After ten years of commuting to midtown Manhattan from upstate NY, I decided to give this recruiter a call to find out more about the opportunities in the Hudson Valley. After we quickly breezed through all my credentials, he asked me my salary (within first two minutes). I had already explained that even though I work for a Fortune 100 company and have management experience I really just wanted something part time or work from home. I have spoken with many recruiters and they usually ask what range you're looking for instead. Regardless, I responded with 'oh I thought NY passed a law recently that you didn't need to give your current salary.' This set him off and he said I can't work with you! I am not an employer and you were insulted by that question!! I was very taken aback because the fact of me answering with a question SO appalled him that he cut off a potential great client for him, was so extreme to me. I ended the phone call right then and there. I then proceeded to get a missed call from them, but I will NEVER work with or recommend them to anybody.
After 30 seconds I was convinced that this guy is a fake, after he heard I had a Manhattan work background, he had absolutely no interest in finding out anything else about me and told me he couldn't help me, save yourself a phone call and don't bother.
