Good collection, great experience. They have recently put in alot of new stuff which makes the place feel cluttered. They are also re-doing parts of the Greek and Roman sections. Check to make sure they are showing before you go.
It rained the whole day I was there, but what a gorgeous place. I especially enjoyed the herb garden.
pretty nice location and well cared for. lots of nice items on display.
We looked into the Getty Villa when we had to cancel our beach plans in Malibu due to bad weather. Entrance is free but there is a $15 parking charge per car, which is well worth it in my opinion! BEAUTIFUL architecture and very interesting museum to see. We spent 3-4 hours walking around the place and seeing all the sights. Loved every second of it!
Great place to visit, walk, and bring a date! The atmosphere is great, lots of interesting art to see. Many beautiful locations for iPhone or Instagram pics. Nice restaurant and they even have a little coffee/snack bar if you just want a quick snack. Can't wait to return!
Really really stunning villa. The architecture is beautiful and the grounds are so well maintained. It s free in but they charge you $15 for parking. We mostly just walked around the grounds as I m not that interested in Greek art. Definitely worth a stop if your going by.
A beautiful place to experience. The collection is phenomenal. Once is not enough, I will return soon.
Get ready to explore the wonders of ancient Greece and Rome when you enter this museum. The architecture and exhibits will make you gasp in awe with their beauty and complexity. Visit the basilica and see the crouching Venus and well as statues of muses, pan, and Pluto. View the glorious pottery portraying Dionysus and the maenads. Once you are finished exploring the various pieces, grab some refreshments at the cafe or go explore the lush and beautiful gardens. As someone who lives in both Chicago and Los Angeles in different parts of the year I can say that of the two cities and all their museums, this one is by far my favorite!
The Oasis Bible Tour made our experience even better!
Did a scavenger hunt and really enjoyed ourselves. The ground and galleries exceeded all expectations. A must visit spot in LA!
Amazing tour! We took the Bible tour offered in this location which connected Bible references with the artifacts in display. Beautiful gardens , fountains and galleries. So thankful to J. Paul Ghetty for making this museum available to everyone and for gathering all these works of art. Entrance is free but parking is $15. They have vineyards and pomegranate trees along with fig trees and other beautiful plants like lilies, succulents and chamomile. The weather was Soo pleasant and we could even see the ocean from the garden. Highly recommended place for kids and families and anybody that wants to enjoy art.
I recommend lunch with the girl's on the terrace, sight seeing through the museum, the short little film about the creator and an afternoon play!
Wish it had a Roman bath or something ridiculous along those lines but hey, you can't have everything. Beautiful architecture, relaxing space, fascinating history, phenomenal location with nearby seaside views!
Came without reservations but they let us in, since it was later on the afternoon. Make sure to book ahead. It s free to enter, just pay the cost of parking.
The gardens were lovely, and so was the museum but art is really not my thing. Not as cool as some other famous art collector homes, like Vizcaya Museum in Miami or Ca d Zan in Sarasota or even the Hearst Castle in San Simeon, but I guess no one actually lived here. This was built to house the art collection.
Worth a visit but don t see myself coming back, maybe to watch the sun set which was gorgeous. Staff was nice and there is a lot to explore.
Wonderful city museum. Anyone going to Los Angeles should book an afternoon to meet you!
Meh. It's a bunch of rich guy stuff. Interesting history that could be learned in better detail from a proper museum instead of this, a private collection. Not worth the price of parking.
Good and free (except parking! $20)
Go after 3pm, parking is $15 and generally enough time to see
Saw a play "Heal" a modern sperm on a Greek mythology. Excellent. Wonderful evening. If you go get a "Sunset Celebration" it's a buffet style meal and you get reserved seating . Memorable night romantic as well.
One of the best gardens in Southern California and one of the best places to experience the original native oak scrublands of SoCal. Want to know what LA looked like during the Spanish Colonia Period.
An awesome experience, pretty museum excellent service , super nice and kind workers . I highly recommend the guide tour I learned a lot on it , I could walk all the museum with one of the tour guide just to know every detail about everything in the museum. They also have kids activities with legos and amazing views.
I've been there at the end of September, it was surprisingly not so crowded.
Fantastic collection of Roman, Grecian, and Mediterranean art from ancient times.
Took the Archeological tour. Really enjoyed. Especially that the original cannot be visited for the moment.
I liked the walk, a lot of learning and a lot of history.
This venue is enjoyable even to soak up the environment. Lovely ocean views with multiple vistas. Always a wonderful day at the Getty.
Beautiful villa filled with interesting things. Visited on a weekend trip to LA and really enjoyed!
Fenomenal collection in a very friendly and relax enviroment. To use a guide to tour you may be ideal. Note, no flash photography
Not very expensive. $20 for parking . Also, make reservations!!
