Great food, friendly service, gorgeous homely atmosphere
Great food, great service, very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. We will visit again.
I had the shoulder of lamb from the special menu, a friend had the roast duck on noodles, and another friend had the roast beef.
Oh my God - amazing! Lamb shoulder fell from the bone, with ample gravy and vegetables.
The duck looked amazing, and I have it on good authority the beef was very good too.
Staff were very friendly and eager to help.
The pub is set in a quiet area with plenty of outdoor seating, and even more indoor seating.
Am eagerly recommending to all my friends.
Arrived at 1430 hoping for a late lunch. Busy and lots of food coming out of the kitchen. However was turned away as the kitchen was closed. At 1430. Not impressed.
Lovely food in a cozy, inviting setting, I will be back for more!
Not been in the 5 years since we left Arborfield going back remember how lovely it is in winter with real fire
Fantastic service, well cooked food. Excellent choice of wine by the glass.
Food was very reasonably priced and great quality (meal photos posted) the service was very good.
Good choice for a family lunch in a semi-rural location.
Brilliant! The best fish and chips even in middle of lockdown. Very friendly, professional staff.
Amazing experience, great food credit to the staff and chef, the best fish and chips.
Best pork crackling in Berkshire! Super service and great selection of fine ales.
Good friendly pub. Have eaten here with friends for the past few years and have always had a good meal with great service and a fair selection of beers.
Very cosy and cute, with great food and really friendly staff.
Lovely welcoming bar staff. Beautiful building and tranquil surroundings. Oh and the food is delicious
Been to this country located pub/restaurant several times over the last 10 years and always had a nice meal.
This visit was below the previous standard experienced. My meal was well prepared and tasty. However my wife's, who is vegetarian, meal of tapanade with flatbread and roasted butternut squash was smothered in garlic and very disappointing.
Lovely pub near Arborfield. Very friendly staff. Good food and plenty of choice on the menu. Good beers and wines. Log fires. Would recommend.
It was a useful place to stop for refreshments and a good starting point for a lovely walk. There was outdoor seating available but nothing much on the menu for a person who needs a gluten free, low fat diet, sadly.
Different staff to we last visited but lovely & attentive. Nice, original pub with good food - we had the ribs & venison sausages and both mains were good, followed by a nice crumble & bread'n'butter pudding - yum! Reasonable prices for the Reading area & nice beers from a small selection on tap.
I have used this pub for a few years now but the staff change quite often normally good but at the moment very poor inexperienced and more interested in there phones it's a shame because excellent food but at the moment most but not all let the staff are useless
A traditional English pub good atmosphere but decor is looking rather tired especially toilet facilities which definitely need upgrading to get better rating.
I luv this Pub. Always friendly service and the food is very appealing. Great place to hang out and enjoy the wonderful English atmosphere. Very cozy indeed. I go there often!!!
Lovely little pub, great food, friendly service. Definitely return
We had a lovely business lunch here this week. The smoked haddock was fabulous!
It's always a pleasure visiting the George & Dragon. We have been coming here for years and it never fails. The menu always has some fish dishes, which we prefer in the evening. Service is friendly without being over the top. This is our favourite pub for miles around.
Lovely food. The steak was excellent and the sea bass looked good too.
Great little village pub tucked away in sleepy Swallowfield, Berkshire. Packs a mighty punch with a great menu and delicious food. I have been here many times for both lunch and dinner, so whether you want a romantic dinner for two or lunch with girlfriends, this place offers it all. Service with a smile and staff always polite and courteous you couldn't wish for more!
Fantastic food, lovely place. Great service. We'll be back!!!
Lovely food and cosy surroundings. Good service too
Excellent meal. Staff really friendly and welcoming. Traditional pub with good old fashioned values on customer service. We were last to leave but they didn't hurry us . First class. Thank you.
Went on 7th December, the meal was cold, sent it back. Replacement was ok. Maybe was a busy time as getting near to Xmas. But they should be able to cope. Coffee was also cold. Would go back? Maybe, but not at a high peak time
Very popular pub, good food, nicely presented, not a massive choice on the menu, but quality and different selection. Devilled kidneys, crab, whole plaice. Friendly and helpful staff. Well worth a visit.
