Five Institutions, One Group

The World Bank Group consists of five organizations:

The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development
The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) lends to governments of middle-income and creditworthy low-income countries.
The International Development Association
The International Development Association (IDA) provides interest-free loans called credits and grants to governments of the poorest countries.
Together, IBRD and IDA make up the World Bank.
The International Finance Corporation
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is the largest global development institution focused exclusively on the private sector. We help developing countries achieve sustainable growth by financing investment, mobilizing capital in international financial markets, and providing advisory services to businesses and governments.
The Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency
The Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) was created in 1988 to promote foreign direct investment into developing countries to support economic growth, reduce poverty, and improve people s lives. MIGA fulfills this mandate by offering political risk insurance (guarantees) to investors and lenders.
The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes
The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) provides international facilities for conciliation and arbitration of investment disputes.

Environment of its is like foreign country. Basically they work with government and NGOs to finance projects and social sectors development. country director is selected from HQ. Nice Place.

In July 1944, United Nations Monetary and Finance Conference was held at Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, USA. It was decided to create two organizations at the conference: International Bank or World Bank for IMF & Reconstruction and Development Although there are many other countries represented in this conference, the United Kingdom and the United States have a clear prevalence of bargaining.

Traditionally, IMF chief was elected from the European countries and was elected chief of the World Bank from the United States.

The World Bank Group has set two goals for the world to achieve by 2030:

End extreme poverty by decreasing the percentage of people living on less than $1.90 a day to no more than 3%
Promote shared prosperity by fostering the income growth of the bottom 40% for every country
The World Bank is a vital source of financial and technical assistance to developing countries around the world. We are not a bank in the ordinary sense but a unique partnership to reduce poverty and support development. The World Bank Group comprises five institutions managed by their member countries.

Financial Products and Services
We provide low-interest loans, zero to low-interest credits, and grants to developing countries. Some of our projects are cofinanced with governments, other multilateral institutions, commercial banks, export credit agencies, and private sector investors.

Innovative Knowledge Sharing
We offer support to developing countries through policy advice, research and analysis, and technical assistance.
