This place is outstanding, there needs to be a 10-star rating for Get In Gear Bicycles. John made sure I got fit on the right bike, swapped headsets as I test rode it in the parking lot and got it perfect. If you are looking for a local professional that cares about his craft and does things right this the bike shop for you.

I recently brought my Yeti ASR C into John for an annual shock / fork tune up, drive train replacement and overall check. John fixed only what needed to be fixed. But best of all he made my 14 month old bike ride better than new. I'm pretty darn good at shock / fork setup, but John is an expert. My ride is much improved! :)!

I was looking to get back into the mountain biking hobby and wanted to buy a new mountain bike.

Within minutes of walking into his shop, you can tell John has a passion for biking and bikes, and is very much the biking enthusiast.

John is friendly, approachable and down to earth. He makes you quite comfortable in his shop. He is more than happy to answer numerous questions, and again his enthusiasm for bikes shows here.

He is excited about the hobby. He is very knowledgeable, and he knows his product.

I ended up with a beautiful Pivot Mach 5.5 which performs far past any of my expectations. John built it up when it arrived and when I came for my fitting, there was almost nothing that we had to change. Not even the seat height.

He nailed it.

AWESOME! Great service and a terrific bike shop. The owner has a true passion for biking and it shows the second you walk in the door. There's a small bar in the shop too with beer on draft. Bikes + knowledge + beer = heaven.

I have a Marin Rift Zone 2 that developed a crack in the swing arm/ chain stay of the bike. I contacted John who helped with getting in a new rear triangle from Marin. Even though I didn't buy the bike from Get In Gear Bicycles John was more than happy to help even with the heavy work load because of Covid-19. Through the process I also talked to the head tech at Marin; Steve Gravenites AKA Chewy about refining the design of the bike so it doesn't happen again. It's great to see bike brands listen to their customers and even better to have great bike shops around!

I met John at get in gear a few years ago through a mutual friend and decided to go with him to get a new Transition Scout a few months ago. Not only was he very helpful throughout the entire process of picking a bike, getting it built and out the door, but since he has made sure that it has been dialed in to ride great. I will be going back for years to come.

John is doing a really great job here, very knowledgeable and willing to help. Ordered a Transition Scout from him over the phone, once the bike arrived at the shop he had it built up and ready to go in no time. The customer service is well worth the 40 minute drive for me. Being able to have a Dale's Pale Ale while talking bikes is pretty awesome as well!

My wife and I wanted to get back into bicycling after 20 years but we weren't sure where to start. John listened to what we wanted, gave us excellent advice, and hooked us up with a great deal on a beautiful Marin bike. He also built up two mail-order Diamondbacks that we probably should not have bought (and did not get from him), but he "owned" them both anyway, making sure that they were built and accessorized correctly and that we were happy with them. John offers the kind of small-town service you rarely get in the big city.

I cannot say enough good things. John took care of me and my 20 year Haro mtn bikes. He did what was necessary to make them safe for my foreign exchange student and me to ride. I hadn t ridden either of them for probably 5-8 years and they are working flawlessly. On top of the the great customer service, John went above and beyond to get parts for my older rides and kept me pretty close to my budget while replacing the gotta have em parts. Thanks so much. I appreciate your hard work and professionalism as well as your diligence in staying on budget!

Best shop in the University area bar none. John will help you out no matter how little or small the issues are and always does it with a smile and great service/attention to all customers. John provides big shop service without big shop attitudes/elitists service reps!

I purchased a used tri bike some years ago. I took it in for a tune up and to have John see if he could figure out why my chain was skipping.
After much research on John's part, we found out that I had some parts on my bike that were the wrong size. Getting the right parts would cost a small fortune. John was able to get an inexpensive part for my chain that would hopefully fix the problem. It did!! I can't say enough about his knowledge and integrity.

I met John at Get In Gear Bicycles about a year ago when I dropped in for a bike repair. Each time I have dropped my bike off I ve been given an honest, upfront assessment of what is need. If he found additional problems he would call me prior to making the additional repairs. His work is always top notch and done in a timely manner.
When it came time to buy a new bike John took the time to assess my needs and make honest recommendations. He did not try to up sell and he even took the time to come up with several custom builds in my price range. I decided on the Pivot Mach 429 and riding has not been the same since. The bike is amazing.
I cannot overstate what a great job John does. His knowledge and professionalism is exceeded only by his passion for his work. I have several bike shops close to where I live but I am happy to drive past them and spend the extra time it takes me to get to Get In Gear Bicycles.

5 stars doesn t do this place enough justice. I ll start with John (the owner), he gave me some of the best customer service I have ever had. He went out of his way on multiple occasions to make sure my bike buying experience completely painless. He walked me through suspension setup, weighed it, recommended tire pressure and answered all my other questions.

The atmosphere was great, he made me feel at home. You can tell when you walk in, it s a rider-owned shop. If you are in the market for a bike, make sure you take your business to Get In Gear Bicycles!

Fantastic place to go if you ever have any questions about or need repairs. I went in for a repair dreading it would cost an arm and a leg but John was completely straightforward and upfront. It's great to see locally owned businesses that really care and this is one of them! Oh yea, they have beer on tap so even if your just looking into getting a bike this is the place to go hands down.

I bought my bike up their and he fix it from scratch because the bike was not well and he did a good job

Update October 2017: I have been enjoying the bike I bought from Get in Gear for over a year now and decided on a wheel upgrade. The owner of Get in Gear, John, was extremely helpful in rebuilding an old set I had using the existing White Industry hubs and replacing the rims and spokes to his specification. I am absolutely delighted with the results and have a strong, light set of wheels that will last a LONG time without breaking the bank. Thanks, John.

I bought a second hand road bike from John which he worked his "magic" on and I now have a fast, fun bike that feels just like new. Really delighted with the service as John is very patient and understanding (not pushy at all - he lets you go away and think things over, which I very much appreciate) and gives terrific advice and does great work.
