I did the other game in town the day before, hickory hollow is believe it s called. They use an earbud and give you dialogue throughout. This was more intimate, we rode to a site and she painted a picture. Both are great for different reasons, but if I brought my mom I would do NRS. My camp was also a stone throw from the horses! Loved the staff, horses, ride and history lesson. Thank you!

Let me start with, this is a rescue!!! These people are not getting rich off this business. The staff was very attentive and good with children that had never rode a horse. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. They don't have all the bells and whistles as the other riding companies but they are not in it for the money and the experience is not lacking at all.

Would not recommended and will never get our business again. They tell you one thing on the phone then something else in person. Over $100 wasted since one of us was not permitted to ride. My children's first time on a horse and I did not even get to see it or be there over what they will call a "miscommunication".

Absolutely a wonderful time. Myself and my two boys, who had never ridden before, really enjoyed ourselves. The horse are very well taken care of. The staff was very polite and knowledgeable of the battlefields.

We had a great time on our 2 hour tour, Terry the guide had great information to share. She had an answer for every question and the horses made it fun. The handlers did a wonderful job of keeping us in line and feeling safe. Each horse really has there own personalities, I would definitely go again.

The horses are wonderful, gentle and so very well behaved both before the ride, while waiting for everyone to get ready, and during the ride. My tour guide was Chris and I learned things about the battle that I never knew, even after growing up in this area and coming to Gettysburg all the time!! I would love to come up again and tour with Terry, as I understand she is also a wealth of knowledge!! Everyone is very nice and helpful and willing to answer any questions that you may have. What I love the most is the fact that all of their horses are rescued horses from a variety of situations!! Thanks for a great tour from a different perspective!!

My sister and I had a great time !! My sister was reluctant to go on the ride, she hadn't been on a horse in over 20 years !! She loved her horse "Jimmy" he took her on a wonderful ride !! My horse Roscoe was great and fun to ride, we enjoyed all the historical information that was taught along the trail , we highly recommend National Riding Stables and their beautiful well cared for horses. The staff was extremely friendly, very knowledgeable about the history of Gettysburg and very good with inexperienced riders !!

We took the 2 hours BattleField Tour last week. It was 90 plus degrees. It was the best experience considering the extreme heat. The horses where such a joy, well trained and just wonderful, even with the nasty green bugs. We fell in love with our horses Misty and Hudson. When I called to make the reservations I was dealing with Megan, she was just wonderful and I couldn't wait to meet her, her wonderful personality made me choose this tour. When we arrived at the stable everyone was just so nice. I do recommend doing the auto tour of the battlefield first then taking the horse tour and actually being on the field that you were viewing. The horse tour was the highlite of visiting Gettysburg. And I thank everyone at the stable for the memory and all the photos they took for us. It was a excellent experience. FYI - I own 2 horses of my own in upstate NY

Great place to get a tour of the battlefield...The handlers and horses were wonderful. I had an accident and was unable to finish the ride, and the handlers made sure I got back to my car and contacted me the next day to make sure I was OK. Would recommended this stable..Thanks for everything Megan!

If it was up to me, they would get no stars. I got a horse off of them August 4th 2017. They sent me the contract via email. I printed off the contract and signed as requested. They never had any issue with me and my horse until August of 2018. Terry proceeded to tell me I m too heavy to ride my 15.2
Hand quarter horse mustang gelding and told me I m not to ride him. She as of today took the horse and gave it to a different person because her gut told her to and that I am too big and shouldn t ride him. Save yourself the hassle and heartbreak they just put me through and DO NOT adopt a horse from the National riding stables. Nasty nasty people.

Everyone was helpful and friendly. The horses are all rescues. Very gentle and well cared for. Our guide Chris was very knowledgeable. We had a great day. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone weather you have ever been on a horse or not, just don't lie about you weight.

We tried calling and were redirected to the website via an automated message so we stopped by. We were pointedly ignored by about three people to check if there were any cancellations or openings not listed on the website. While I understand not accepting walk ins, to just ignore potential customers is bad business practice. Should we attempt to do a horseback tour again, it won't be with this group.

Excellent ride with incredible staff. Tour was great and even though Ive been to the battlefield enough to guide a tour blindfolded, seeing it from horseback brought an entirety new perspective (especially from the extra tall vantage point of big ol Ted, lol)
Thank you for the great memories!

