Great guys to hang out with and talk to. I was in town for a few days and picked up some brake pads and a T-shirt. Very knowledgeable about the parts I needed and the local trails. They pretty much have a little bit of everything you need in stock. Good small town bike shop.

Charged $55 bucks plus tax (came out to be 59.50) for shuttle up the mountain. Every place we have been to charged $20.
Did not take us all the way up, instead said he was saving us a climb and dropped us off at a different spot. Gave us directions on where to go and the kid working gave us another set of directions. Tried both, could not find the trail. Local was able to help us out. Missed Heaven on earth.
One of the guys in our group had a broken bolt for his Specialized Epic. They went into the shop after the ride, the kid took a look at it and straight up said no we do not carry it and walked away. The owner at least put in time to try and see if he had anything that would work.

A specific ProFrame helmet. Upon my arrival they didn t have the color in size we agreed on but they had a different color. He knew I was in much need of the helmet so he helped me out and was incredibly accommodating. I look forward to what he does with the shop and will be back.

Welcoming Local Bike Shop

Welcoming Local Bike Shop

I dropped in while visiting to grab a part I needed. Shop staff nailed it on service, attitude, and advice for local trails. I have a hard time getting treated this well at shops in my own town - let alone as a visitor.

Best experience at a bike shop ever. This place is always busy, (probably cuz they re good), but Chris works really hard to get me back on the road asap for a reasonable price. Very lucky to have this shop in my town :)

We had a problem with the bike rack we were traveling with and had to get a new 4 bike bike rack in a hurry. I called this store on Wednesday and Zach listened to my problem and quickly surmised that I needed a better quality rack. He ordered it and it was in the store on Friday by noon. We also worked with Darren and Nate. Everyone at this store deserves a huge round of applause for making what could have been a bad situation so much better. They even installed the bike rack on the RV and showed us how to work it! Thanks guys!

While passing through Taos from Denver, I decided my annual tuneup was way overdue and decided to research bike shops in the area. My wife and I loved the area so much we extended our stay from 3 weeks to 3 months.....I am retired.

First I explored Gearing Up's webpage to to discover recommended bike routes in the area. Great recommedations! I went into the shop and spoke with one of the "bike wrenchs", Dustin. I don't let just anyone work on my Pinarello. Long story, short Dustin did a fantastic job of cleaning and tuning my bike. He is a top mechanic and Gearing Up is an excellent shop. I am so pleased to have found this shop in Taos and will continue to come back for all in biking needs.

Hummm..not so good... I took two bikes here for a "tune up" I don't really know what that means? but I spent $180 dollars and all I really got out of it was new tires..it was $90 per bike...So, I'm not really all that happy as I'm sitting out here in my garage adjusting my gears.. which probably should have been done? Don't you think? He kept my bikes for over a week and it really was not worth it, because he really didn't do anything that I can see except replace the tires. I would suggest that maybe you try elsewhere? before bringing any bikes here for repairs as my experience was not a good one ..

My bikes frame was having problems so I took it in and they told me that I would have to get an entire new frame, which was very disappointing. I would have had to spend a ton of money but the people there went through the trouble of contacting the company and insisting the they warranty the bike. Not only were they able to get me a new frame for free, but they got a better one! That is great customer service! Super happy with them and their work.

Full-service bike shop conveniently located in Taos. Knowledgeable staff and a great selection of bikes and accessories. I bought my bike elsewhere and was embraced as if I were a long time customer, can't beat that!

Stopped in to get some brake work done, met Chris and asked about turnaround time. He explained that he was by himself, and slammed. I was heading out of town that afternoon, so I was going to purchase parts (front brake caliper and lever, and rear rotor) and attempt my own fix. Less than 2 hours later, Chris had me back rolling!! The attitude and helpfulness of this young man was as good as I've experienced in over 23 years of riding and dealing with bike shops!

This was an excellent bicycle rental. We are inexperienced riders and the people there got us set up with the bikes we needed, the rack and the helmets very quickly. It was the perfect bicycle rental experience.

I had a flat tire with a damaged rim strip and no patch kit and no cash and the shop would not help me. I then went to Taos Cyclery and the owner David helped me out for free. And if you seek top-notch bicycle build or service, Taos Cyclery is the place to go. And he has better prices!

Gearing Up helped me build a custom mountain touring / Elk hunting / Fly fishing backcountry rig w/ trailer system. I m kinda too tired to write a review coming off a South San Juan trek... this bike is so light I carried the damn thing.
Darren (owner) and his staff are helpful finding exactly what I want and need - the shop mechanics are professional and still somehow remain cool. They assembled the bike quick and even got the left and right peddles correct.

I had a free day in Taos and rented a mountain bike here. They were so excellent, offering up tons of tips, giving me turn by turn directions to the trailhead, and making sure I was getting after the best trails the area has to offer (And Wow! It is so good). All in all it was an A+++ experience.

Stopped in, and was warmly welcomed by the owner s son as I browsed the very well organized and stocked shop space.
Aphra (the owner s wife) soon followed up (in a genuine non-pressuring way) and took time to have a wonderful chat about cycling, the shop, Taos, and whatever else came up. I had such a wonderful experience, and will continue to do business with Gearing Up.
