Nice atmosphere, good service and tasty food. Good size portions. Friendly gastropub. I had the steak tips and my girlfriend had the baked cod, both were done well.

Placed was packed because of a cruise ship and a seafood festival. That didnt matter. We were seated immediately. Ordered spucy clam chowder which was excellent. Also had a cup of lobster bisque. It was good but could have used a little more flavor. Had calamari too. Pieces were huge. Overall great food and service.

We just ventured out for the first time after the virus and ended up at the gas lamp! I had the lobster BLT that was soooo good I am still thinking of it! And there lobster bisque is super good also. Highly recommend them ;) I ll be back

The Gas Lamp Grill is found in an old building in the downtown area. It has a pub atmosphere where the food is made to order. I might suggest the lobster pasta -- it's a wonderful dish.

I had a blast going here, a great hangout especially if you're wanting somewhere to eat excellent food and watch sports! It is a bustling place so if you want a quiet meal this won't be it. The service was wonderful. The decor was super cute with the lamps down the middle of the building. This was actually where I had lobster for the first time (I ordered the lobster tacos) and it was damn good! Practically half the taco was lobster cooked perfectly, so well worth the price. Next time I'm visiting, I'll make a point to go here again and try more food.

Great service, nice place with doors open to the street. Not a dark and closed space. Kid friendly. I had the best carbonara ever with lobster!

Great burger with pulled pork, pretzel with spicy mustard. Lobster salad with Burrata was excellent.

My boyfriend and I had a great experience here the steak tips were delicious and the beer selection was awesome! pub vibe a bit loud but that was the lively atmosphere we were looking for at the time.

Stopped in on a chilly, rainy night and was pleasantly surprised by great warm, fall martinis and infused bourbon! Great service too. Will go again!

Food was really good and good portions. Has a good beer selection. Bar tender was great with suggestions. Caught on to what I liked and recommended some great stuff. Quality service.

Food did NOT taste good and was not presented well (Caesar salad or whatever it was over flowed off the plate, that it spilled on the table when the server put it down). Server did not listen to what we ordered. Not a good experience.

Got there hostess didn't give us silverware, lobster tacos are way overpriced at $25 for 2 and kids chicken tenders were so dry and crispy my daughter wouldn't eat them.

Love this place. Some of the most friendly bartenders in Newport. Good food and live music is free. Always make a point to stop here when I'm in town

Very good service even when very busy, the vegan tacos when excellent, the pesto pasta was very good.

The food was so good me and my gf ate 3 meals here in 24 hours. Bar was great. Ask for Alex the bartender. Great guy. Can't wait to go back. Awesome place for lunch. Get the chowder, a shot of Jack and an IPA. That's the start to a great night.

Great staff and great food! The best part is finally having a bar to watch golf! Definitely a place to drink a beer and watch a major. They also have a few good IPAs on tap.

Drink ordered from bartender was great but maragarita ordered at table later was bad. Food was subpar, tacos were not good. There was too many different toppings and didn t go well together. Pretzels were good. Service was really really slow.

Do not go here! If I could give it 0 stars, I would have. I showed up with a party of 9 in total on a Friday night about 7:00 pm. We were seated within 10 minutes, but it took an additional 30 minutes after ordering our drinks to actually get them. One member of our party ordered a double crown and coke. When the waitress brought him his drink, it was in a shot glass. He asked if that was a double and the waitress very rudely told him that he didn't order a double. When he said he did, she again argued with him. After everyone in my party ordered food, it was an additional hour wait until we actually got our food. The food was okay but nowhere near the price tag. I personally got the spicy clam chowder and have never had a blander clam chowder. Another member of my party also got the clam chowder but sent it back and told the waitress the reason is because it tasted bad. Also, I asked for a refill on my coffee and was told that it would be right out. After waiting 20 minutes for my refill, I again asked and was told they were brewing another pot. 20 minutes after that I finally got another cup of coffee.
When the waitress brought the check, she brought 1 check and when we asked to split the check between the people in the party, she said that they don't split checks. We asked to talk to the manager and this is when we found out that our waitress was actually the manager. I waited 2 days to write this review to hopefully calm down and analyze whether or not I had as bad of an experience as I thought I had. I did. I would never go here again.

The food was good. The service was friendly but inexpert. Failure to refill water, clear the table. The music was loud, maybe fine if you're under 35. We plan to give the restaurant another try, maybe on a Sunday night when it's less loud. The

This has a nice variety of dishes for fair prices. The food is very good. Even though there is a bar, it is still an appropriate dinner place for children. They have a list of specialty martinis.

