Gold's Gym Westmount Review

This gym keeps going downhill. Machines are broken, TVs on machines don't work or the headphone jack doesn't work, the cloths to "sanitize" equipment after use smells just rotten most days.

Rock wall is a cool feature and I liked the tanning bed... other than that, probably the most unorganized and cluttered gym I've ever seen... they have virtually no weights or squat racks yet they have probably 30 treadmills... if you go to the gym to use a treadmill, climb a small very simple rock wall, and tan but literally nothing else... this is the place for you...

Worst gym I have even encountered in my life . Contracts are absolutely horrible , they take more money out , I owe them money apparently and they didn't even inform me . They're so unhelpful . Please don't ever go to this gym .

Gym at Westmount has gone downhill drastically. Bearings are coming apart on tons of equipment. Set screws are loose, ropes and handles are frayed and broken. No maintenance is being done. Some machines getting to the point of being dangerous. Unless something changes I am cancelling membership. Too bad I enjoyed when equipment was in good shape.

Don't sign a contract. If your contract expires, and you live a very busy lifestyle like me, and don't have time to sit down with someone to cancel a contract. Unless you want to once your contract is 'over', And want to pay for that contract for another 3 months after that, until they recieeve your cancelation email. Even though ... you didn't have to send a flippin note in the mail to start to damn thing in the first place. YEAH BE MY GUEST.

Good gym. Friendly staff. Nice environment. Hope this gym doesn't get shut down too. lol

Worse gym in the city, most machines are broken, owner doesn't really care. He thinks all you have to do is open the door and everything will be fine. Customer service sucks. The place is run worst than a gym in a 3rd world country. Owner is a total dick no wonder it looks like a dump in there

Staff is unhelpful, and the owner clearly doesn't care any more.

The location by my house, which was the reason I signed up: closed by eviction without notice to the customers and the next closest gym is only open until 11pm..

I signed up to a close, 24h gym and now I have neither of those things. I'm not looking forward to the horrible task of trying to cancel my membership.

WESTMOUNT GOLDS GYM CLOSES....but wait, first they charge us all the "Enhancement Fee". What exactly was that enhancement for? I was under the impression it was for Gym maintenance and care....
Gold's should have know before the start of the month that they are going to close. They should have never taken that "Enhancement Fee" out of our accounts.

Cancellation process is tough and difficult even if you are just trying to stop them from auto renewing your contract.

DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT- Can you say "Crooks"? They only accept written cancellations mailed out to their office, ( right there it shows you how behind this company is) and make sure it's a registered letter, because they play stupid. My daughter mailed the letter last year, 4 months later, goes to see them, asks for the total amount owed, pays it in full, asks the teller, that's all I owe right? Then I'm done? The teller says: Yes. She just received a letter from a collection agency saying she owes over $600!!!!!!!!!!! A bunch of scammers! Now you understand why there's always just a hand full of people there but they are still in business.

BAD BAD BAD... ok so i agree with the other comments here but I have something else to share I purchased a Groupon for this gym 6 months flat rate... not strings right... Wrong I went to sign in like I have been for the past 2 months and the man at the desk told me I was not able to us my pass anymore and I had to either purchase a membership with them or buy a new swipe pass... none of which was request earlier when I activated my pass or written out on the group on details. They are charging more for something that has already been paid and activated. Tey are cheats and lairs and I am very disappointed in the business ethics. Currently going to go to Groupon and see if they can fix or refund this mess. Very Very Disappointed with "GOLDs"... they don't even deserve a Bronze for this Crap.

Decent gym and more than fair prices and I've been to world health, ymca , old club fit and snap fittness. Needs to fix pool in west ed location

Great gym it's never packed like some of the other gyms around you can actually workout without getting in anyone's way, lots of equipment and diversity, the saunas are nice too. Good staff as well

Golds / Icon gym just closes out of the blue for not paying their rent, and yet they still try and take monthly fees from people? Are you kidding me? Everyone who had a membership here, please goto your bank and put a stop payment before they scam another month out of people while being completely closed and shut down.

I was just there to cancel my one year membership and i was told that i had to mail an application to us and by xpress post which cost me $27. This is ridiculous as i signed up at the location and paying them while i had to spend $27 to cancel just the membership and no body told me about this cancellation policy. Plus the two girls this morning at the reception were rude in explaining cancellation thing. It was a bitter taste at the end of day.

Garbage. Owner is a broke piece of trash. Pulled up to North town gym this morning to find golds has been evicted. Guess that explains the equipment slowly disappearing and not maintenance being done. Now I get the pleasure if trying to cancel my membership with this scabby company.

Came at 750am website said opens at 6am was closed a huge line of people waiting to exercise. Someone came opened up at 814 am. Sad that golds gym has such a bad rep in edmonton and this apparently isnt the first time this happens, over hearing regulars.

Nothing wrong with this gym idk why there's so many complainers about how you have you to take weights off the equipment..who cares just means you lift more haha