The baked camembert was phenomenal, and they have an amazing array for wine and gins. Beware though: kiddies portions are huge
Old fashioned village pub atmosphere. Good food. Beer ok.
A real country pub with a good selection of real ales (some very local) and excellent food.
Great place for a reasonable pub lunch with a real fire. Thought my thin sirloin good value too.
Service was fairly slow and some Sunday roasts had cold vegetables, but the vegetarian option was nice and desserts were good
Excellent pub/restaurant near Swallowfield. Car park is plenty big enough and the pub itself is really nice. The bar area is quite small but the eating area is fairly large. The food is very good and the portions generous - especially the fish and chips! Service is very friendly and prompt. Well worth visiting, but its probably best to make a booking. Highly recommended!
Absolutely delightful pub - scrumptious food with generous portions, lovely attentive and friendly staff, and a brilliant old-worldly atmosphere. There's low beams so watch your head, but it's very sweetly decorated with hammered copper pots and fairy lights. The confit duck leg is divine, as is their Sunday roasts. Fabulous.
Lovely food, great service and a good choice of ales would recommend.
Excellent food, a genuine gastro pub. Busy on Sundays.
One of the best pubs visited recently. It is situated in a cozy village. Food is very. good
Just took chance when driving around to find a pub for Sunday lunch. We were welcomed with very pleasant staff and given a lovely table. We both had the roast beef and it was delicious my partner actually thought it was best pub Sunday lunch we have had for a long time. We shaii certainly be back again.
Lovely traditional pub. Good beer and wine selection and great British food. Not much vegetarian choice though.
Wonderful lunch! Very relaxed and cozy. Will be coming back soon!
Fantastic Sunday roast and lovely staff.. very polite and accommodating and makes you feel at home!! Highly recommended!!
Good quality food and ale and nice surroundings. Back room was a little chilly for our visit but the roaring fire in the bar was great. Bit pricey but really enjoyed the nosh..
Amazing old pub, low ceiling, fireplace, very good food, not so wide choice of beer, but decent classics. Had truly lovely dinner there, highly recommend
Stunning pub, friendly, cosy, excellent food and great beer
A warm and friendly place to enjoy excellent food and the accompanying refreshments.
The food was really tasty and the service was fast. I had the Roast chicken and my parents had the curry and the steak and kidney pie. It all came out quite quickly and was really yummy. If in the area, will definitely be coming here again.
Historic and authentic English pub, ideal to enjoy a pint of local beer and traditional and homemade food in a very picturesque environment.
Had family lunch in the pub. Food is very nice. W had fish and Chips and burger. We all enjoyed it.
Standard chain pub with keg beer and quick pub food. Not bad but nothing special.
Sunday night supper. Food, beer, service all excellent. I booked late but such helpful NZ woman looked after us. Even though we stayed late everyone was so welcoming Will dine here again.
Fantastic food ! Great pub lovely staff been a few times now and will be going again Sunday lunch is superb ! One of the best pubs to eat at if not the best around !
Absolutely delicious. Loved it. Great service and good price.
This is my go to place to take a date. Well if I ever get any. Haha. Great food. Great service great staff. Lovely views
Have just had a very tasty lunch at The George and Dragon. My husband and I both ordered calf's liver with mash, onion rings and red wine jus. It was delicious! This was followed by dessert of sticky toffee pudding for my husband and light pancakes for me. All excellent! The staff were very friendly and obliging. The pub itself is cosy with open fires. We felt Covid safe and will definitely eat there again.
Excellent. Everything was excellent. Had the lamb shoulder which was melt in your mouth and perfectly seasoned. And a great atmosphere
Excellent food, I had the sea bass and it was cooked perfectly. My husband had the fish and chips, he enjoyed his food. I would recommend.
Nice country pub, food is v good, nice beers and lagers and great service. Kind of pub you can take your parents for a nice meal. The G&D burger was excellent!
