Food is amazing. Took my Mother-in-law and she said they had the "Best scallops" she ever had. Side dishes are extraordinary and the desserts are the perfect ending to a perfect dinner. The atmosphere is cozy and cool. It's perfect for a hot date or for a birthday dinner with family. The owner stopped by our table which made it feel personal. This is a must-see for anyone visiting Kansas City. My family will keep coming back often. It's always a beautiful evening. I can't wait to try the brunch! (Hint: Be sure to make a reservation.)

Fantastic service! We were treated extra special when we told them it was our anniversary. The server took great care of us, took pictures and had several insightful menu recommendations. The food was amazing- my husband had the prime rib which was cooked perfectly. The mixed berry sorbet is definitely a must have for dessert! We will be coming back.
Not a good experience. The service was poor at best. We also had to send a steak back that was severly undercooked and one of the bake potatoes was so burnt it was inedible. Finally, we waited for over 20 minutes for our server to come back after he dropped the checks off. Just felt like we were an inconvenience instead of a customer.
Was there for a Holiday party today and can't say enough about how wonderful everything was from the room decorations to the service to the amazing food. Truly magnificent!
My husband took me to the Gaslight Grill Sept 1st, to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday. Evidently I have the same birthday as their belated owner (Aug 31st). I had been there a few years ago at a pharmacist s dinner hosted by one of our drug companies. I had no idea how top notch the restaurant was! The food was excellent and the wait staff was very attentive. When I suggested it to my husband he was intrigued by the live music. (We are jazz lovers). It was such a nice experience! Romantic and fun. We can t wait to come back again.
Huge restaurant. Somewhat noisy. Bar with jazz was way too loud to have a conversation. They accommodated a table move... wonderful booth and great service. Food...Awesome!! Large wine list AND affordable short list that too is very good.
Not in my top 5 of KC Best Steakhouses. Unfortunately we were seated near the dance floor and although there was no band on Christmas Eve one family made it their kids' playground. Ruined everything.
I enjoy exploring around and finding new places to relax and enjoy some fantastic meals. The Gaslight fits that perfectly. My reviews are always centered around a one person party, so prices, availability, and critiques should be filtered with this in mind. Is upper mid-tier, in terms of quality and price. The wait staff are prompt, my glass was refilled every two minutes if it needs it. The food was delicious, if not slightly overpriced. Everything felt 8 - 10% higher in cost than what I would consider fair for the meal. Alright, so that's food and wait staff out of the way. Finally, atmosphere: which is going to be a toss up for everyone individually. I lucked out and was placed into a back room which was other wise closed for an event. I arrived at 6:30 pm, and as I was seated, a private band began to play. It was jazz, and very nice for the atmosphere. Overall, the building was loud. Although my snug corner was quieter than most, the noise level did exceed expectations. This was caused by the people, not the band. Overall, a fantastic of not expensive experience. My single ticket was 80$, including an 11$ tip. The only critique I have is that the the back rooms need a paint and flooring job. The carpet is clean but out of date. Great place, please enjoy.
We enjoy going out. Last night we visited this excellent restaurant which we didn t know before. We enjoyed a beautiful experience there with great meal and a well-trained crew and a distinguished chef. We put this place in our phone list and we will surely return soon. We highly recommend.
Fantastic top to bottom. Went for valentine's day and couldn't have felt more pampered. Beef wellington, high class service, 4 pc orchestra and a rose for each lady.
Love this place! Service, atmosphere, food, cocktails - everything here is superb - almost makes you forget the price tag. We usually go for steak but I decided to try a chicken dish this time - oh my! It was just as wonderful as the steak my husband had...but I still found myself looking at his steak longingly - they really are the best!
Always a good experience in the food is great bartenders really know what they're doing so friendly... Owner comes to see how you're doing every single time
I only gave a star to respond. There is a fine line when you order a steak rare than raw! Steak had no taste! My wife cooks a better steak in the oven for 6.00 than ordering a 49.00 steak from this place that should have been roadkill. Never again! Gaslights grill has ran out of gas!
It s overpriced for what it is. The food is very good and the service impeccable. I would go here again but I prefer the Bonefish Grill next door for fish.
Very expensive, good food but my review is based on the cleanliness of the restaurant and the time to get the order. This is where they to make improvements.
The food was good but not for the amount paid. The service was terrible and the restaurant was not busy. The waiter did not know the menu. When the food came out, he put the plates down in front of the wrong person. At the end of the meal he charged us almost 50 dollars to much. I ordered a glass of wine, when it was finished he never asked if I wanted another. For two people, the total was 120 dollars with tip. At that price point I expect better service. I will probably not go back. Happy hour is only in the bar. We might try that.
