Awesome selection of fine meats and cheeses. The selections are pricey, but oh sooo good!

If you are visiting Madison, you have to go here. You'll get an awesome Wisconsin cheese experience. They let you try any cheese you want to. The staff are all very friendly and eager to tell you everything about each cheese. They really are experts. And the cheese is heavenly.

My fav cheese shop. They have a great selection and a crew full of knowledge.

We ordered their "cheese cake" for our wedding and it was excellent. We also paid to have a cheese-monger present for the serving and it was a great experience. Also their sandwiches are very good.

I visited a short time after the lunch hour when an old lady behind the counter told me they didn't make sandwiches to order, that they are made in the morning and then sold off until they are gone (like a gas station). I saw their incredible website and made an assumption so that's on me. The reason for the review is that the SMUG lady behind the counter said exactly "there's no way we're making anymore sandwiches today". Well guess what? I'll go ahead and spread the word! ZERO STARS. For your situational awareness, I was well-dressed in business casual.

Very friendly staff 1 of the best places in Madison

I am obsessed with their sandwiches. I didn't even realize that they had lunch items there until recently. They are on the pricey side ($9.50 with tax) but OH SO WORTH IT. My favorite is the Pasture Harvest but they all are delicious sounding. I was in twice this week already. EDIT: OK, I went in again today. Three times this week.

Amazing staff! Cheese selection is amazing and highest quality! The sandwich I got was a little too posh for my taste. Good but I prefer a more 'Mom & Pop style (definitely fresh, tasty ingredients but dry and ratios were off, my Val D'Aran Beef looked nothing like it is depicted on the website)

This place is really nice and has a lot of interesting cheeses and foods, but the prices are high and it's hard to look around because there are little tables for stand/eating. It's a little awkward because you have to push past people to see what is for sale. That's the only reason I rated them four stars instead of five.

I did not actually end up eating here, so this is only a review of the service. I was turned away from eating here because of the service. I wanted to order a signature sandwich without the olive tapenade, and the woman working behind the counter was very rude, unaccommodating, and told me it would take an extra 10 minutes to make the sandwich. I noticed that there are other reviews on here in which people commented on how rude and snotty the staff is...hate to say it, but they were right. Hopefully management reads these reviews and can hire and train people on good customer service because your current staff is deterring business.

Soooo much cheese. Must go if in downtown Madison. Took 4 pounds home.

If you need cheese, this is a wonderful place to try a wide variety of wisconsin's most famous non-alcoholic product. The staff is helpful with samples and suggestions. The prices are high but so is the quality. Try the Gouda.

This place is an absolute gem. Their selection of cheeses and pairings far exceeds anything else you can find in the Madison area. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. You will not leave here without finding exactly what you came for, plus several other things you didn t know you needed. Their Val d Aran Roast Beef Sandwich is the best sandwich in Madison.

Cranberry cheese is the best! It's a little expensive but totally worth every penny!

The staff are very knowledgeable and generous with cheese tasting. The choices are myriad, so the option to try before buying is welcome. A great place to get excellent Wisconsin cheeses.

Not as much in the way of domestic (i.e. WI) or nice import cheeses and very gift shoppy. A nice selection of cheeses though and EXCELLENT, KNOWLEDGEABLE customer service. Would visit again if there was a substantial difference between this store and an a high end grocery store.

Don't get a sandwich here they are terrible. Staff is great cheese is great but the sandwiches are awful.

You are best off bringing cash and leaving your cards at home here. Very scary place to go to without a plan because before you know it you've spent a hundred dollars on cheese. I never make it out without buying much more than I planned... Love this place. It's a treasure.

I love Fromagination. Despite my (and my parents') mild lactose intolerance, I come here to buy a variety of artisanal cheeses for myself and as gifts for my parents in Illinois. The selection of Wisconsin cheese is great and the cheesemongers will help you find the right one for the occasion, including what to pair it with.

I highly recommend talking to them and describing the type of cheese you're looking for or the occasion. Sandwiches are also some of the best in town!

The sandwiches have a ton of flavor here, but they are more expensive than a sandwich should be...espeically given how small they are. Overall I wouldn't recommend this place for their sandwiches. There are a lot of great options in this area that are just as tasty/healthy.

Great cheeses. Do rmr though that it's a specialty shop. So sometimes you will find the same cheese in a grocery store, but it may be a decent amount more expensive here. But they have an amazing selection and as long as your smart with your purchase you'll walk away happy.

Fromagination is literally a place where dreams come true for cheese lovers. We aren t from Madison but came by during a day trip last summer and completely fell in love. Not only do they have a wide selection of delicious cheeses (both local and international), they also have a knowledgeable and friendly staff, delicious lunch options, and adorable merchandise. We re excited for our next trip to Madison just so we can visit Fromagination! Thank you for a lovely time.

A great place to shop for Wisconsin cheese. They also have a small range but great tasting sandwiches that one can grab for a quick lunch.

Ordered a social distancing cheese box for my grandma for her 80th birthday. The estimated shipping projected it to get there the day after her birthday (5 business days after I'd placed the order, my fault for not ordering sooner) but it ended up getting there in 2 business days so she'll be able to enjoy it as part of her birthday! She said it was wrapped up beautifully upon arrival and everything has been delicious. Fromagination really did an amazing job in making my grandma's birthday special and I especially feel like they went above and beyond to get it to her so quickly even though I'd selected standard shipping. Always pleased with their service and products but this instance made me especially grateful for Fromagination and its wonderful staff.

