Beautiful library but not very accessible for tour...
Beautiful library but not very accessible for tourists.
Beautiful library but not very accessible for tourists.
Wonderful ! Brazil needs to review its past and be proud of it to achieve progress!
The architecture is reason enough for a visit. The collection is gigantic and valuable. Currently under renovation.
The place is beautiful, but the guide who was with my group was not friendly and "ran", making us barely see the entire library ...
Beautiful place, but the air conditioning doesn't flow, it's very hot and there are a lot of stairs
Public building of great importance, beautiful architecture and important collection
The National Library is the depository of the bibliographic and documentary heritage of Brazil, and is considered by UNESCO one of the ten largest national libraries in the world and the largest in Latin America. Among its various responsibilities, include preserving, updating and publicizing a collection with more than nine million pieces, which began with the arrival of the Real Biblioteca in Brazil and grows constantly, through donations, acquisitions and with the deposit cool. It is a very beautiful place to visit, and is located in Rio Branco square, in Rio de Janeiro. It is also an incredible place to study.
Library located in the central point of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Building is a work of art and the collection of this library is very vast. I remember that in my youth, in the 60s, when I was in high school, I visited this library several times to research works and borrow books.
You can only see part of the pb and part of the first floor a shame.
The architecture is wonderful
Historical tour through the center of Rio. obligatory stop for tourists.
As a researcher, the Library fully complies with my requests. From the point of view of problems to be solved, the issue of the air conditioning system, connected to the increase of the electric load capacity, is a priority for immediate measures.
A beautiful reference of Brazilian and world literature. Super recommend !!
Visiting is a little limited, we can only go up to the second floor, we go through a search at the entrance and at the reception you receive instructions on where to go, the backpack has to be kept in the cupboards, they ask you to put a real coin , but if not, they release a little yellow file and just put it in the closet to lock it. The view from up there is beautiful and the place is wonderful.
Beautiful building. It deserves more attention from the public power for its conservation. It is worth doing the guided tour.
Great tour for those who love to know and relive part of the history of Brazil!
Beautiful architecture and very polite and helpful attendants. Too bad access is too restricted for a tourist spot.
One of the most incredible experiences on Brazilian history. I highly recommend this place. Inside there are two of the 60 Bibles that existed in the WORLD written in Latin (circa 1440).
Who is interested in architecture, the place is worth the visit!
The National Library still retains a taste of colonial times. If the purpose of your visit is the books, it is better a guided tour, then yes, you will have access to the huge collection that the library has!
(The library has a wardrobe to leave your stuff before entering the building, the tip is: If you are passing through Rio with some backpacking and want to get rid of weight, leave there and get back in!)
I've been there. It is a beautiful place with a majestic construction.
Incredible place, the largest collection in the country.
My house, my life, my heart, where my books are received
I sent a song for registration in June 2020 and I have no news!
Magnificent building opened in 1910 with neoclassical architecture. Its facades are being renovated but the interior is very well preserved. In addition to access to the book collection, there are always exhibitions of rare works and a free guided tour.
One of the most beautiful Library in the world. Considered by UNESCO one of the 10 largest in the world and largest in Latin America. It is currently in the process of restoring the facade.
The architecture of this building is fantastic. Inside the building, you can basically do two things: a short tour, through the corridors and some rooms, to get to know the building; and refers to the acquis, which is public but needs a registry. Whatever your purpose, tour or study, be sure to be surrounded by a beautiful and charming decoration that transports you to many decades ago. When I went (February 2019) I also had an incredible display in the back of the Library about the arrival of the royal family to Brazil. Sightseeing not to miss.
Most charming place in Rio !!! The architecture of the building manages to make you travel in time. For anyone who loves history well worth it, I went in May 2019 and had an exhibition of the Johannine period in the back of the Library which was wonderful. The staff is very kind, there is room for you to leave your bag and enjoy the visit better. The only caveat I believe the place has is the lack of accessibility for wheelchair users, since the front is all of stairs. There is an elevator inside the building but I do not know if anyone on the ground floor could have access ...
Although access is restricted in some rooms, after all it is a library, it is a magical place in Rio.
A pleasant walk, to admire. A building with many details. Today the exhibition was by Monteiro Lobato. But there is not a very large area, but it is beautiful place to be seen
A sanctuary of books !!! One of the most beautiful places in Rio de Janeiro !!!
Obligatory tour in the center of Rio. Magnificent building. A huge collection. It is worth doing the visitation!
Gorgeous place. The interior is so beautiful it makes you want to take a picture of every detail. I suggest you take the time just to admire the local architecture.
I went to visit an exhibition about dictatorship and democratization of the country, what was happening on the top floor, but unfortunately when I arrived was already being dismantled. For this reason did not get to know more of the building. I intend to return soon.
Unfortunately, Google says it's open until 7:00 p.m. but we could not go in for visitation until 5:00 p.m.
Very good disposition with tourists, it is advisable to visit 100%
The structure of this library is perfect, incredibly beautiful. Admission is free and no appointment required. If you're lucky you got some wonderful exposure like the one I got about Luther and the 500 years of More
Very beautiful place, the visit is quick to those who are sightseeing.
Cultural heritage with the history of Brazil and its main icons of literature - that moved through this space. We are talking about - the largest library - with all the necessary information, for our historical / cultural knowledge as a Brazilian people. Loved it!
Nice place where there are always incredible exhibitions, besides being historical and with beautiful architecture. There are security guards and people committed to helping you.
Wonderful place! Free and well located in downtown Rio de Janeiro. People who are willing to give information, are very kind to you. You can pedquisar the library collection, but you can not take own material, only blank sheets and nootebook, and need to register. It has a closet to store the bags. They do a guided tour, do not need registration and just give the name.
How to take a time machine and go to a Brazil before the first world war.
Other visit, pity I could not access books, only allow for registered people and teachers, plus the rest, thanks very historic building and a little history of Imperial history, in the museum behind we have several things, such as the letter of Napoleon and abroad The Royal Family's materials speak the truth only left to keep the history of the empire of Brazil because the National Museum was already.
I've been trying for several days to talk on the National Library phone and I'm not getting it.
I need to get information about an application for registration of a material that was submitted in June and I have not yet received an answer.
Beautiful building and it s free to walk around and visit. Shame that only 2 of the 4 floors are open to the public - and even then, all of the side rooms that contain the archives are
closed off to the public. Descriptions of the limited exhibits that are accessible are only in Portuguese :(
Culture and innovation in a historic building.
A fascinating library and the modernity of the computer room.
It only saddens the carelessness with the back area, including the garden, which despite being a very nice place and with beautiful trees, the maintenance is precarious.
Beautiful building and architecture inside, but saw no books. All closed off to the public.
Very important, at the time of the empire was already seen the need for culture, a pity that was not given the real importance in the evolution of times, the true principles of knowledge ....
It is very sad that a Library has no room for study. What is a Library for? Just to visit and get your own material? A self-respecting Library should have a place to study. A specific room to take our material and study. Very sad...
I registered a book with the National Library Foundation in June 2019; I have already searched the FBN website using my name, my cpf, the title of the intellectual work and until now nothing. In a call made last year, the information I got was that I would wait. But will I have to wait two more years?
