Our service was good and the food was good our food came out fairly quick. The location is great its right in the heart of downtown Newport we enjoyed our meals.

Came all the way from Florida and ordered a winter drink that was suggested by waitress and when I got it it wasn t sweet and very bitter. I asked to get another drink as it s not what I expected she immediately got upset and gestured that all the drinks are sweet in the front and if I want another I will have to pay! I said but I didn t know it tasted like that and she said well this isn t a taste test and got an attitude from then. She went back and fourth with me and I told her over and over I don t want to talk about it and I just want to pay also asked for her managet and she said she is the manager! I told her you are rude and had a condescending tone when I was talking to you. She started with the first of all talk and asked if I wanted another server and had to tell her please get my check, several times. A man came with a piece offering drink and said it was to clear things up! I declined the drink which btw looked like it had spit in it. Very disappointing because I had been waiting all day and read good things about this place. Smh please learn customer service and respect people especially when they travel from far to come spend money with you.

Loved pizza, salad, and seafood. Nice local craft beer selection. Service top-notch & open air seating great. Recommended!

Cute place and great food. It was perfect walking distance from where we were staying. Wish the view from the restaurant wasn't watching traffic.

I am visiting from Washington DC and thought I would give this place a shot and I wasn t disappointed. The nachos were amazing and the fried fish tacos were delicious. The only gripe I have for fish tacos is there was too much on them. Traditionally, fish tacos are the fried fish plus some type of slaw (creamy) and maybe lemon or lime. I have never seen guacamole on fish tacos but it could be unique to this specific place which is cool with me. The staff was extremely nice and attentive to my table.

Terrible service ! the staff could have cared less about serving customers .
The drinks we ordered were so watered down you couldn't taste any rum in them.

Poor service...staff looked totally hung over...only one bartender and one waitress for the first hour...plus the cook was eating while cooking orders...at least the beer was cold.

We had a burger and a pulled pork sandwich, both were very good. Sweet potato fries were very tasty.

On Sept 15,2020, my husband and I were in Newport celebrating our anniversary; completed our most enjoyable trolley ride and randomly chose the Gas Lamp for lunch. It did not disappoint. Service was attentive. The cocktails were excellent and the food was delicious......even pretty good as leftovers the next day. We would definitely repeat!

Chowder is great. Just a hint of cayanne.

A very clean restaurant, well organized and very beautiful. Very good food and very gentle and professional staff. You have two floors and it is very large. Very wide menu Clean bathrooms. The price is not very expensive. Recommended quality / price.

The only thing I liked about this place was the decor and atmosphere. Customer service is bad and the food is mediocre. Stay away from the lobster pizza, crab cakes that have no crab and under seasoned wings.

Went here for a drink and an appetizer. We only saw the first floor which had a bar and 10 tables.the wings were an 8 out of 10. They did have a good selection of beer from the area. Nice waitress too.

Friendly staff, speedy service, great music and atmosphere. Had my first gluten free meal here, buffalo chicken Mac and cheese, it was delicious. Many options for gluten free meals and a few items are available in gluten free. They have a relatively large selection of liquors and beers, and offer ciders as well.

I hosted my rehearsal dinner and welcome party at Gas Lamp Grille on Saturday July 14th and it was a wonderful time. Everything was absolutely perfect, and MJ was the most amazing person to work with. When I walked in after my church rehearsal everything was set up perfectly and I had some last minute things to do, which she helped me with. During the entire night, she kept calm and made sure everything was absolutely perfect. In addition, she moved the schedule along smoothly and kept checking in. The food was great, and the atmosphere was even better. The best part of the night was honestly the after after party that was downstairs with the DJ of the Gas Lamp Grille. We could not have asked for a better time/night at the Gas Lamp Grille. On top of it, the restaurant is right in the center of town so everything is busy until closing at 1am. Thank you for everything MJ!! We loved every minute of it!!

Fun time the entire night, and the bartender was actually very responsible helping me pace myself and keeping me from getting too drunk.

the grilled pizza didn't seem very grilled. the tomatoes and cheese were great, but the crust seemed like two tortillas glued together with cheese.

Absolutely delicious. Large and varied selection of American, but also vegetarian and vegan dishes. Large portions & all you can drink soda.
Caution: The BBQ Pulled Pork Pizza "floats" in BBQ sauce.

Such a great bar. My fiance and I had here often when in Newport . The drinks are big the music is great and the door is free. You can't go wrong heading here

The bar itself has a very cool environment, the staff a very personable and clearly strive to make you feel welcome, the food was pretty decent. On the steep on of the price spectrum but prices were quite comparable to other bars and restaurants in the area. i'd definitely go back.

