We are season ticket holders. The shows here are great and we enjoy the variety of each. The theater is very quaint and we enjoy looking around or sitting on the outer balcony during intermission. If you haven't been it's a great spot to relax and take in a show.

Really awesome theater...never a bad seat. Have never seen a bad show there. Staff r very friendly except bartenders tend to be very busy and grumpy. I often wonder how they pass fire codes cuz it would be a horror show If there was a fire...not enough exits.

Built in 1877, this beautiful, well maintained theatre sits on the CT River. I saw, The Music Man, which was an incredible production by this theatre company. Not one for musicals, I was captivated by this engaging, flawless performance that I felt like I was watching it on Broadway! I highly recommend to any type of theatre goer no matter your preference for stage performances.

The productions there are great, but the facility itself shows its age (lots of steep stairs, ancient elevators, narrow walkways, and a general feel that the building might fall apart at any minute). Small stage, micro concessions, parking is a nightmare.
The Goodspeed has tons of "character" if that's what you're looking for. If you want a comfortable, upscale venue, this isn't it.

Saw Oliver for opening night - Show was great. Actors were awesome! so much fun with my mother and sister for a night out. Call out to Fagan and the Artful Dodger as well as Nancy and, of course, Oliver! But all the actors were great. So, why not 5 stars...nothing to do with the play. Bought the dinner/Theater combo and the Gelston House was AWFUL! First, they changed the menu with no warning so, if you bought the same combo, do not bother with the online menu. They made us feel like 2nd class citizens because of the way the menu was presented. And it just went downhill from there - my mothers fish was full of bones (not kidding, large shards) had to send it back, was supposed to come with mashed potatoes but came with risotto and overcooked spinach. The presentation was awful. They clearly just count on being convenient for theater goers and have lost their desire to serve good food. anyway, buyer beware - do NOT buy the dinner/theater combo. Buy the tickets and bring a picnic or eat elsewhere.

This place is incredibly fancy and to be honest you certainly are paying for it in the tickets of whatever show you go to see. It was fun to go there on an open house and learn about the history of the good speed but, I would never go there because of how extraordinary high priced they are.

Didn't actually go to the opera house, though I think I might like to sometime. We attended Music on the River put on by Parks and Recreation on the lawn of the Goodspeed. It was a fabulous evening in the shadow of a historic building.

I love the Goodspeed Opera House; however, the seats need to be renovated. They are not on a gradual slope - the seats are flat. If someone tall sits in front of you (and even worse, utilizes a seat pillow) it is very difficult to see the stage.

Loved the show Oliver. Cast, costumes, sets, singing and dancing were all beyond my expectations. Rows n-q have best seats in the House. Beware of the balcony. LOTS of narrow stairs, only one small elevator; fire would be a real disaster. Spectacular setting on the CT River adjacent to the swing bridge. Nice bar with outdoor seating and great views.

The Opera House is very easy to drive to from any direction. E. Haddam is a lovely Town. Parking is next door and you have to walk a bit from the parking lot to the building. Go at least 1 hour early to enjoy the scenery. Nice restaurant next door with huge deck outdoor seating. The Opra house is tiny. Has a cute gift shop and nice refreshments in the back with a nice back porch to sit & watch the river & swing bridge before the play. Have your drink, sit relax then be seated for the play. Winn Dixie was SOOOOO sweet! All of the cast members were fantastic. The set was beautiful. The best part of course was the DOG
