Excellent score, excellent performers, excellent facility, just everything pure professional.
Awesome location... little tight when it comes to seating arrangements and porch space though. Wish you were able to bring a drink into seats without purchasing a 2$ souvenir cup.
Just saw "Rags". Great show and cast. We really enjoy the authentic feel of the Goodspeed.
Parents took us here for my birthday and we loved it.
Billy Eliot is a great experience, cast is stellar, excellent production and a perfect venue.
Great shows, beautiful location on the river, and intimate theater. It's hard to pick a bad seat!
Great place, great show take your family cant wait til the next one.
Goodspeed Opera House is a fabulous opportunity to experience theater in an intimate setting. The audience's proximity to the stage fosters the feeling of involvement and connection. It is an absolute treat to attend performances there
Wonderful old building where three older musicals are very professionally produced each summer.
I don't have enough superlative words to describe tonight's performance of Drowsy Chaperone! Outstanding from beginning to end. And the costuming was dazzling! Well done, as usual, Goodspeed!
Amazing shows on an amazingly small stage with even smaller wings on both sides brings out the magic of watching a Goodspeed production. Always a treat to go there!
Take the behind the scenes tour. It's really interesting and you get to see the dressing rooms. It's also a great place to relax for lunch at the picnic tables by the water.
Lovely, historic building. Intimate theater. Excellent productions.
Staff was amazing. Not a bad seat in the house. Great old theater.
If you have not seen The Will Roger's Follies, you better go now before it is over. This is right at the top of the shows I have seen there. In fact it was the top show! The cast was phenomenal! David M. Lutken played the part of Will Roger's. He was absolutely perfect!! I highly recommend this show. I thoroughly enjoy going to the Goodspeed. If you have never been here, now is the perfect time.
Ausome place to see a show. Tall people may have issue with theater seats. A little cramped.
Fantastic performance of Music Man. Clean and well maintained theatre. Orchestra seating is pretty cramped but that's typical of older theatres.
Great as always. Great show, great atmosphere, cute little village feel. Great restaurant next door.
The Goodspeed Opera House is beautiful theater to see any show. Outside the building, the grounds are elegant and serene. I love going there in any season.
GOODSPEED OPERA HOUSE: MUSIC MAN is a beloved show.Production had wonderful and well deserved reviews. We booked the Wed.pm show with dinner deal at Rustica. We had seats in row E on the side.My friend could not see during the first act because the person in front kept moving their head from side to side constantly! Fortunately during intermission she was able to switch to a better seat.Thank you, kind stranger!I would definately recommend the Gelston House over Rustica. Not only is it right next door,it was a better choice.Still love this theater, but if there is someone big or fidgety in front of you, chances are your view will be blocked. As a vintage theater, seating is not auditorium style, there is a small section on a tier in back, and balcony seating.Thankfully, there is an elevator, since the theater is on the second floor.Locale is beautiful, and since I live in Florida now, glad I got a chance to see this show on my recent visit.Keep on bringing the great shows Goodspeed! I do recommend the dinner& show combo! Book early!!
This place has legitimate productions with great talent and technical skills. I have been to 5 shows and thought them all excellent.
The cast was fantastic, the costumes superb, and The Drowsy Chaperone should be on everyone's "must see" list! Fun, funny, and campy with a wonderfully talented cast, this show within a show is a delight!
Excellent production of Oklahoma. Only negative was that our balcony seats were hard to get to and didn't have a great view.
Very cool to see. Visit once atleast just for the experience.
A theater not to be missed. The production we saw, The Music Man, was perfect for the space. Sight from the balcony has its challenges, but overall we enjoyed our visit.
The setting was beautiful. It sits right on the banks if the Connecticut River. . The Opera House was lovely, you felt as if when walking through the doors you were passing through time The play was NYC quality. We saw the musical Rags. The voices, scenery and costumes were all above what was expected.
We saw the Will Roger's Follies. This was the second show we have seen there. It was stupendous. This establishment brings you back in time. If you like theater and history, The Goodspeed Opera House is a must. I strongly suggest becoming a member.