I recently was asked to pick up a work gift at Fromagination. They were wonderful to work with on choosing a time to drop in. I also needed to do this after hours and bring my four year old assistant along. She is notoriously picky eater but hoping to work dinner into this errand I was able to convince her to split a sandwich with me. The Pasture Harvest was a winner! The kid ate half and I was able to eat real food! THANK YOU FROMAGINATION!!! An absolute game changer for us!

Amazing service! Ian was so helpful! He found the most comparable option to what we were originally looking for and also introduced us to cheeses we never knew we'd love! Highly recommend. The shop has so many really great options. Free shipping to Iowa, so I'll be ordering from them in the future!

I had the pleasure to visit fromagination while on vacation and had the best experience! Very friendly, and knowledgeable staff! They even ship products. No trip is complete without visiting.

So I had a really hard time choosing which cheese shop to go to before I caught my plane out of Madison back in February. It was my first time in Wisconsin and you know you have to bring some cheese home. So I stopped by here a few hours before my flight. This place was gorgeous inside, the staff would cut up little sample for you on a cutting board of any cheese you might want to buy. And they took there time to make sure you got what you needed. They were so informative and kind. Now the price was a little steep, but it was well worth every penny! My favorites, Pepper Jack Goat Cheese, Mountain Cheddar's, and the Red Wine flavored cheese. I almost wish I lived in Wisconsin so I could come back every week! Go here if you're in town no place beats Fromagination!

I was recently in Madison on business and was unable to get away from my meetings to do any souvenir shopping. I definitely wanted cheese, so I did a quick Google search and discovered Fromagination.

I'm familiar with the world of cheeses; less so with Wisconsin cheeses. I spoke with Andrew who walked me through the local options. He was very knowledgeable and patient with all of my questions.

We selected 3 cheeses which we had packaged and delivered to my hotel room without incident. Normally I'd leave the packaging behind to save room in my luggage, but this was so nice I kept it as is.

I know it's not the most exciting review; but that's the point. I received exactly what I wanted without any stress. And I avoided the trama of coming home to my wife after a business trip without a gift!

I am not a fan of blue cheese at all and yet they managed to find one that I actually enjoyed and I ended up buying it. The downside is that because of the high quality, it is also quite pricey though they will sell even a very small amount of cheese to you to keep the price down.

My wife and I travel miles to visit this store. It has every fine cheese imaginable, as well as very nice artisan breads and crackers.

Quite the cheese treat. Able to sample as many cheeses as desired. Great selection of Wisconsin made cheese. Plenty of choices of accompaniments for a delectable cheese board. Enjoyed a turkey sandwich, homemade chips and soda for lunch. They had a few tables outside or you could sit indoors.

Wonderful cheese shop and they let you sample whatever you would like to. Wait could be long as they give you their 100% attention while waiting on you. Also got to sample hot apple cider, honey and maple syrup. They also make speciality sandwiches which looks like to die for. Funky Friday from 3:30-6:30 is their happy hour. We definitely will be back.

Lovely store with assortments of local cheeses and meats, as well as wine. Get a sampler tray and enjoy in the store at a large table or bring it put on the Capitol lawn. You could make a fun gift basket for a person who has everything

Very beautiful store in Madison right off the square. The associates were very willing to help pick cheeses to sample on a slate plate and find pairing beverages. Wonderful experience at Fromagination!

Cool place! You can sample the cheeses before buying any.

Fromagination has excellent cheese, however the service in terms of long distance shipping of orders is poor (shipping to California). I have ordered from Fromagination three times since 2018. Each time I had to contact Fromagination to see if my order had been shipped and to ask them to email me shipping information. Generally, everything gets resolved and I have my order within a week.

However, this year they were behind on orders. I understand that 2020 has been a difficult year. I placed an order on December 15th. I called a week later and had a nice conversation with the owner and was told there was a delay, but my order would be going out. My order did not make the Christmas list. I knew there were delays so I assumed I would receive information on my order Monday after Christmas on December 28th. Still no email, or information. Again, I had to call Fromagination (December 29th). I asked for a refund. The refund process was started without issue. I also received an apology for the inadequate distribution service.

I do love the cheese but the consistent hassle with order shipment makes this a disappointing experience. Fromagination needs to assess and advance their process for long distance distribution of cheese orders. Their web page needs to reflect order processing and tracking once an order is received. The customer should not have to constantly call to check on an order. My review is based solely on the quality of the service.

Ho-ly cheese! This cheese shop is amazing! Got to speak with the owner and grabbed a few cheeses to fit the event we were going to that night. He was so helpful and let us try a good few. And we loved the cheeses we bought. If you want good cheese in Madison, you definitely have good options, but this is number one by far. Great place to go for lunch too. So many good options....

What a delightful place! From the moment we walked in we were welcomed warmly and encouraged to ask to sample anything and everything we were interested in. Staff came over offering us two particular cheeses that were both great. We ended up buying a few small pieces of cheese and sampling them out on the patio. Great service and a delicious cheese selection!

Great service. The staff was patient as I tried multiple cheese samples as I planned my cheese plate and my purchase.

Such a fantastic selection of cheeses and incredibly helpful and knowledgeable staff. Grabbed the Best of the Midwest sandwich and it was delicious.

So many good cheeses to sample and everyone of them is delicious. I ended up buying a wonderful block of cheddar to take home.

Amazing cheeses. Great service. Andres helped us and had us try lots of different cheeses from smoked gouda, brie, 15 year old cheddars. His customer service was 5 stars. The cheese was delectable

The set up was like an old fashioned deli. Fromagination had lots of nick nacks to look at or pick up some souvenirs. We had a great time and would highly reccomend stopping here if your checking out the capital building.
