I am staying there. The say they help with deposite and first months rent if you get approved for a place. I turned in a rental application for a house, last week with roommate's .I got notice of approval this Saturday. This Saturday I took out $800 for my share of the down deposite. Me and my case worker asked to be refunded through life moves. They said no. Just be careful. Save your money and don't rely on staff.

About Georgia Travis Center

Georgia Travis Center: Providing Interim Housing and Supportive Services for Homeless Families and Individuals

Georgia Travis Center is a non-profit organization that provides interim housing and supportive services for homeless families and individuals to rapidly return to stable housing and achieve long-term self-sufficiency. The center is part of LifeMoves, an organization that has been serving the Peninsula and Silicon Valley communities since 1987.

On any given night, Georgia Travis Center feeds, clothes, and houses over 850 residents experiencing homelessness. The center offers a range of services designed to help individuals overcome the challenges they face while living on the streets. These services include case management, mental health counseling, job training, financial literacy classes, childcare assistance, legal aid referrals, medical care coordination, substance abuse treatment referrals.

The goal of Georgia Travis Center is not just to provide temporary shelter but also to help people get back on their feet by providing them with the tools they need to become self-sufficient. The center's staff works closely with each resident to develop an individualized plan that addresses their unique needs.

One of the key features of Georgia Travis Center is its family program. Many homeless families are forced to split up when seeking shelter because most shelters only accept single adults or couples without children. However, at Georgia Travis Center families can stay together in private rooms while receiving support from case managers who help them find permanent housing.

Another important aspect of Georgia Travis Center's work is its focus on mental health care. Many people experiencing homelessness struggle with mental health issues such as depression or anxiety which can make it difficult for them to access resources or maintain stable employment once they have found housing. To address this issue head-on Georgia Travis Center has licensed therapists on staff who provide counseling services free-of-charge.

In addition to providing direct services for residents experiencing homelessness Georgia Travis Center also engages in advocacy work aimed at addressing systemic issues related to poverty and inequality in our society. This includes working with local government officials on policy initiatives aimed at increasing affordable housing options as well as partnering with other organizations working towards similar goals.
