I have to agree with the previous reviews. I was really unhappy with the food and cleanliness. I ordered a Chicken Parm sandwich it was very dry and chewy. There were ZERO clean tables available for me to me eat at.

I love Kitchen Gia. It's at Pereleman Building and convenient to medical offices. Everything is freshly made. The soups are delicious and the salads are made to order. The employees are friendly and knowledgeable.

This is THE most disfunctional restaurant I have ever been to. The lack of signage forces everyone to wander about the establishment confused. The prices are high and the employees are (at best) indiffernet, verging on rude. It takes forever to pay for your meal, once you manage to find it and the registar (again because the lack of signage) because the lone cashier is also expected to be the "coffee barrista." The tables and chairs are left dirty after each last customer's visit, as everyone is expected to deposit their trash and recyclables in the same location that the incoming customers must visit to pick up their napkins and condiments. No one wipes down the tables after the customer leaves! The worst part of this is that it is located in a hospital. Other than employees of the facility, the customers are folks that are there for cancer diagnosis or treatment who are enduring enough pain and stress and probably have compromised immune systems due to the treatments they have just undergone to save their lives. Stay away from this place!

This is a shocking and unhealthy experience for me and for my wife. Both of us patients at UPenn. We are suffering from hypertension. Doctors at Upenn recommended low sodium diet. We shared one sandwich for launch. We have never tested anything so salty. After eating half of the sandwich I became sick and started having breathing difficulties. The sodium content in the sandwich is probably 100 times more than the daily recommended value. This is unfortunate that a restaurant in a teaching hospital serving unhealthy food. The hospital should remove them or ask this restaurant to provide healthy food.

I have been to Kitchen Gia a few times and the food is really good in my opinion. They are pricey but what food establishment isn't pricey when located so close to hospitals. The only thing I don't like is that the lines are long when paying, but then again I do go during lunch hour rush. So I take the good with the bad. I think I might head over there now to get a bit to eat since I'm so close.

This place blows!!! Way, WAY over priced for food that is made in the early am, like the pizza, then sits in the back, waiting to get reheated for lunch. They cut so many corners here, Im surprised they have not ended up with a circle yet. Terrible food.
Way too pretentious. There is nothing "authentic Italian" about this place at all. If it was not for PENN, this place would have closed years ago, like I heard of the place a few years back that the owner here tried to open on a regular street in downtown philly. Just look at the other location on spruce st...it's dead when PENN classes are on break. Ask yourself why this is??? Because plain suck, and they are riding the coattails of PENN to survive.

This is the best spot on campus for good coffee and amazing panini/pizza. I am Italian and I have to admit that the food is pretty authentic.

Kitchen Gia' has also been a generous sponsor supporting local charity activities.

I work in the complex in which Gia is on the first floor. I eat salads there for lunch every now and then, and while they're overpriced, they tend to be decent if I forget to pack a lunch. They are also very inconsistent. For example, today I requested an avocado on my salad, which ended up being so hard I couldn't cut it with the plastic knives that are available. Two things are wrong here: 1) the person making the salad put something that inedible on top of my salad as a chunk of avocado, since she too couldn't seem to cut it, and 2) the person I talked to at the front counter when I returned made me feel like it was somewhat unreasonable that I should want the cost of half an avocado refunded. The staff has gotten worse over the years I have worked here, and I urge you to think twice about paying as much as you will for the food that you get while spending time at the medical center.

Terrible service and terrible attitudes. Good thing they have a captive audience or they would be out of business. Tried to order a breakfast sandwich at 9:00 am and they were out of eggs and cheese for a bagel so i asked for a turkey and cheese on a bagel or croissant. I was told "that's lunch and we dont serve until 11:00." What idiots! No soup until 11:00. Did i hear the soup nazi in the kitchen. NO SOUP OR FOOD FOR YOU!

Had breakfast and lunch here yesterday before a doc appt at Perelman Center. Reasonably priced, especially for its location. The food was fresh and delicious. Wish there were a place with this style of pizza closer to home!

I eat here more than i care to admit. You won't go wrong with any of the food- everything is delicious. The only downside is that it is super busy at lunch time and the room is a bit chaotic- so unless you are a person who reads every sign you see or you are familiar with it you might feel a bit lost. Also, you can make a delicious custom salad, but you will wait for it to be made.

Whoa! Always plenty of different kinds of fresh Pizza ! Plain is perfect , too. Best Lattes ever too.. Plenty of room. Make it a stop to complete your visit to Pearlman!
Price is fair. Salad made as requested.
You really can't go wrong for a quick bite .
Not your average hospital eatery .

Every time I go to Gia for lunch, I swear it will be the last! However, they are the closest place go grab food if you are pressed for time. The place is dirty and DISORGANIZED - not to mention extremely over-priced. Keep your distance and your cash.

First time visiting. They have a nice selection of pastries. Had a peach danish and a hot chocolate. Peach danish was delicious. Danish was flaky. Peach was nice and sweet. Hot chocolate was good, too. Prices seem comparable to other coffee shops. Will return to try their other items (they serve soup, panini, and pizza and other items).