Lobster salad and Mac and cheese were pretty good and well priced. Nice location that opens up on to newport main drag. Music could have been a little quieter during dinner service hours.

Had a wonderful late lunch. I enjoyed a bacon cheddar grilled chicken sandwich with amazing french fries that were kind of a cross between steak fries and wedges. My Mom had fish and chips and a side salad. The service was great, food was great. We were very happy we stopped in.

I stopped in for lunch on Fourth of July weekend. I can't say enough about how well the wait staff treated me and even my dog! They made sure she had plenty of water throughout our meal.

The lobster tacos with guacamole were outstanding - nice large chunks of lobster meat. The meal was a good size and kept me full enough to skip supper. I picked up a chicken tender appetizer for the pooch and tried a bite. Also very good. The chicken was very fresh and the breading was crisp and flavorful - no grease.

They have a nice local/regional beer selection on tap as well as the standards.

If you like to people watch it has an open front and you can see out from most of the seats in the bar and restaurant area

Party of five, waiter would only come by to refill drinks 15 - 20 minutes after every glass at the table was dry. Place didn t even seem all that busy - private party in a back room???
Decided to call it a night after several rounds of excessive waiting, bill arrives - $7.50 per Stella, $14.50 for a glass of whisky. The whisky may have been slightly over market price, but it was a decent pour. However, $7.50 for a Stella in the U.S. is ridiculous.

It's always hard to please the whole family, but not at Gas Lamp Grille!! Everyone found something they thoroughly enjoyed. The staff was so kind and helpful and the food was high quality. If you're looking for a lunch or dinner spot while shopping in Newport, this is the place to go!

Gas Lamp is always a favorite when I'm in Newport. Their nachos are actually really good

Now, this review is absolutely personal opinion - but I'm guessing they've changed chefs and I liked the old one better. Also, I realize Brussels sprouts are an unfortunate current trend, but restaurateurs should understand they stink up the restaurant and overpower any delicious thing that has the misfortune to share their plate. Too many menu items include Brussels sprouts and I suggest something delicate, like scallops wrapped in bacon, should be available without them. Used to love it here - probably won't come back.

Good list of local beers and tasty cocktails. Compared to other restaurants with similar menus and prices, these guys have pretty big portions.

Not a fan. Hot as hell inside, yet the "air conditioning is on" per their sign out front. Small place. Decent service. Poor quality food. Wouldn't return.

Decent chowder, good drinks and entertaining bartenders. The rest of the food selection has been hit or miss, but the location is pretty much prime! The cost is reasonable as well considering the location.

Great food and drinks!! Had the house salad and an Alabama Slammer to go with it, the salad greens were crisp, fresh, and delicious topped what I assume was a seasonal house-made ginger salad dressing.

The shrimp poboy was one of the best ever! The burger was cooked as requested, the espresso martinis were awesome, (we had one too many)!

Sunday evening, 8pm. Lightening fast service. Lobster BLT was amazing. Live music started right as I was leaving. Loved it.

If you want mediocre food this is the place. Burger was flavorless and the chips were stale.
Service was pleasant but not great. No refills, did not take plates, did not ask if we wanted dessert or drinks. Slow on the check.
You can do better with the many options in the area.

This place never disappoints, whether you're looking for a place to watch a sports game or for a good informal meal. Food is very good, and their mojitos are to die for. Staff are very friendly.

Had a very good experience eating here. There s a great selection of cocktails and beer. As a vegetarian I really appreciated having options on the menu. They should make the Vegetarian Buddha Bowl Salad a regular menu item - absolutely delicious!

Unbelievable food. Wings were soo good my family and I had to order another. Steak tips I would highly recommend as well as the Pasta. Service was quick and had the food out within 20 minutes, appetizers within 5. Would highly recommend it.

Great location and good food for just about every taste! On upper Thames, and close to Starbucks and many of Newport s popular attractions. I had the restaurant week special of lamb chops with garden green beans and potatoes and my wife had the filet mignon.Both were prepared nicely and the service was great. We highly recommend to anyone looking for a good place to grab dinner!

Went there for security job guy doesn't work there anymore. Waste of ride but staff was great had a beer gave me card call Monday. 6delta6 private security services.

For some reason a $30.00 bill showed up as a $31 charge on my credit card. This is after I reminded them of items they had forgotten to bill me for. They thanked me for my honesty, I only wish they had returned it.

Staff was so rude and disrespectful. Will never go back.
