Gilbert & Blake's Seafood and Steak Grille Review

Pretty good place. I got the cowboy steak and it was okay. Could have used more seasoning. Spinach art dip was decent. Service was great, fast and friendly. The place wasn't super busy so you could probably get a Friday dinner table with no reservation. Haven't tried the fish.

The staff are extremely nice and efficient. Delicious clam chowder as well!

We scheduled an event here after my two daughters baptism took place. We were told our $500+ tab "wasn't really that much" by the waitress. She told us it really wasn't worth her time, and it showed. We had to BEG for silverware, plates, bowls, bread, and an hour late, the antipasto plate showed up. The restaurant was empty except for one table. My wife and I have had quite a few events here because she worked here for many years. The absence of Mo is felt and the management didn't live up to the standard that has been set. My family will not return and I will discourage everyone I know (who didn't attend) from dining here. Those that were in attendance won't return after witnessing the poor service

We didnt intend to go here, but did and I am so glad that we did! The food was so good and our server was very friendly. It's a little pricey, but worth it!

Recently went to G &B's and was pleasantly surprised to find a change in the menu for lunches. Went in a previous year and was disappointed in the lack of selection during lunch, but now there are some great things on the menu. Food was fantastic and the seating was quiet and quickly served. Great waitress.

The food was really good but the service wasn't great. I had to find our server 2 times to once to take the orders and once to bring more bread and water.

First time at this restaurant. The cocktails and appetizer were very good but our waitress had seemed to be to busy to wait on us for such a fine establishment which didn't seem too busy for a Tuesday night. We were there for over 45 minutes and only saw the waitstaff twice. Once to order a drink and then to order an appetizer. No water was brought to the table or to find out if we were happy so far with our orders. Very annoying to say the least so we paid our bill and left to eat somewhere else.

The food isn't really worth what you pay for it. Both times I've been here it's been boring and bland. Good atmosphere and quiet but seriously, if I'm paying upwards of $40 for a meal I expect a commensurate level of food and service. And what is the deal with the fried, greasy, overseasoned bread in a paper bag? Who does that?

Had a reservation for tonight. Got there about 20 minutes early and they had open tables. They sat us pretty quickly. Got seated and 15 minutes went by no one had even came to take our drink orders. Finally a guy came and took our orders. We ordered our drinks and our food. Another 15 minutes went by and still no drinks even. Watched 2 other tables get sat after us in the same section and get appetizers and drinks before we even got our drinks. They werent even that busy there were 6 other tables open in just our section alone when we got there. Have tried calling 5 times and no one is answering the phones even. We left. Thanks anyways.

The food and the service are great! If you ha met tried the ribs here, you haven't had great ribs!

The food is over priced. What is worse is the management, who happens to be the owners wife, who is unwilling to fix a mistake caused by their cooks. They do not know what customer service is. With being a nicer restaurant you would expect they'd take care of their customers but they do the opposite. They are rude and not willing to admit when they make a mistake.

Food was delicious, pricing is as expected. Service was great and they will try very hard to get you to consider a dessert by bringing out a plate with all of the options. Fortunately, dessert was also great and large as they were successful in convincing our party.

Good venue, very good service. I like to cook and I have a good sense of what is being served costs. A salad with 2 scallops and 6 small shrimps for 19$. Nope. Not worthy.

Was a little sad and disappointed. Dined in Friday night, the restaurant wasn't that busy there was probably a total of 10 people in the restaurant I have a special needs food allergy for onions. I was told that anything that I wanted specialty made they were not able to do because they were too busy for a restaurant of this caliber I did not understand that reason.

I was with 6 others on a Sunday night for dinner, all of us had great meals. Excellent food, waitress very competent and attentive. We all were tasting each other's meals because every one looked so good. I had the Jerk Salmon and it was very good. Others had Walleye - excellent, Sea Bass, Squash Ravioli, Chicken Cordon Bleu, Crab stuffed portabella - all were very good. Salads, soups great too. I liked the place a lot, will go back I'm sure.

Great location. Best for sea food and steaks. Recommend the Tuna, lobster, Prime rib when it is available

I brought my parents in there to celebrate their birthdays, and not knowing anything about your establishment, as we live out in Grass Lake, we decided to check you out. Oh my goodness I was so happy we did! The atmosphere was terrific, our waitress (Taylor) was very attentive and helpful and just a sweetheart, and the food.... It was exquisite! My parents enjoyed their birthday dinner and my husband and I were thrilled to actually go out to dinner and get some thing that was "'outta this world". Mom had lobster tail, Dad and I had Pasta Diablo and my Husband had the Macadamia Walleye... A big thank you to the chefs and waitstaff for a great dinner out, and for helping my husband and I make my parents day special! You guys rock!

