I DROPPED IN--IN A HURRY TO FIND SOME BREAD. GOT THEIR LAST BAGUETTE (AS AN ASIDE, I ATE SOME WHEN I GOT HOME AND IT'S VERY GOOD BREAD--I'LL GET SOME AGAIN)--BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, I UNKNOWINGLY LEFT MY WALLET THERE---CALLED AFTER I DISCOVERED IT MISSING WHEN I UNPACKED MY PURCHASES AT HOME---THEY WAITED FOR ME AFTER CLOSING TIME, UNLOCKED THE DOOR AND HANDED ME MY UNTOUCHED WALLET. GOOD PEOPLE, WORTHY OF YOUR BUSINESS.

This cute bakery is hidden in a strip mall, but don't let that keep you away from it. The inside decor is welcoming, and the sandwiches and breads they have are delicious. I've been twice already, and I definitely plan on going back.

Grain D'Or has wonderful breads and their sandwiches are delicious (love the turkey mozzarella sandwich). Their chocolate eclairs are scrumptious and very reasonably priced. They also offer special order sheet cakes with fresh strawberries and other fillings, we have used them for a family party, the cake was a big hit!

This place is simply amazing! I ordered the Farmer's Chicken Salad sandwich and the Clam Chowder, which cost less than $10 total. While I would have preferred for the chowder to be a little thicker, the sandwich was perfect. I'll definitely be making this place one of my regular lunch spots.

V. tasty and fresh dishes. Though a bit on an expensive side but nevertheless totally worth the money for the quality. V. Nice, quite, clean ambiance. Polite and friendly staff. Sufficient parking.

Fresh ingredients, bread from Andersen Bakery, there isn't anything to criticize except the lack of novelty. Don't get me wrong, the sandwiches here are solid, but I would love to see some specials specific to Grain D'or that would lure me back instead of offering sandwiches that I can get elsewhere for cheaper.

The sandwiches here are a tad expensive for the size although I was quite satisfied when I finished. I ordered the avocado and chicken sandwich with baguette. It tasted good, but was pretty plain.

This place had quite a few people reading books and doing work on their laptops although when I inquired about the FREE wifi, they said it wasn't being offered.

Their regular white bread is very, very similar to Japanese white bread ie shokupan style. Stretchy instead of American style spongy. I also love their paine de campagne for making superb sandwiches or open faced creations. For smaller purchases, they will cut the bread in half for you instead of taking the whole bread which is very convenient.

I searched for a cake to buy around the place I live and I was incredibly glad to find Grain d'Or: it is a branch from a European-style Japanese bakery that you can also find in various places in Japan. The cake was awesome -- very unlike the cakes I find in the US which I tend not to like -- it was much closer to what you'd get in a very good bakery in France or Germany. Of course I went back later and tried various types of bread and other sweets and they were great. If you live in the area, stop by Grain D'Or to check it and if you go there, also try Nijiya market, which is in the same area.

Cute bakery with tasty sandwiches. A great selection of breads, pastries, and cakes. The coffee is good and the staff is friendly. I like that they have more than one veggie sandwich option. My favorite is the roasted tomato capres.

Apparently this outpost of Andersen Bakery opened here in early 2008, but I only discovered it a few weeks ago. It's in a really run-down strip mall. The strip mall is unfriendly and uninviting with no people walking around, but going into Grain D'Or is like going to another world. It's warm, cozy, and spacious, with relaxing music and a good color palette -- in other words it's a great place to hang out. There are plenty of staff, and they're very friendly and helpful. The smells are of baking breads and brewing coffee, and it feels like it was lit by an experienced lighting designer, not a summer intern.

The breads and pastries are great: flaky croissants, moist rolls, awesome sandwiches. The an pan is the best I've had in Northern California: a slight crispiness on the surface, which leads to soft bread and a tasty red bean filling. Everything is very clean and beautifully presented.

It's easy to get here from 85 or 237, there's the fabulous Chaat Paradise, a Nijiya market, and a 24-hour Walgreens in the same strip mall, and there's an In-and-Out Burger a block away.

Also, the Stevens Creek Trail was recently extended to El Camino Real, and Grain d'Or is only a 5 minute walk north on El Camino from that trail entrance. If you're biking to downtown Mountain View and want a change of pace, take a relaxing ride a bit farther along the trail and try this out.

Good bakery that is part of Andersen's now so even more options for food. Specially love their pastries including the strawberry shortcake and scones. The bread options are great too. Service is reasonably ok and there is enough parking around.

This is worth standing in line for, best bakery here in SF and worth every calorie. The croissants just melt in your mouth. We are very lucky here in CA. Thank you for the sweet and buttery greatness. :)
