This is a great place to learn like I did. The Staff Members are really great they all are part of a great team.
If I had to do it all over again, I will pick this place again for sure.
TIP: Don't get involved on things that can get you in trouble. Fallowing the rules, will get you far anywhere you go.
Golconda is one of the best job corps centers. It was open for actual student governing. Zero tolerance for rule breaking, but most importantly it is a stepping stone to what ever you want to do in life. I graduated from Golconda as a welder and went on to earn two degrees. The staff was professional, the facilities were kept clean and safe. Overall this center will give you a sense of pride and you get what you want out of it. It was a door of hope to my life and to my family. If I could go back and do it again I would in a heart beat.
Did I love every second I was there? No, but the staff tried. I'd do it again.
83 to 84 Heavy Equipment learned a lot. Pete Henderson was instructor. Lester Best was secretary. Mostly good times. Some bad.
I was in golconda job Corp from 95 to 97 in Riviera. I stil stay in touch with some of the people there I had good time there and it change my life in a good way thank you for everything.
I attended Job Corps back in 1973, my dorm captain was Mr Harper , my welding instructor was Mr Lee at first I was a little afraid being young but I overcame that and roll up my sleeves and get busy. I lost several friends that during my stay , one to a drowning accident, and five others to a fatal car accident . That was enough to turn my world upside down but I surpassed that as well . I'm still pushing for excellence, yes Job Corps was my Foundation too many sucess, and more to come PS my hats off to you guys
Filed a sexual assault claim against a male student there along with 8 other girls I found out that he had harrassed. Had video evidence from the district camera, turned them all in and they "magically " disappeared. Only a hand full of staff are worth anything. Mrs. Kathy and Chuck I will always Love. I was there June 94-may95 the best time of my life first time being on my own. My dorm was eldog.schaffer was my manager and I was blue dog.
I have learned a lot from this place and all the Staff were there to support all of the Students no matter what. I am grateful for this place.
