Jenny was informative and friendly.
So we did the Grand view car ( with the dome) and the Pullman car ( non AC coach class) .we enjoyed the Pullman ride more than the dome
First of all, the staff on board the train were really great. Funny, knowledgeable, helpful. But the entertainment left a lot to be desired. Maybe okay for the kids. Our tickets included buffet breakfast and dinner. That food was horrible. Poorly cooked, very few choices, and mostly unavailable (kept runnning out). Hard to believe but the only dessert they had was soft ice cream. If you can't do dairy... they had hersheys syrup still in the squeeze bottle to give you a little more "variety".
Had a great time on the Train. We were in the observation car and the views were stellar. Even though we had an unexpected snow storm the train portion made up for the weather. April was our attendant and made the trip a joy. Coffee and pastry and fruit on the way. Sparkling wine and appetizers on the way home.
Nice way to travel to the grand canyon. Great entertainment. Could use a little longer time at the canyon.
We took the Polar Express and simply loved the experience. Chef Haven and Chef Rebecca were great and kept us entertained the whole way.
Great relaxing way to get to the Grand Canyon. Splurge for the dome car fir great views.
Grand Canyon was awesome. Took the Grand Canyon Railroad from Williams, Az. Be sure you take a sweater if you go in summer the train is freezing!
The family enjoyed the ride, the wildlife, the "train robbers", and the opportunity to tell jokes: especially the three year old. He thought he was a sensation!
Great experience enroute to another great experience. Beautiful scenery and great service.
A lot of fun and a nice way to get to the canyon and back
Very fun and scenic experience, kids and adults had a blast
Was loads of fun, think I had more fun than my kids.
We had a great adventure on the train our hostess was hilarious!
We went on the train ride and I don t think it would have been the same if we didn t have Cameron as our conductor he was awesome!!! He made the trip the best!!! Our kids had a blast because of him
Great & Grand fun. Easy enjoyable ride and entrance to the park.
What an amazing way to explore the Grand Canyon! You start in Williams and get to enjoy about a 2 hour and 15 minute train ride with some gorgeous views. You are then allotted about 4-5 hours on the South Rim to run around and explore before heading back. The prices aren't bad either, check their website for rates, routes, and booking info. Make some great memories!
Real easy way to get to Grand Canyon. The 'action' is very wooden, but pleases kids. We had Craig as PSA, and he was an excellent host in the Pullman carriage.
Great for kids very cool train ride experience.
Lots of fun, great information while on the train and fun entertainment!
An experience to remember! A wonderful family vacation. We loved the Railway Hotel and the train ride. Well worth the cost. We will certainly return
The train is impressive and historic at the same time.
I wish the train windows were cleaner. Otherwise enjoyed the service (PSA) and live entertainment, etc.
Had a Good time ...Me and my Wife....nice place too visit...
Ok if you can you should take this train. Only problem is that they only give you a couple of hours to see the canyon before you have to return. Otherwise it is an experience that is thouroghly enjoyable.
Awesome! Had the total package. Meals couldn't have been better. The hotel stay was great in Williams and at the Grand Canyon. The bus tour once we arrived at the canyon was excellent. The train ride was the BEST! Service and entertainment were top notch!
So much fun! The grand canyon was amazing. I would recommend the package: hotel, meals, and train ride to the Canyan.
I love it it was THE BEST EXPERIENCE I've had at the Grand Canyon
Amber Rose was my rail car representative. She taught us a lot. Super nice!!! Highly recommend.
We (22 family members) rode your train from Williams, AZ to the Grand Canyon on Oct. 22, 2016. This was my 6th time. As always it was a lot of fun. However, on this trip Nick was one of our entertainers, he was fantastic, entertaining all ages with style, humor, and lots of fun. When we do this again, we plan to make the trip when Nick will be on the train and we will request his car. Thank you Nick for a fabulous superlative trip with lots of laughter and lots of memories.
My son loved riding the train to the grand canyon and the entertainment during the ride was good. Snacks in first class and above were of good quality and quantity
We paid for Dome Class and were highly entertained for the 2 hours each way and the food and drink was decent with pastries for the morning part and crackers and cheese and fruit for the return
Amazing train trip. Highly recommend. Great way to celebrate our anniversary. Thanks for the fun.