My husband and I and our 2 teenage boys did the 2 hour guided tour last week and it was fantastic. Terry and Mary along with the rest of the staff were very professional and friendly. Horses were wonderful! My 14th year old son loved talking to his horse Elliott during the ride and I loved seeing him have such a good time. Wonderful way to see parts of the battlefield.

This place was amazing! You can just feel the love and dedication that all of the workers/caretakers/tour guides, have for these rescue horses
We were there on an extremely hot day, and they shortened our ride from 2 hours, to 1.5 for the safety of the horses, as well as the riders.
The Battlefield Tour was phenomenal! And we definitely got our money s worth in the time we had!
We will be returning either in October, or early next year with friends of ours.
I would definitely give it 10 stars if I could!

Excellent staff pursuing such a noble goal....learned historical instruction on one of the handful of pivotal moments in the life of this great country...the opportunity to spend time with one of man's centuries old partners in nature.

Wow! What a great experience. Being an inexperienced rider, I was a bit scared at first. Our guide Terry was so comfortable on her horse and so engaging with us that the ride quickly turned into quite a pleasureable experience. Very informative as guide gave you the feeling that the battle was just yesterday. Really cool.

I've visited the stables several times. I love riding the horses. It's a very different perspective of the battlefields. And Terry is a great tour guide with a wealth of historic Gettysburg information. Staff is very friendly. The horses are well cared for, and mild mannered. Great experience for families with kids!

This was a wonderful tour. Terry did an excellent job! She gave us a lot of information about the battle, about the Union's and the Confederacy's placements, and the local residents during and after the battle.

Today I rode a horse (for the first time) named Hank. He was the sweetest boy. He was gentle with me and eased my nerves. The guides and Terry were absolutely astonishing. It was a perfect experience and I d give it a million stars if I could. All of the horses were so well behaved and all super healthy and happy. These humans have big hearts and not to mention how knowledgeable they are about the history surrounding the battlefields. Blown away, and I will most definitely be back!!!!

Best way to see the Battlefield. Our guides were awesome. Terri (who runs the stables) is not only great with the horses, but is an avid historian as well. They even gave my son a horseshoe from his horse that he rode. A+

Amazing. Personal touch to the tour, no microphones made you really take in the beauty of the battle and horses. Horses were amazing and well behaved. My daughter and I rode Hank and Sebastian and it was an amazing experience. Love how the horses are rescued and the national riding stables turned their lives around. The people that work there and the lady who runs it is absolutely nice and makes you comfortable. They knew what they were doing. Glad I get to add this experience to my trip and 100% would go again. Thank you!

What an amazing time! The ride itself so so beautiful and our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the battle at Gettysburg. It was a very personal tour. Most tours give you headsets and try to tell you about the battle while riding and shouting directions at the horses while you are trying to hear the guide. Not this tour! They have it down to a science. You ride leisurely through the trails and you stop at specific locations where the guide will then give you some history and tell about the battle, no head phones. They talk to you directly. It is nice because you can ride without being distracted and when you stop at the sites you can really focus on the story of the battle. Aside from being knowledgeable, the guide and staff were so friendly and accommodating. I felt like family immediately. And the horses are so sweet, loving and well behaved. This is the horse guided tour to take if you go to Gettysburg or even if you just want to go for a nice trail ride you must book with them. It is an amazing experience. And best of all it is for a great cause. They rescue abused and neglected horses and nurse them back to health and give them a good home. So the proceeds from the tour goes right back into the rescue funds. Explore Gettysburg while saving a horse. I give this tour 10 stars! Love you TEDDY BEAR

My husband and I took the 2 hr. Tour May 14, 2019. I have absolutely no experience with horses and they were great easing any concern I had. Our guide was quick to answer questions and very knowledgeable. I rode Hank he was a perfect match for me. My husband who has had experience rode Gus and fell in love with him. I ABSOLUTELY love that all their horses are rescued, what better way to spend a couple hours for a great cause?? I encourage anyone to book a tour, just remember there is a weight limit. The horses are the most important part of your experience, get to know your horse they are all so gently and kind and have their own personalities. I love this place!
