About Global partnership for education
The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) is a unique partnership and fund that is dedicated to providing quality education to children in lower-income countries. The organization was established in 2002 with the aim of ensuring that every child has access to a quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances.
GPE works with governments, civil society organizations, and other partners to support education systems in developing countries. The organization provides funding and technical assistance to help these countries improve their education systems, increase access to schooling, and ensure that all children receive a quality education.
One of the key goals of GPE is to ensure that all children have access to primary school education. This is particularly important in lower-income countries where many children are unable to attend school due to poverty or other factors. GPE works with governments and other partners to increase enrollment rates and improve the quality of primary school education.
In addition, GPE also focuses on improving secondary school education in developing countries. This includes increasing enrollment rates at the secondary level as well as improving the quality of teaching and learning at this level.
Another important area of focus for GPE is girls' education. The organization recognizes that girls are often marginalized when it comes to accessing educational opportunities, particularly in lower-income countries. To address this issue, GPE works with governments and other partners to promote gender equality in schools and ensure that girls have equal access to educational opportunities.
GPE's work has had a significant impact on millions of children around the world. Since its inception, the organization has helped over 80 million children enroll in school and supported improvements in educational outcomes across multiple areas.
One example of GPE's success can be seen in its work with Ethiopia's Ministry of Education. Through its partnership with GPE, Ethiopia was able to increase primary school enrollment from 68% in 2003/04 academic year up until now where it reached almost universal coverage (97%). In addition they were able reduce gender disparities by increasing female participation rate from 41% up until now where it reached parity between boys & girls enrolment rate at primary level
Overall,Globally there are still many challenges facing efforts towards achieving universal access & completion for all students especially those who live below poverty line but through partnerships like Global Partnership for Education we can make progress towards achieving SDGs goal number four which aims at ensuring inclusive & equitable quality educations for all by year 2030
