I contacted FSS after using Google search for help with debt. I have given 1 star as initially they were very helpful and polite over the phone. I was advised that an IVA WOULD be my best option (condensing 12k of debt with 9 different creditors).
When i rang FSS back to suggest I know longer needed the IVA they became very pushy, told me I was making a mistake etc. I felt like I was in a sales situation. They basically said I was lying as creditors can't stop interest and charges without an IVA - believe me they can and Will! FSS just want your money and the majority of the money you pay to them goes to them not towards your debts!! They don't offer the right advice at all!!
Please please please contact your creditors first and ask for a paypay/hardship plan and for them to stop interest and charges until the end of the plan. Or contact step change if you dont feel you can do this
An IVA is not always an easy option and can affect your finacial status and assets massively. Yes being in a payment plan will affect your finacial status but no where near like being on an IVA. And you actually do pay off your debt for the same amont!! In an IVA You are paying hardly anything off your debt and just paying money to these guys.
Poor experience.. I havent had my letter to say I've failed my iva. And my banks defaulted me!!! So I'm having to chase this up!
Very helpful people especially Stephen burton whom I first spoke to about help with my debts. After having so much unsecured debt , I turned to this company for help , my only regret is I didn't do it sooner . I could of saved myself a lot of sleepless nights worrying. I am writing this review regarding my help and support received from Stephen Burton.
I didn't think that I would get any help to be honest and felt like I had no support or help and felt like I was backed into a corner however when I called the debt help line and spoke to Stephen he made me feel a lot better he listened to what I had to say took details of my financial difficulties and we went from there. Stephen was great he was nice and well informative about the whole situation took me through different choices and ended up on an iva which we thought would be best for me and my situation. From start to finish he made me feel comfortable in how we proceeded, last month was the first time in a long time that all my bills were paid and I wasn't stressed out and having anxiety I even had bit money spare to take my kids out for food which has not happened in over a yr which was good for all of us. All in all I think Stephen is a great asset to your company he has great customer service, friendly, informative made me feel a lot better than what I have done he didn't judge me or the situation I got my self into like other people have. He really has been a genuine good guy.
