Great food and a good variety of choices on the menu without being overwhelming with offerings. The wild game night is fun and interesting though my guess is the the "wild" game is actually farm raised exotics.

The atmosphere is nice and service excellent; even when the place is packedthe degrees do a good job keeping up with the guests.

Their points program is generous and definitely worth signing up for

Great atmosphere for a family dinner. You can dress up if you'd like our go in normal clothes. They have exotic specials throughout the month and decent happy hour specials. The fish was fantastic!

Approximately less than 70 hours ago, I went to the Freemason Abbey restaurant in Norfolk Virginia (near close distance proximity of the Macarthur center mall) after I had seen it featured in a free Virginia Beach magazine. The hostess and waiter handling my food orders were very cordial and I enjoyed the shecrab soup and the generous portion of sea fantasia pasta that I was able to save a portion of to have less than 18 hours ago (which still tasted good).

Great food, small portion though. The bread i think in my opinion should be more flavorful like with some herbs. The lemonade drink should be a better quality bc it taste like from a cheap place.

So I've eaten at Freemason Abbey's 3 times so far and this is my worst visit. The customer service and waiting times even though the place was slammed was very good. The she crab soup I ordered was absolutely delicious as was the southern hospitality I ordered. The problem came when I got my entree which I ordered a medium well steak and it came with Gouda Mac and cheese and bressel sprouts. The bressel sprouts we're completely burnt and the steaks outside was charred. When I order medium well I expect the steak to be the same softness all the way through and instead it looks like the outside was seared. The Mac and cheese was delicious though. Overall it was an okay experience but I hope Freemason Abbey's takes this review positively and changes the way they cook steaks but I know next time as a just in case I'll be ordering a medium rare.

We love Freemason Abbey! The ambience is amazing, set inside a former church! The food and service are just great! First of all, I love that they take reservations, and they have a free parking lot of their own next to the building. They warmly greet you at the door, and if you have issues with stairs, they will place you on the first floor, but there is a loft area. I love their Spinach Salad and their Steak Caprese, so I made a meal of two appetizers; my husband liked his broiled flounder with rice and asparagus, and their rolls are delicious. Our server was Hays, and he was just spot on, checking on us often and keeping us in drinks, and giving us time. They have a frequent diner club; so if you give them your phone number, you get points which translate into gift certificates. This place made us feel special, and was a perfect place to meet before goign to a performance at Chrysler Hall.

This place was delicious, from the drinks to the salads and beyond! I wish I had taken a chance coming here before, the food is that good. It is a spot that I will be dinning at again in the very near future. Also the service was fast and very pleasant, the food was presented wonderfully. The atmosphere is very unique with the refinished church. I think my favorite thing to eat was the salad, I selected based on the servers suggestion and was not disappointed.

Amazing place to sit down and catch some pokemon, especially if you use a lure module (this is a pokestop). I caught a venusaur sitting at the bar, and a ghastly sitting in a corner booth. The food is great too.

A fine restaurant in an old church. We were with a group of 6 friends all together and made reservations. Arrived on time but still made to wait 20 minutes. Food was good, a little bland (not salt wise, but spices). The waitress was ok, kept it all straight. I will definitely try it again.

The positives were 1. The she crab soup: thick, creamy, and very well seasoned with generous lumps of crabmeat and 2. The atmosphere: a cool repurposed church-like building with elegant fixtures. However, we had a pretty dispassionate waiter who made us feel a little bit like an inconvenience, and my pasta dish was over-salted and not a great flavor. I'd maybe go back only to get the soup to go.

Everything about this place was great, from the greeting upon entry to the farewell when leaving. The ambiance is very nice. Now let's get to the food. The she crab soup is amazing. I went with the broiled seafood combination platter. It is very filling and you will not be disappointed. They also have some nice cocktails and a nice variety of non alcoholic beverages. Their dessert menu was good but I was too stuffed to indulge. This place is a must when in the area.

My wife and I enjoying coming here when we are in the area. The ambiance is delightful, historic, and stunning. The service is great and the food is better. She crab soup is amazing. They have an excellent brunch menu on Sundays with cheap traditional brunch cocktails. I feel this is one of the best places to eat in Norfolk and if you happen to be in the area definitely check it out!

Once you get past the fact that you re eating in an old church, you realize you re just eating okay food. We ve been here for lunch several times, really wanting to like it, but we always left a bit disappointed. It seems like they ve started to phone it in on their food quality.

Enjoyable restaurant in a beautiful building. The wait staff is kind and fast (though that could also be because they only have half capacity). The seafood is well prepared, but their house version of an old fashioned is a bit below par.

A 147 year old church turned into a tavern! Very cool vibe inside with a nice ambiance. Our server Nicole was amazing; very friendly and attentive. My partner and I had the sandwich of the day and she crab soup/salad. The sandwich was a twist to the classic Philly cheese steak and it was delicious! Lunch was served super quick, so perfect for daytime lunches. Overall wonderful experience and we are excited to come back and try the 3course dinner meal for only $30.