Nice staff, good food. Building interior is a bit junky, atleast in the banquet area. Wallpaper peeling, outlets falling off... but otherwise a solid place.

Food is overpriced for the quality. Not sure if the kitchen was having an off day, but many of the items we ordered were incorrect or poorly cooked. The steaks were seared but hardly cooked through. They were undercooked for what we were looking for. The chicken parm was good, but the breading was burnt. Pasta was okay. It could have used more sauce. Service was attentive, I felt bad for our waitress because she had to keep taking stuff back to the kitchen. Menu seems to have good selection, and the seafood looked good. Desert selection was limited. Likely not coming back.

Do not come here if you have allergies or food restrictions of any kind. I have been multiple times and have asked for a steak, made gluten free, and it proves to be an impossible task. Unengaged service and beyond sub-par food...unacceptable and not worth it. Even the rest of my family, who has no dietary restrictions, finds the quality of food to be consistently poor.

Wow! Seriously tasty food. I thought stateside deli had the best Reuben in town until yesterday. Perfect place for a lunch meeting.

Staff treated us great. Food looked great but lacked flavor and half our tables food was barely warm. Had to send back undercooked steak. Would try again. It seemed like a busy night for a thursday.

Great selection of fresh seafood! Everything was first rate. Choices ranging from Chilean sea bass to fresh walleye.

I visited Gilbert and Blake's for a baby shower when we were visiting from Indiana. It was a very nice looking restaurant with some class. The exterior could use some maintenance. We were in the banquet room off to the left which was clean but could also use some updating. Staff was friendly and attentive.

Had a wonderful lunch. The crabcake sandwich was delicious and the lobster bisque soup was creamy and tasted amazing! Would love to go back soon!

We were at MSU for my cousin's graduation. Had a reservation for 15 people. Since they had a captive audience, they decided to stick it to everyone and only serve the dinner menu. I don't know many people who want to have a $40 steak dinner at lunch time. Not cool guys!

Service here is hit and miss, disappointing for the cost. The food was good, but service today was horrible. The waiter was very inattentive .

Disappointing. Walk in and it looks high class, high expectations. I'm sure that alone is enough for most people to think everything is great. The gazpacho was oily. i got a new york strip that was supposed to be "hand cut in house" that was poorly trimmed and full of gristle. it had no seasoning, and was burned to a black crisp on the bottom. I got some scallops that were rubbery and mushy. Side of "saute'd" veggies was just greasy. Overall I've had better food in a school cafeteria, and a better steak at Denny's. A 48 dollar meal should be noteworthy, or at least edible. this was neither.

Really the only 1st class fresh flown fish and seafood in Lansing. You have to drive to Grand Rapids and for 5 star service is Charlies Crab Shanghai Japanese Gardens.

Great food and service a little pricey but worth it

This is by far the most amazing place to eat...We have been there several times already, and the food is superb and the staff are very welcoming and attentive...we had the best waitress there that we have ever had, and we frequent different restaurants all the time. It is absolutely our favorite! The food is always on point...a little pricey, but for the quality it is well worth it....we will definitely keep going there :)

Good atmosphere, good food, professional staff and WARM BREAD.

Prices a pretty fair given the environment and service level. The free bread was delicious. Both lunches were well prepared and well proportioned. Everything tasted great!

Got in quickly for a Monday birthday dinner. Petite surf & turf (pictured) was solid, but crab legs were fantastic!

Got served a different fish than I ordered, although it was good (and expensive). Burger was good. All in all expensive for what one gets.

Great food and waitstaff. Reasonable prices for drinks considering the food menu's prices. Our table had 3 fish dishes, all different, and all came out perfectly. I'd recommend them if you've got the budget for $30-40 per person for a full meal.

Outstanding. Could have stopped at the tomato bisque and crab cakes for an appetizer. Had the lobster grilled cheese and I'm a happy fat kid! Good stuff.

Only gets a star due to excellent waitperson. Food was underseasoned. Steak was cooked well but three attempts to correctly cook a burger is not acceptable. We were the only table and they still couldn't get it done
