Easy to miss the entrance but once you find it you will be amazed. Great collection of antiquities in a peaceful setting overlooking the ocean.
For people who know Greek and Roman Mythology, it may not be as interesting, but it's interesting to see the collections.
Not-so-hidden gem in southern California. This place is fantastic! They have the museum set up beautifully overlooking the ocean, with wonderful landscaping and gardens. The collection of antiquities is extremely impressive, and the docents that good the tours are very knowledgeable about the exhibits. Best of all, admission is free (so is parking if you're military with ID between Memorial Day and Veteran's Day). It's not too far away either, just in the north side of Santa Monica. Great place to go spend a half a day walking around. Enjoy!
The best place !
Thank you so much .!
Beautiful grounds, well-displayed art, excellent guides. We will return for another much longer visit.
I loved this place so much and it was quite unexpected! Based off the pictures I believed it was small and probably didn t have much to see but I was blown away! The Getty Villa is beautiful and was an amazing day-date place with my human. AND there were peonies on the walk in after parking!!!! Exceptional!
It was an excellent stroll ... Fantastic mansion and antiques exhibited from all ancient civilizations .. Entrance is free but requires advance booking and parking fees
It is a breath taking place full of wonderful architecture sites, unique beauty of art and unbelievable collection of world wide artifacts especially Roman, Greek, Somarian and Persian. Thanks the Getty association for preserving and provide this chance for the public to see and experience this human heritage of art and excellence.
A must see in LA. One can get lost in the Greek and Roman art and architect. The gardens are beautiful especially on a good sunny day!
Beautiful place to visit, nice spot for photographers starving for the moment. The only annoying thing about the place was the guards, who made it uneasy for me while visiting. At first, I was told that I cannot use the selfie stick unless it was folded, which I abided with no problems, then another staff asked me not to use this so fistic at all, which pissed me off and destroyed the moment. I had to complain to a senior staff working there, who asked me just to take it easy and not to bother, but I still found it really annoying and troublesome.
I once took a tour for teachers with the curator and was transported in time to a Roman villa. He made see, hear, and feel what it would be like to have been in those times. This place is stunning and the educational programs are exceptional.
Like any other museum get a tour guide if you're not a history junkie but all the things are really cool!
Great place to visit. Get free entry pass online. Parking $15
Lovely recreated old Italian palaces from ancient Pompei and Herculanium. Amazing gardens and
architecture. Highly recommended.
Admission is free with $20 parking per car. Advanced ticket is a good option
It's a good place to see just one garden! Be sure to go after booking on the Internet. The commentary seems to be every 30 minutes. I was sleepy because of the educational atmosphere. ;;;
I brought my girlfriend here for the first time and it was a little disappointing that they turned off the fountains. I know we're in a drought, but it detracted from the overall experience. It was still a nice visit though. They have plenty of artwork to view and the place as a whole is very beautiful.
Awesome place. On the beach right off
PCH. Be ready to deal with traffic at rush hour. Unique experience.
The Getty Villa has such an amazing collection of Roman art, it is absolutely awe inspiring. I do recommend arriving early (when they open) so you can enjoy some peace and quiet while appreciating all the art. Later in the day you ll find school field trips might cause a great deal of noise pollution during your visit.
I just needed directions to get in, first time coming. Parked far so I walked a while. When I arrived, I asked the parking attendant for directions on how to get in and he was condescending and fu**ing rude. He said i can't walk in, only dropped off and okay, ill admit I did not read the directions but its about the customer sevice he projected.
I am pretty calm guy but this guy was just an a hole. Not coming here.
It was not so big, but there were quite a few rare exhibits
Very nice location, great views and great pieces of arts. Worth to visit
Brings back the impression of Pompeii and Herculaneum particularly with the outside gardens.
A huge house with a lot of historical antique collections. It's like a museum. This place is so huge you can pretty much spend whole day here.
Serene getaway with beautiful classical aesthetics. Gardens, fountains, statues, and art. Easy to see in a few hours, but could spend longer lingering in the gardens or galleries.
Wonderful place, requires reservation. You will only pay for parking. Don't miss the smell of garden herbs.
