My father recently passed away, my dad had arranged his funeral with Golden charter, This was my first funeral that I have had to arrange, basically what could have been a difficult job was made rather easy. Because of this I too have decided to use Golden Charter for my own funeral. I spoke with Andrew Best who was very helpful in deciding what the best policy would be, Andrew explained everything really well, In fact he was so good I have paid in full. I now do not have to worry about paying for my Funeral all sorted. Thanks Andrew and Golden Charter.
Having spoken with Paul Cleghorn today 3/10/18 about my funeral arrangements, I have to say that he dealt with my inquiry very professionally and went through everything in great detail. I understood everything and nothing was too much trouble for him. Peace of mind is what we all want and knowing that my daughters will have had everything taken care of gives me this.
I contacted this company yesterday and I couldn't have spoken to a nicer person His name was Darren Rodger and he was extremely helpful and went though my funeral plan with me. He put me completely at ease and made me feel very comfortable. Thanks so much for all your help.
terrible crooks in suits.They take your cash of penisioners and never compeat the job and you have no hope of ever getting your money back from them.all you ever get is pamled of with excuses on the phone.stay well away from if you want peace of mind.
I am a plan holder . They rang to make a will appointment.10th August 16 and never kept that appointment. I have just rang to 're schedule..deduce from this what you will ..excuse the pun
Very easy to organise, excellent help with funeral director I had gone with. Very good form to complete and was very happy with my future plans and support.
Do not touch this company. Three times they did my plan incorrectly, they were argumentative when I told them I wanted to be buried not cremated, they insisted I asked for cremation. I actually felt because I was English I was treated differently. I might be wrong but they never have liked us. The left hand doesn t know what the right is doing. Keep away from them. I have never written a bad review about a company before but they are bad.
My dad and stepmother took out a plan each with Golden Charter. The woman who first visited them filled out the questionnaire incorrectly and they had to ring the company several times to correct things. They did their will three times; first one was apparently a 'draft', though this wasn't made clear, second one was sent back to GC and they lost it, the third one they kept hold of. My stepmother recently died and I rang on my dad's behalf to make the last payment to Golden Charter so that the funeral arrangements could go ahead. The man who answered the phone was brusque (do they not receive training to deal with bereaved people?). He wanted to speak to my dad as it was his credit card, and when he did my dad got very upset, it wasn't made clear to him that it was only the direct debit that had been cancelled, not the whole policy ("So I've wasted all that money for nothing?"): and why is the direct debit immediately cancelled when somebody dies? This is not what recently bereaved people need! Other companies I've dealt with have been very considerate, given commiserations and dealt with the situation courteously, professionally, and with human kindness, but I haven't found this to be so with Golden Charter. Not impressed with them at all.
My mother recently passed and i had no idea she had taken out a plan. They looked after everything, the only thing i had to do was turn up to the funeral. Brilliant company and saved me an awful lot of stress.
I was very satisfied with Amanda who helped me get the right plan at the right price It was nice to talk to such a pleasant person and did not feel as if I was being pushed to get the most expensive plan I was given all my options and I was able to get a plan that was not only at a reasonable price but covered what I required It is nice to know that what ever happens my funeral will be paid for Thank you Amanda for making what could be a solemn proccess something that was pleasant I would reconsider Golden Charter to everyone Once again Thank You

I would recommend people to consider very carefully before signing up for any of Golden Charter's plans. The documentation is very misleading, and in my own personal experience my mother's recent funeral left us with a huge bill, for items which Golden Charter's sales 'pitch' at the time would have many thinking that the costs were covered for fundamental items such as cremation. On top of that, I experienced very little in support after putting my concerns to Golden Charter - they seem to take the money but then don't want to know afterwards. Please be very very careful with this organisation - the problems that they caused certainly soured my mothers funeral and my counter-claims are still ongoing.
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE IS MY ADVICE. THE SALES LINE ALWAYS PICK UP THE PHONE. HOWEVER AFTER SALES SEEMS TO STRUGGLE. UNFORTUNATELY I CANT LEAVE 0 STARS.
I purchased my plan in September 2017 and found it very easy to do ,all options where gone over with me to help me choose the right one. Billy Stott at John McLellans in Fort William was pleasant and helpful the room was relaxing the whole appointment was dare I say enjoyable I thought I would find it all very upsetting but it's was much better than I anticipated . I would defiantly recommend the pre paid option for your funeral to know everything is in order and that you are sparing your loved ones more distress at an already emotional time it's a great peace of mind . A really good way to go and I thought it was very good value for money
I had a brain operation two years ago and was bombarded by this company asking me to plan my funeral. I lodged a complaint with them and they stopped sending the paperwork through after a couple of months. They are now outsourcing to India and I have just received a call from "Peter" of golden charter to ask me to plan my funeral. After pointing out that my number was a TPS number he hung up. NO apology, just a rude and thoughtless attitude which just about goes to show the thoughtfulness this company will have when you deal with them, all smiles on the outside but a cash conniving company inside. Steer well away from them.