I've been here three times for the Thanksgiving buffet. Most of the food is well prepared but not all. Several dishes were a little chilly and undercooked. The dessert bar is great. Service is great.
My Wife and I went here for our anniversary, we ordered an appetizer and some wine. The waiter was incredible, very patient with my Wife, she always reads the menu twice and asks a lot of questions. He was genuinely interested in making sure we were happy and taken care of. The live Jazz is incredible! I can't recommend this place enough.
Nice ambiance, great staff, and food was pretty good. I ate there for restaurant week so it was a decent value...I won't be eating there at regular prices though...
I had such a great experience here! The food was fantastic and the staff was incredible! There was a small issue, where one of the members of the party I was in, had an over-cooked steak. The server and manager promptly corrected the issue and went above and beyond to make our dinner wonderful!!!!!!! I WILL recommend Gaslight Grill and will be back!!!
So enjoyed the attention to detail and the personal service of our servers - Katie and Erin. They really made us feel at ease as we had not dined there previously. The owner, Dick Hawk came and introduced himself and he was a delight. The live jazz music was perfect background music to a lovely evening.
Quiet on a late Tuesday evening and I am a solo diner. Still treated well and not relegated to the back table. Great wine list. I like the 8 for $28 hook and the wines in the deal are good quality. Steak was tasty with a reduction demi-glaze. The garlic mash was subtle with skins and chunks. Presentation was excellent and Whitney was delightful. A lovely spot for date night. 40s big band music in the background.
Had someone else do the prep,cooking and clean up this year and what a great choice. This place was amazing. All the food was fantastically delicious! The service was spot on and the atmosphere was seasonally perfect. This may be my new thanksgiving tradition.
Good food. Great service. BUT we went to have live music with my birthday dinner and the Back Room where the band plays was closed with a private party. There was no way for us to have known ahead of time. We tried to make a phone reservation, but only got recorded messages, so we had to reserve online. Very disappointed.
Two things. First you must go there for their brunch. The variety of food stations is amazing. second , you must try their Bang Bang shrimp. Its on the appetizer menu but one person can have it as their main meal. I do.
The Food was Phenomenal!!!! The Jazz Band was great. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her birthday celebration. I'd recommend The Gaslight Grill for any occasion.
I really wanted to like this place, we went yesterday evening. My dad and his girlfriend highly recommended it and frequent the restaurant. It attracts an older crowd, which was great, I loved it, but our service was awful. Our server (Justin?) took ages to check on us, didn't really seem to care about anything, and the restaurant wasn't even busy. Several servers walked by noticing our empty glasses and failed to do anything about it. My friends and I are servers at another restaurant in the area, so we try to be understanding, but these servers (especially ours) really just didn't care. The Pretty in Pink is basically Robitussin in a martini glass, everything about it is daunting. The texture is so thick, it's not even pink, it's just not good. Chocolatini and spicy calamari were okay. Definitely not spicy, like the name insinuates, but I didn't hate it. I realize that our bad experience could probably be corrected with a second visit and different server, but I don't think we'll be back.
Great experience at the Gaslight Grill. Our waiter Juan was fantastic and eager to please. In addition to great food my wife and I enjoyed listening to the jazz band. Towards the end of our meal the owner came to each table and introduced himself and made small conversation.
Had not been to gaslight in a while, this evening Bristol had a 30 minute wait. Gas light was clutch in the pinch. B provided us with excellent service, seafood was great, and really nice sized portions. Will be back soon
We dined in the Back Room with live jazz and the amazing Marvin as our server and guide. The seafood was delicious, music was lively and the experience was wonderful. In town from Alabama, but it's worth another visit.
Specials are good. Staff is good. It's a bit noisy, so be advised that it's really not the best place to accomplish much during conversation especially at happy hour.
The food is great. Nothing necessarily adventurous, but still all very good. The prices are on the high end but I definitely feel like I got a level of service that matched it. Great place to take your parents for a nice dinner.
Been here three times total. Always a great experience. Their happy hour outside is fun in the summer. Dinner is always top quality. The staff are all great. Nothing is pushed on you. Live music is fantastic. The owner makes a point to stop and greet everyone at each table.
I just had the most fantastic dinner and service one could ask for! David was our server and provided the best customer service. Mr. Hawk even took time to stop by our table and say hello. Great experience, I can't wait to go back.