This is now one of my favorite restaurants in Providence, Rhode Island. The food is awesome and the service was great. Check this please out if you ever your in town!

We popped in here after walking around in the cold in lovely Newport. The drinks were delicious. I got the lobster bisque which was delicious and definitely hit the spot. I also got a Caesar salad which was very crisp and fresh with just the perfect amount of dressing. My friend got an apple and steak salad which she said was the best salad she s ever had. Our service was perfect. We had a nice table by the window. I have zero negative to say about this place. It was a very lovely lunch!

This is a great little restaurant. Great atmosphere and you can sit near the sidewalk. The food was really good. Mojitos are really good hear as well.

This place has a good view to the Newport downtown area. Food is good and reasonably priced compared to other places in this area. Staffs are very friendly.

This place is the perfect setting for a fun date, it's right on the water but tucked away. The food was delicious, all menu items had a special culinary twist making them one of a kind.

We walked in and music was blasting. Upon being seated we asked our server if it would or could possibly be turned down a little. It was with no fuss. She was terrific at her job at all points of contact. Food was delicious with huge portions. Great meal. Great service.

The serving size was huge! I had the herb seasoned half chicken with BBQ sauce, Cole slaw,potatoes and grilled corn on the cob. The chicken was very good as was the service with a fun bar atmosphere...see the attached image for the view from the window dining area...

Decent food and service. Pretty good lobster rolls. Menu options for food and drinks are good. Place was busy on a February Saturday night but the food came out quick. Our 1st visit after many trips to Newport, we will be back.

When we go to Newport, we go to the Gas Lamp Grille. I have a gluten allergy. They need to have corn taco shells, so that a person whom has an allergy ,can eat a taco. All they had was floured taco shells. I was interested in a taco and could not have on. I had a person, near me. Who had the same allergy that I have. Definitely need have corn taco shells.

Amazing variety. Must go. Tried the Lobster Macncheese... it was delicious.

My favorite spot in Newport for a drink or meal. Bartenders are better then the rest of Newport, friendly, outgoing, and respectful. Steak Tip Sandwhich is AWESOME

Visiting the Newport area and selected Gas Lamp Grille for dinner. Service was friendly and food was incredible....fresh, well seasoned and delicious. Simple American fare done right. Ambiance was cozy, music selection was very enjoyable...if you like classic and alternative rock (at least that was tonight's selection). We will definitely eat here again!

I have frequented this establishment multiple times and have always had positive experiences. The wait staff is beyond friendly and accommodating, especially with large groups. Recently we planned a work function at the Gas Lamp Grille and they could not have been any more helpful. We reserved 3 large tables in the main dining room. When we arrived they were all set up with water for the table, and the waitress was extremely organized. We had orders for rounds of drinks, appetizers, some people got soup or salad, others just entrees. Food came out in a logical order, timely and hot. Everyone really enjoyed their food. The clam chowder and the steak tips were among the favorites at my table.

We were able to mingle and move around our area of the dining room with ease. Our waitress always managed to find us as we moved around during cocktails and made sure we were satisfied every step of the way. She was able to merge bar tabs and separate all the checks after our food came out. (doing it before would have caused the food to come out of the kitchen at all different times) and with over 20 people, every single check was correct! (be aware, they don't always separate checks for large parties but they do try to be accommodating. We were prepared to put it all on one tab and deal with it via venmo ourselves if they were too busy to do it)

My kids ask to go there regularly as well, my daughter claims their mac and cheese is the best on the entire planet. The Clam Chowder, Chili and flatbreads are also not to be missed. We will definitely be back soon!

Sat at the bar because it was full from reservations. Bartenders were very acomodating and food was delicious!

I don't know who Nick Carr is, but I could almost guess that he is one of those guys that buy the dollar slice in Manhattan and eat it with a fork and knife. The food & service were excellent. We had a party of 6 and the service was just fine. They even moved us to a larger table at our request without any issue.

Next time, instead of worrying about nickle and diming over an imported beer......here is some FREE advice. Order water!!!! It's just as cold and it's FREE. They'll even throw in some ice for FREE. Moron. Probably rides off on an electric scooter after urinating sitting down. What a !!!

Food was fantastic. I got the grilled chicken tacos and they were delicious and loaded up. My family members got a gluten free pizza and reported that it was high quality. As well as the fish and chips. Highly reccomend.

Mac and cheese with pulled pork. Ask for some bbq sauce to go with and it's a home run.

Excellent fish n chips with there gas lamp ale batter.