Beautiful, incredibly relaxing, and really cool (if you re into history & artsy stuff). Free parking is very nice. Food and drink is available. A great place to retreat and take a stroll for a few hours. Access is challenging if going from north to south on PCH. Expect to overshoot the gate and make a questionable u turn somewhere nearby.
I love this place, this is truly a hidden Jewel in Los Angeles California. Yes there is the big Getty on the top of Griffith Park Hill but this is the real Getty this is the place that has always been near and dear to my heart and is always fascinating, if you come to LA I highly suggest that you come to the Getty Villa in Malibu the artifacts here are incredible the whole facility is designed as if it was a Roman villa that takes you back to a Time that we could only dream of and see in the movies. Two thumbs up without a doubt. Also suggest calling ahead for tickets due to limited parking and less hassle.
Love it. The architecture is amazing. I love the murals on the wall, water features.
A great place to spend the day. Staff was friendly, great art pieces and just beautiful grounds. Will be going back
Odd appointment only booking. Was turned away, I m sure it s probably great.
Beautiful villa. Great location. Friendly knowledgeable staff, clean, good parking, great artifacts.
Beautiful! The only negative was the tour groups constantly running over us and pushing us out of rooms.
A museum not to be missed! Step back into time and visit the Getty Villa overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The art and antiquities of the Villa are breathtaking and displayed to their best advantage. I was also fortunate to get free entry via Eventbrite!
A World Class Museum, great tours, great eats, wonderful gardens, and very attentive and knowledgeable staff. Afternoon Tea over looking the sea was outstanding, but hard to reserve. A must see Museum. eNJoy
Wonderful museum, well kept with easy parking, although the food is a little pricey.
A MAGNIFICENT EXPERIENCE, YOU REALLY FEEL THAT YOU WALK IN A ROMAN VILLA ...
Amazingly beautiful! So much beautiful art to see, and the campus is stunning! It's quite large, so plan to spend a few hours here. Great free museum, they do get you with charging for parking though!
Absolutely beautiful location and grounds, and wonderful collection of antiquities.
Cool museum though unfortunately fountain was under renovation
It is a wonderful museum. It was well managed and the courtyard was beautiful. You can see the sea when the weather is nice. When you go by bus, there is a chair and an intercom when you go down the entrance gate, and a shuttle truck runs, so you can move comfortably without walking on a slope. Parking is $10. Admission is free.
Wanderful place
A must visit museum!
I went assuming that the architecture of the Villa would largely be the sight of interest, and that there would be as much art. However, as gorgeous as the villa is, there is also a ton of sculptures, artifacts, and mosaics to enjoy as well.
The place is grandiose, but rather boring. They don't let you look at the whole property or really tell you much about Getty's life. They keep you confined to just the displays, so if you don't absolutely love Roman sculptures, don't bother. There's nothing else to see.
This was a lot of fun. I brought a picnic lunch so that we could stop half-way through the visit and eat. Spent about 4-5 hours walking around (including eating lunch), but you can definitely go quicker. Parking is easy.
a reconstruction of a building in Herculaneum with an amazing collection (dubious provenance notwithstanding). The collection represents pretty much the entire history of Greco-Roman art. A sculpture of Orpheus and two harpies was like nothing I've ever seen, you could feel the life.
Beautiful ocan views, priceless pieces of history on display. Free entry!!
Spectacular many ancient things a unique collection
A very impressive place. A brief glimpse of the past.
I have been here once. It is an must-go museum in Southern California.
Entrance fee ~10$ but you can easy to get a free admission online. Enjoyed the views and arts. Happy visiting.
A beautiful museum with exhibits gardens and architecture to admire. Knowledgeable guided tours are free and provide great insight on the history and meaning to the collections. A great place to visit.
You gotta check it out - amazing. Suggest that one does not take a 4 year old, however.
It is so beautiful and easy to get to. The museum is amazing with friendly staff and a great cafe for lunch.
Free to get in and worth every penny of the $20 parking. Reserve a ticket online before going.
This place is truly breathtaking and it's totally worth a trip up here. Very reasonable in pricing and so much to see here.
Beautiful garden, amazing paintings and sculptures.
It is an art museum in the west of LA. It is recommended that not only the exhibits but also the facilities themselves are beautiful.
Architecture tour is pretty good.. It is a good way to spend 4-5 hours
Great place to go site see. I'd you haven't been to Italy or have visited before the place will certainly remind you of it. Great place to spend an afternoon.
Free but you pay $15.00 for parking. If you use public transportation the day you go you can use your transfer to walk in for free. Interesting and educational but not my kind of art. Impress your date and take them there.
