Friendship House: Enhancing Emotional, Behavioral and Social Well-being of Children and Families
Friendship House is a non-profit organization that has been providing quality programs and services to children and families for over 50 years. The organization was founded in 1966 with the aim of enhancing the emotional, behavioral, and social well-being of children and families in need.
The mission of Friendship House is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where children can grow emotionally, socially, and academically. The organization offers a wide range of programs designed to meet the unique needs of each child. These programs include counseling services, after-school programs, summer camps, mentoring programs, family support services, parenting classes, and more.
One of the key strengths of Friendship House is its team of highly trained professionals who are dedicated to helping children overcome their challenges. The staff includes licensed therapists who specialize in working with children who have experienced trauma or other emotional difficulties. They use evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help children develop coping skills that will serve them throughout their lives.
Another strength of Friendship House is its commitment to collaboration with other organizations in the community. The organization works closely with schools, hospitals, social service agencies, churches and other community groups to ensure that every child receives the support they need.
Friendship House also places great emphasis on prevention by offering educational workshops for parents on topics such as positive discipline techniques or how to talk about difficult subjects like drugs or sex with their kids. By empowering parents with knowledge and skills they can use at home; Friendship house helps prevent problems before they occur.
In addition to its core programming for youth development; Friendship house also provides emergency shelter services for homeless youth ages 12-17 through its "Safe Place" program which operates 24/7/365 days per year across multiple locations throughout Delaware County Pennsylvania.
Overall; Friendship house has been making a significant impact on the lives of thousands upon thousands since it's founding over half-century ago by providing quality programming designed specifically around enhancing emotional well-being while promoting healthy behaviors among both youth & families alike within our communities here locally within Delaware County Pennsylvania!