This is a special place if you are at all interested in Greek and Roman art and architecture. The setting is beautiful, the art is fascinating and it is presented in a manageable volume. Unlike the vast, sprawling museums with more art than you can digest, this more focused and atmospheric approach makes for a great experience, much like the Frick in Manhattan.
The villa is a must see please make sure it's open and accepting visitors during your time in LA.
The museum was rather good as an appetizer for further study and exploration. But incredibly they did not have a visual tablet available for a deaf person in our party to use. They had one, but it had not been updated and was not functioning. They admitted this has been an ongoing issue but the never followed up on it. INEXCUSABLE! This place is over staffed and inefficient. Shame on the management of Getty Villa.
This place is amazing. Historically rich. Views and exhibitions are great. I would recommend to get a tour guide, it really enhances the experience. Parking is $20, no admission fee after that. The cafe has good views, but have in mind it closes at 3 p.m. You can check your coats or extra items at coat check in, at no extra cost. I really like the Greek and Roman empire sections of the museum. You learn a lot of their advanced and sophisticated social system. Great family oriented museum. Just keep an eye out for the statues, if you break, you buy... and that can incur a good amount of fees. I would suggest you go early, our tour took approximately 3 hours if you want to walk all the exhibitions. But its was worth it. Take comfortable shoes, because all is concrete or marble flooring. Lots to see, I highly recommend it. Enjoy a full day with your family.
pretty sweet for the price of $0. Just order your free ticket online, catch is your paying for parkinga
Great place off PCH. Nice Cafe and interesting tours
If you have time after/before visiting the Getty Museum stop by here, otherwise not worth the separate trip (parking fee). They have a selection of ancient Rome and Greek artifacts.
Fantastic tranquil villa with a great collection of art work including sculptures and paintings. Great views very accessible and plenty of parking.
Beautiful and Free! Can t ask for much more! To visit you must go online and schedule a day and time to visit the Villa.
Collection of artifacts and art was amazing. Docents were very knowledgeable during the tours we took
Nice place to visit, not that long walk to everything around inside. Some show room were good but not all of them are.
Beautiful collection of Hellenic art and culture. Nestled in the cliffs of Malibu, the Getty Villa compliments it's neighborhood with its ancient Greek styling and splended gardens.
Amazing night all thing beautiful in one night at this place.
Incredible recreation of an anchient Roman villa filled with incredible pieces of ancient art and artifacts.
Little gem in Malibu. Great collection of art inside a beautiful replica of Roman architecture! Transport yourself in time and feel like a Roman nobility while walking the grounds of this authentic Roman Villa. Spend the day with history and art!
The impressive vision of someone with the funds to make ancient history come back to life.
The Getty Villa is a rare place where you don't feel rushed in Los Angeles, especially by the beach. I'd recommend getting your tickets in the morning as the afternoon times are always busier as you drive up to park. When we went on a More
Love it , great for an early morning trip with the family just make sure you get there early for parking can be tricky
Beautiful place to visit for the whole family. Mostly European artifacts & history (indoor), but also nice outside architecture, gardening, and activities for kids, too. Shame a majority of the fountains had to be shut off because of the drought-A great experience nonetheless.
This place has beautiful gardens. Entrance is free . The parking is the only thing you have to pay and Its $15.00 . I recommend calling ahead because theres very limited parking .
It's just a cool villa but I wasn't thrilled by the exhibits. Lots of old art work and sculptures
The architecture rivals the exhibits! Beautiful setting & the restaurant is wonderful!
The role of philanthropy in art galleries in the US is interesting and the story behind the Getty and the Getty Villa is amazing - as is the colleciton in both sites. Both are must see.
The quality of the facility is spectacular and the collection is amazing. Easy to spend a few hours taking it all in.
There are many private collections of exhibits and beautiful gardens.
LOTS to see. It's free to go to the museum, parking is $20. Definitely worth it!
Absolutely amazing! The artifacts with all the research listed below each one, shows how false worship through dozens of man made Gods have all risen and fallen through the centuries.
It's really nice, loved the gardens, their collection from all over the mediterranean is very authentic.
Parking is very close, they give umbrellas for outdoor tours summer time.
If you go August or September you can taste some figs and grapes :)
It's smaller than Getty but looks good. I need you to admit it.
If you love art this is an amazing place to visit. Best part is FREE just pay parking.
