Get there early outside the black wrought iron gat...

Get there early outside the black wrought iron gates along Hay Street (Google Maps show pedestrian access incorrectly along the side street), otherwise you may miss out on the 9.30am tour and then have to wait another hour. Proceed up the stairs or ramp to the 2 large green and gold trim doors. The admissions desk is on the right hand side after entering the building through the glass automatic doors. We used an Entertainment Guide voucher (2 for 1) which allows you more money to buy a souvenir. After meeting in the lobby, the tour proceeds to the main front gardens. The next part of the one tonne 9999 gold coin, great showcase of gold nuggets, interactive displays, customised coin printing and gold pour. The tour area is relatively small/compact with wheelchair accessibility. Weigh yourself to see how you are worth in gold, and pick up on gold bar in a secure chamber. The tour guide was well versed with fun facts and details about the Royal (Perth Mint). I particularly like the story about the amount of gold that was extracted from the old finances during renovations. There are gold bullion, gems room, numismatic collectables, jewellery, souvenirs and a cafe & courtyard to explore prior to and after the tour. Gold prices varies depending on the spot value. A one gram bullion bar costs $71 (plus a credit card surcharge). Ideally, you will spend about 2 hours exploring.

Nice, active and informative guided tour friendly...

Nice, active and informative guided tour friendly staff and wide variety of activities are included in the tour : viewing the 1 tonne golden coin that worth around 60 million dollars, finding out how much your weight costs in Golden prices (my body worth, at that day prices, around $4.86 million), watching panoramic historical show about gold and mining, whatcing an entertaining and interesting live gold pouring process to get the standard golden alley, and an opportunity to get your ad hoc coin (gold or silver based molded) with the shape and name you choose and viewing the tools was using in the past for gold mining in Western Australia .
The fees of the guided tour is AUD 19 for adults, 17 for students, and 8 for kids and the family package is $48.
However , the jewelry shop close to the entrance is free (no tickets applied)
A nice caffee is there and other facilities
On the entrance you will see a statu for the first two persons who found row gold nuggets in western Australia and a replica to the big gold nuggets found 130 years ago

A must-see for all Perth visitors. I was pleasantly surprised by how interesting it was and the enthusiasm and knowledge the tour guides had. On the tour you ll learn about the history of the Mint, see a gold bar being smelted in front of your eyes, and even be able to pick one up yourself (it s extremely heavy). All in all well worth the trip!

There are walk-throughs organised on a regular basis every day and it's worthwhile to tag along and listen to the experienced guide who speaks of the place's history, the largest gold ever mined etc. There's also a live gold bar making demonstration which is a highlight. Various forms of souvenir are available at the souvenir shops as keepsake or gifts to others.

I did not realize that I would have to join a guided tour to see the mint. So I was confined to the tourist shop. Nice displays but way out of my price range.

Since my last review I have been to the mint again and have gone on the tour. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I think older children would enjoy it, say about 8+ lovely to see the gold pour and the worlds largest gold coin 1000kg not something you could carry out in your pocket. Lots of amazing pure gold nuggets to see. You can also see coins being minted and get a personalized coin as well. Great fun and very interesting.

Best thing I did in Perth. Greg the guide was outstanding, hilarious and clearly loves his job! Absolutely the best value for money attraction I have ever been to! Loved all the coins and little bits inside. You can even make custom coins. They can print nearly anything you want on them. I would 100% recommend if you are in Perth to go on the tour and check it out.

For any tourist out there, this is the place to go! The tour is informative, funny and not too long. You have plenty of time to look around and even make your own souvenir coin! The big gold coin is a sight to see and the gold pour... Amazing..Really really top quality tour. I tend to find long and monotone tours sooo boring and this is neither. The guy that pours the gold and gives the tour really knows his stuff.

This is popular with adults and children, the Perth Mint offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of gold in Western Australia. The Gold Exhibition displays the world's largest coin, weighing a whopping one-tonne, as well as gold nuggets and bullion.

The history of Australia's old Nuggets and coins has been exhibited here. What is more attractive is the demonstration of smashing gold and suppressing coins. You can also buy a commemorative coin with instant sterling.

Such a fantastic landmark in Perth. Recently had friends come to visit, and as a local, I had completely forgotten how fascinating and well planned out the Mint is. The tour guide - Greg - was a delight and provided us with so much information.

Amazing place where there is a guided tour which gives a history of the place and exhibits. Highlight has to be the gold pouring, where a gold bar is smelted right in front of you from the furnace, which is certainly a once in a lifetime experience.
Admission fee and tour price of $19 for adults. Well worth the price