This is a wonderful playhouse. I have never seen a bad play here. The quality is consistent and the venue is great. I saw the Will Rogers Follies here a few months ago and it was a FANTASTIC show. We saw "The Drowsy Chaperone" here this weekend and the cast / set and show were all wonderful. I think this playhouse is known for attracting higher quality producations and would highly recommend that you see a show here!
Excellent!! A Nat King Cole Christmas was Excellent!!!!
Saw Billy Elliot and I was amazed by how much content this musical had. Comedy, music, and dance were great.
First time here and will definitely be back for another play! Great atmosphere and the employees are very friendly.
Quality productions, but short uncomfortable seats and I am short!
Amazing service! It was quick getting in and quick getting out and the play was awesome.
Romance and fancy people. Goodspeed opera house should definitely be on your must-visit list in Connecticut. It's built right on the river, you have a beautiful view of the bridge , sailing boats, and beautiful people - dressed up to see the play. The tickets are $50 and up for 2.5 hours play. Worth visiting, we love it!
A true gem of a theater that presents three musical productions from April through October. All shows are professionally done and never disappoint. Beautiful building situated on the Connecticut river. Free parking and very good dining options nearby.
It's always a pleasure to see a show here. The scenery and location are one in a million! It's such a quaint and historic place, the ambience enhances the experience. I have seen numerous shows here and am never disappointed. Looking forward to my next trip there.
The cat's pyjamas! Always a good time, but this was by far a favorite show. I couldn't stop laughing and I wish I'd be able to see it again.
Rags was thoroughly entertaining and moving. The Godspeed will take you back to a simpler time and is just as enjoyable as Broadway
One of the finest play house in America. Intimate, historical and beautiful. Right on the Connecticut
River, the Stately Opera House takes you back to another era.
Subscribe now and often!
Fantastic shows, have been a season ticket holder for several years and it is absolutely worth the money.
Broadway level acting, orchestra and theater. Fabulous history.
Today was the second time we have seen a show at Goodspeed. We have been very pleased with the quality of both shows. Everything from the acting and music to the costumes, sound and lightning were great. And with the beautiful weather, we brought a picnic which we ate on the tables they have set by the river. It all made for a very enjoyable day.
Music Man was great! Refreshments were good. Good time and seating was a little tight but not a problem.
Uneven shows. Some are amazing...some should end at intermission.
We have season tickets and we enjoy the shows. We love the atmosphere and the quality performances.
I've been a member for several years nothing but quality even with changes to the managerial structure, the Goodspeed continues to deliver season after season.
An amazing theater experience in the middle of Eastern Connecticut
The quaint closeness of this historic theater enhances the performances. Must be experienced to properly appreciate the fine acting and ambiance.
Gorgeous building & property. Talented cast. SO UNCOMFORTABLE. Can't be up to current safety codes-rail on balcony reached my knee. No walkway to reach seats-must go over or under balcony support rods. Hallways & stairwells narrow. People's shoulders & legs touching on seats. Should be turned into museum.
What a wonderful place, I would definitely recommend watching a show here! It s an intimate theater with relatively comfortable chairs and they play phenomenal shows.
Excellent play, but visibility in orchestra not good
Thoroughly enjoyed my first time at this venue! It's a small, but lovely theater.
I was in Connecticut visiting my parents and they took me to the Goodspeed Opera to see Oliver! What a treat! The acoustics are incredible and the talented cast was outstanding. The surrounding area is beautiful. All and all an incredible experience.
My daughter does the scenic painting for the shows I have to love
Great place but as a venue that draws an older crowd they need to work on accessable parking. Valet perhaps?
We saw one show during the 13th annual Musical Theater Festival. The theater itself is gorgeous and historical and sits right on the river, giving a quaint setting for it all. The interior of the theater is a little cramped, but nothing that wasn t manageable. All seating is upstairs and there is an elevator for those who can t make it up the stairwell.
This is gem of a theater right here in Connecticut, saw winn Dixie , amazing cast, lighting and music put together perfect thank you
What a lovely experience. The staff is delightful and the play was epic. We had a wonderful visit and will be back soon.
Great, the show was a the best in November, a great year for Goodspeed.
Lovely little theater. Everyone is very friendly. Production of The Music Man was almost Broadway caliber.
