The rooms are a little dated, and could use some maintenance, but the staff is friendly and the housekeeping does a nice job of keeping everything clean. The problem is the outrageous noise. If you're planning on staying out every night until 1am, it's no problem, but if you're not, the mixture of piano bar melody and the thumping of bass from the club attached to the building are a great recipe for insomnia.

- Staff nice and helpful.

- Staff nice and helpful.
- Rooms are on the 1st floor and are very old, noisy and rustic. No tv!
- From 10 p.m., loud live music from the foyer / reception area.
- There is a gay club in the basement, from which the bass is constantly booming up into the rooms. Dreadful.

+ + + Conclusion: not to think about sleep. Despite the nice staff, never again! + + +

One of the best piano bars I have been too. Their selection of beer is great. Ask the bar tender to surprise you.

Very friendly service, the singer was amazing. Restrooms are on the other side of the bar behind the pool table.

Only accepts cash and they do have a ATM. No cover.

The location is super convenient, a bonus however I've rated as OK. I think it's time for an update/facelift. The furniture in the room was old and dingy. My bed squeaked with every turn and it had some sag in the middle. The only toiletries were 2 tiny bars of soap. No a/c. CRT TV. Breakfast starts at 9, a bit late for me. So this spot might be good for you if you don't care about the items I've mentioned.

Definitely debated the rating on this one and it could have been anywhere from 2 to 4.

Pros:
* GREAT location, one block to Commercial and all that it has to offer (shops, dining, entertainment, and people-watching).
* "In-house" entertainment options with a piano bar, porchside bar with pool table, and dance club if you just want to stay in one spot.

Cons:
* I say this first one cautiously, because I was warned twice, once at reservation and once at check-in. The club in the basement / ground floor is open 7 days a week until at least 1:00am. I underestimated the warning to mean that there would be a little noise; the entire building shook and earplugs didn't do any good.
* The piano bar on the first floor / lobby was a surprise (no warning at all) and I certainly didn't expect it to add to (actually overwhelm) the noise from the club until 1:00am on the second night of my stay. Had I know this was coming after my first night, I would have looked into moving to their "sister" inn.
* "Extended continental breakfast" offered 8:00-10:00am...which means you can expect them to start thinking about setting up at 8:15-8:30. Don't bother making your plans around this "amenity." I don't know if he was hungover, naturally surly, or both, but the staff member responsible for this task isn't the way anyone wants to start their day.
* "In-house" entertainment options essentially mean there is no security until they lock the doors at 1:00am. Superficially, there is someone at the front desk until that time, but I had people knock loudly on my door (second floor) both nights after midnight.
* No A/C in the room (a known situation when I reserved) meant keeping windows open for circulation and cool air. Unfortunately, the room was directly above the street with most of the inn's club traffic, so the loud noise from drunks continued until 1:30-2:00am (on a Wednesday and a Thursday night). Additionally, leaving the windows open forced the ceiling tiles on the bathroom to continually move and pop out of place, every time there was a breeze.

All in all, it's fine if you're here to party and will be out until after the bars close every night. If you want a decent night's sleep, however, look elsewhere. I can't imagine what it's going to be like later in the season when the crowds get here.

The Gifford House is an older inn, but that adds to the historic charm. Harvey, Dave, Bob and the rest of the staff were awesome and make you feel right at home. They are all so tolerant and welcoming. Given the age of the building I was impressed by how quiet the rooms were. The rooms aren t updated but the prices are about 1/2 of the going rate for Provincetown and the location couldn t be better with commercial street only 500 away and the public beach just a 1000 feet. My only recommendation is to pay the extra for a room with air conditioning if you stay in July or August (I did). The Porchside Bar on the property is great if you want a drink to start or end your evening. The rooms and facility were clean and the COVID protocols were followed closely. Great place if you are on a budget, care more about location than accommodations or just love older historic inns!

Gifford House was a fantastic choice- Their location is wonderful, the room we had was perfect, and the staff was friendly and incredibly helpful when there was a bit of a reservation mix-up. I loved my stay and would highly recommend the Gifford House to anyone visiting Provincetown.

As long as you're aware that there will be noise downstairs until 1am, it's a nice place to stay. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the room was comfortable, clean enough and excellently located. We would have liked to have tea/coffee/water available in the room. We were also disappointed to see disposable plastic utensils at breakfast, although this seems to be normal practice in the US from what we've seen.

Piano music nightly can be a bit loud in the lower rooms, but overall very friendly staff and great entertainment, included breakfast is varied, simple, and nice. Location is prime, right next to commercial St, and Spiritus pizza (which is open till 2am) is always a nice place to stop by