This was the best trip ever, made even more memorable by the whole train experience. Mimi, our car attendant was awesome, knowledgeable, happy, high energy (running up and down the car with lightning speed) and an excellent bartender.
We met the head of the PR department, who told us the origin of the rail line and Fred Harvey (who was from the UK and developed the original Harvey girls. See I remembered!! ) He was super too with all the information he had about the area, train and personnel.
I am extremely impressed with the process, hotel, rail line and most of all the customer service from everyone. I didn't see one who wasn't smiling and that included all the passengers.
I highly recommend this experience for any age person. Thank You !!
Corny but fun, and a relaxed way to get back and forth to/from the Canyon.
Great train ride! If you go be sure to ride up top! Check out these pictures.
The best train ride I ever had I had so much fun I wantage another ride says it all
We had an entertaining host for the ride up and back that kept everyone on our car laughing. We enjoyed the music a lot and couldn't believe everyone ended up singing, it was very refreshing!
Should have an earlier booking to get a lodge the stay. The scene was breathtaking. Love the Grand Canyon view from here.
Fun, great scenery, excellent breakfast buffet before train ride.
Outstanding way to get to the Grand Canyon. Beautiful scenery and first class sevice. You even experience a train robbery. The Hotel in Williams Arizona next to the train depot makes the trip easy.
This train ride was excellent. Been on quite a few trains before but this was the best. The staff was awesome, very friendly and great information. The scenery was beautiful. This is a must do if in the area.
What a great ride. My first time ever and I would do it again.i loved it.
Great tour, excellent driver -- the buffet stop for lunch was one of the worst meals I've ever had. Luckily, there were other stops on the trip that allowed time to grab a quick bite to go.
Great ride and the service and information was great
You can drive in 2.5 hours what GCR charges $200 per person to do in 7 (Williams to Bright Angel Trail head & back). If you want quiet & cost effective, this is not your ride. I thought I was paying for a peaceful, scenic classy ride to & from the canyon. Avoid the hassle of traffic. Seemed pricey, but it was the honey moon so what the hell. All the folks @ GCR try VERY hard to make it entertaining, and that is what ruined it for my wife & I. We don't need a brassy tour guide blaring over the PA. We're not interested in the folksy musical styling of a dude wielding a harmonica, guitar & tambourine, and we don't care if the mountain range looks like a celebrity profile. After eating the poor fare at El Tovar and walking around the rim for 3 hours we sure as hell do not want it all over again on the way back (with a PAINFULLY cheese "Hollywood train robbery" thrown in). "Uh oh, these two dudes on horses shot out our train wheels so we have to stop the train and let these jack-wads on so they can try for tips". They actually said the train wheels got shot out. Maybe I am just a jaded generation Xer with a bad attitude. Mid-west retirees will probably dig this molasses slow overpriced ride.
Awesome experience. Great staff and accommodations. Recommend to anyone!
This was so much fun! And we left our car in Williams (no fussing with finding a parking spot in a very busy Grand Canyon Village). Everyone should go this way!!
Awesome buffet restaurant. Cool train rides to the Grand Canyon.
Sit back and relax, this is a great way to get to the Grand Canyon and leaves 3 hours to catch a local free bus, do the rim walk and grab some food. The team on the train do a great job to keep you entertained for the 2 hour journey each way. And Williams has plenty of good places to sleep eat and visit if you want a stop over before or after the train journey. Two tips, pick your train tickets up the night before if possible, the office is open to 7:30pm... saves the queues in the morning. Check the weather forecast, it is colder in the Grand Canyon than Williams !
Fabulous! Grand Canyon RR Company does things right. Staff was exceptional, facilities were all clean and well taken care of. We took the Grand Tour once at the Canyon. Lunch was cafeteria style with lots of options. Toured in ADA bus. View points very accessible. Tour guides very knowledgable and helpful.
An easy fun way to get to the Grand Canyon without driving. They make an entire show of the trip with stage coach show and entertainers who play music on the way up. It was nice relaxing in coach and being able to enjoy to views on the way up. You have plenty of time to walk the south rim once you're up there.
We rode first class to the canyon and coach on the way back. My son (8, almost 9) absolutely enjoyed the coach trip. Extremely entertaining with great staff, Tessa, for the kids! Made the trip back go by in no time at all! First class was great, but far more quiet and less entertaining for children.
It was great. Train ride is lots of fun. Scenery is great.
